I don't know why Barbara would have chosen to come to Bullhead City, other then the River I suppose and possibly IF she enjoyed gambling, there is nearby mini Vegas , Laughlin with lots of entertainment too for retirees without the hassle of busy LasVegas. When her husband said something about "perhaps she went to Las Vegas" that of course made no sense to me considering she didn't have a known suitcase in hand. Perhaps he never said this afterall?

I suppose I always wondered about the safety of living in Henderson Nevada, being so very close to Las Vegas, and the fact that Steven Koecher seems to have vanished never to be seen again, last known to be in Henderson Nevada. Somehow, that always stayed with me, as I worked on his case on this site years ago. Never forgot him either, and the case was never solved. I hope thats not the same with Barbara's case. There is a LOT of open desert behind the home they built in Henderson Nevada, a lot of places to bury a body there for someone familiar with the site. Remember too, lots of homeless camps outside of the sleek shiny new homes nearby.

Oh, it's a crazy amazing place if you like geology and rocks! Those boulders where the SAR people are? I want to go and my husband wants to go. He goes to places like that (to climb) all the time. I have never climbed, but I have scrambled and boulder-hopped and love it.

I grew up in a hot part of California, up what was called a "canyon." Near a mostly dry creek. I've lived on the west mesa near Albuquerque (same type of vegetation as shown in the search photos - only the search photos have way more variety and flowers - it's an amazing area they were walking through!)

If you like deserts. I'm not a strong swimmer, so I don't seek out water experiences.

It's the shortcut road from where they live to Vegas. It's heavily traveled by Southern Californians seeking a more scenic way (and less harrowing way) to get to Vegas.

Nothing at all odd about it. I know people who camp out there frequently (it's their thing) or at other desert places without nearby water (always fewer people, that in and of itself is a huge draw).
From where they live the shortcut is Laughlin Nv, a few miles away, to 95 Searchlight Nv. To Las Vegas. About 100 miles. Christmas Tree Pass has Petroglyphs and is a great place to hike.

Zero, zilch, nada, in the physical search of the desert. Something I'm keeping in the back of my head is that they suspended search activity on Sunday due to "extreme temperatures." However, when I looked at the historical temps there, it was actually several degrees cooler on Sunday.

We knew they couldn't stay out there forever but I just have to wonder...did they get GPS data from the truck back? Were they searching in the wrong area to begin with? MOO

I don’t know about the search area, but here where I live (about an hour 15 min away) we’ve been having humidity. We don’t often have that out here. Maybe coupled with the heat, it’s too hard on the dogs??

Henderson is perfectly safe. My parents have lived there for over 30 years. Vegas, like any place else, if you want to find trouble, you can find it. If you just go to work, walk the dog, and go to church on Sunday, like my parents do...there really isn't any more danger there, than living in St. George or Cedar City, just up the road in Utah.

My parents probably live the world's most boring life. In Henderson. They never go to the strip, except for work, they do Security for events...at age 75...with a bunch of their other retired veteran friends.

All men aren’t evil. Evil is not gender specific.

Good Heavens, of course evil isn't gender-specific!

Praying she is found soon. We live about 2 miles from the beach in So. Cal., and dang, it's warm here. I can't even begin to imagine how hot it is in the desert.

I’d be interested in what’s on the memory card in his camera. What is the date/time stamp on the last photos he took.

He's older than my parents, but if he's anything like them, all his pictures will be dated 01/01 because he never managed to set the time...

Seriously, though, that's a great question. I wonder if LE has taken the camera to look into it.

Now watch, this will be that one in a million case where the missing person wanders back home, still holding a beer and full of stories about wild adventures in the desert. And you'll have to start checking real estate options...

Fingers crossed!

I wish that was true. I have spent years, literally, hiking around and camping in the desert. Meeting folks, even folks that look a bit "rough", I have never been accosted or felt in any danger.

I suppose that some random psychos could have come across BT, but that is pretty farfetched INMO.

Some good & kind sleuth posted Barbara's major life events and dates from Ancestry many pages back. I've used the search function but can't seem to find it. Can the OP or another kind soul please repost all those stats please? Or link the OP?
