"Authorities received reports Monday afternoon of a man who went missing on San Francisco's Ocean Beach after finishing the Bay to Breakers race the day before.
Beau Rasmussen, 27, of Oakland, was last seen at about 12 p.m. Sunday when he parted ways with his friends to go to the beach, his friends said.
A passerby found Rasmussen's phone, credit cards and passport near Beach Chalet Brewery and Restaurant later that night.
The passerby called the last number Rasmussen dialed on his phone, which happened to be for a co-worker at EDF Renewable Energy in San Ramon. When he didn't show up for work Monday morning, his co-workers filed a missing persons report, according to Oakland police.
The 7.46-mile Bay to Breakers race runs through Golden Gate Park to end at Ocean Beach. Coast Guard Petty Officer David Font said the beach's lifeguards did not see anyone fitting Rasmussen's description going into the water the day of the race.
But his friends and co-workers began searching the beach and Golden Gate Park in earnest Monday afternoon, looking for signs of Rasmussen's disappearance, said friend Mark Tholke, a vice president of the company. He said they also checked with local hospitals and jails, but nobody has seen a man matching Rasmussen's description................. "
