The disfigured body of a woman was found in the Dominguez Channel in Carson Sunday night.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced Sunday that the woman’s body was “found floating in the Dominguez Channel with obvious signs of trauma to her body” just before 7 p.m.
The body was located in the 500 block of Carson Plaza Drive, which the Los Angeles Times notes is between the 405 Freeway and South Bay Pavilion Mall.
The Times also cited a media report claiming that the woman’s body was missing her legs, though KTLA could not immediately confirm that information.
Her identity has not been released.
