Is there going to be a independent forum on this once the trial gets underway next week?

I hope so. One of the gal's from CTV is there so I hope they cover it on CTV.
The trial they are showing now isn't supposed to end for weeks. I'd would rather they do Susan Polk's trial though.

Well, the Polk case is in California, which means the time difference will screw with CourtTv's schedule. Haven't you noticed they cover more crimes in the Eastern and Cental time zones?

Well, California judges are camera shy since OJ but, yeah, your point about the time difference probably does play a big roll. Although they can rerun what we miss the next morning while waiting for the new day's proceedings to start.

CC today had extensive coverage of this trial. susan polk is losing it!! i mean her temper!! she began objecting to the pros. opening statement and both the judge and the prosecutor have just about had it with her!! then her son got on the stand and said she had the "repressed memories" about a relative, maybe grandfather (?) killing a policeman (?) and burying him in the basement. of course there has been no such crime ever reported.

before the trial is over i think the jury will see she has been mental problems but that she probably really did mean to kill her husband.

this thing is going to be a train wreck!!! not to mention the appeals!!

I totally agree. According to info on CC's show things are not going well for Susan.

The woman's clearly mentally unwell.

Not surorised, really. She had emotional/mental issues when she was sent to Felix, who then spent the rest of her life screwing her up even worse.

Frankly, I feel she needs to be either in prison or a mental institution for a decade or two. Unlike Cody Posey, this woman WAS an adult with adult choices, no matter how addled her mind might be. I believe her husband was a real pig & an evil *advertiser censored*, but I also think she saw an opportunity to kill the SOB and took it.

I am irritated with CTV that they aren't airing this trial. I hope it is because they are airing the Yates retrial instead. If not, I am going to have to complain!!!!

i agree!!

what better legal education for the public than to see a non-attorney represent his/herself in a criminal case.

courttv.com is providing a written summary of what happens each day in the court room via the reporter they do have out there. she is the one who CC talked to by phone yesterday. yesterday there were two updates posted, one at about 5:00 p.m. ET and the other at about 10:00 p.m. ET.

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I should cruise by CTV and check it out.

Apparently her son who testified did not crumble at all when she cross-examined him. He stated that he could see for himself that she was delusional at times.

Today the trial is postponed due to her sore throat.

If she was delusional, that helps her, doesn't it?

No, she's not claiming insanity. She's claiming self-defense. Unfortunately for her, her delusions are apparently very paranoid, leading her to proclaim repeatedly to her son that she was going to kill Felix.

Ran across this rather interesting article.
http://www.prweb.com/releases/2006/3/prweb355689.htm

David Townsend, a computer forensics expert, was recently interviewed on the Catherine Crier Live show about digital evidence in the high-profile Susan Polk murder trial. Polk is accused of killing her husband in a sensational case that once included prominent Attorney Daniel Horowitz, whose wife was a murder victim in October, 2005. Polk currently represents herself and is using Townsend to conduct a computer forensic analysis of her computer, review the police reports on electronic evidence in the case and provide expert testimony on her behalf.

Interesting...can't wait to hear what he did or did not uncover. She's very paranoid. The prosecuter has requested that he only have to talk to her case manager and said he was going to need therapy by the end of the trial. :D

It appears that cameras are not being allowed in the court room.

I know. I wish there were. I think this case would be so interesting to watch.
I feel sorry for the judge and prosecutors in this case. I'll bet they just dread each day with Susan as her own attorney.

I don't think a person should be allowed by law to be their own attorney. It doesn't even make any sense. It's a known fact that not one person who has represented themself has ever won. They are to emotionally involved and don't know when to object, etc. Why in the world Susan Polk thinks she can win her own trail is beyond me. I think she will have some deep regrets at the end of this. It is doubtful that she will see it as any fault of her own though.

I'm beginning to believe it is a toss up of who was the craziest...Susan or her husband. I think he was really a mental case but she seems really off balance.
It isn't going to benefit Susan for two of her sons to testify for the Pros. Maybe she should have said that she is insane. I don't think self-defense is going to go anywhere.

my reading has not been extensive in this case, but you don't have to read much to realize this is one dysfunctional family!!! i agree that felix and susan were both head cases. susan should have gone the insanity route b/c i think she is and i think that will be born out during this trial. btw i do not expect it to go all the way to verdict. she will have a meltdown before then and a cause a mistrial....i predict.

Polk Asks Murder Trial Delay, Citing Sore Throat

A day after she cross-examined her son, murder defendant Susan Polk asked a judge to delay the trial.

Polk, who spent about three hours cross-examining son Gabriel Wednesday, told the judge as court began Thursday she had a sore throat and needed time to rest.

Contra Costa County Superior Court Judge Laurel Brady granted Polk's request and postponed testimony until Monday.
Also Thursday, a juror was replaced by one of the alternates after a closed-door hearing.
