Frances is classified as missing. IMHO since there were signs of foul play reported she should really be classified as endangered missing.

Old but detailed article...
Woman missing since 1997

According to neighbors and relatives, the 60-year-old mother enjoyed playing the slots at the clubs. She moved to the lake from Placerville in June 1997, and got a room at the Shamrock Inn near Stateline. In July, she vanished.
He found her tiny motel room in disarray and noticed that a computer and other items were missing.
A moderate-sized area of dried blood was visible on the underside of the mattress.
Later that month a 35-year-old convicted robber would be stopped in Morgan County, Colo., driving Hatadis' 1988 blue Dodge Dynasty - creating one of the case's first solid leads.

Edward T. Hawkins, a Lake Tahoe parolee, had been released from prison a month before Hatadis' disappearance in June 1997.

Another case where police have identified a suspect is the disappearance of 73-year-old Francis Hatatis. The woman who lived near Stateline was last seen in July 1997. A month later parolee Edward Hawkins was spotted driving her car in Colorado.

Sgt. Alex Schumacher said the department is waiting to get more evidence to obtain a warrant for Hawkins, who is serving time in a Carson City prison for armed robbery.

"He's always a priority," Schumacher said.

This weak old woman was probably robbed from her house and tried to divert the criminal (s) out of her house .. poor woman rest in peace

Not really new info, can't find anything on Hawkins.

I have Frances pending as #MP102620, not sure if anyone's tried to add her before. She's still not on Namus.

Details of Disappearance

Hatadis was last seen in South Lake Tahoe, California sometime on July 23 or 24, 1997. She has never been heard from again. At the time of her disappearance, she was staying at the Shamrock Inn near Stateline, California.

Her son got concerned when he didn't hear from her, and went to the hotel to check on her. He found her room in disarray, and a computer and other items were missing. Hatadis's vehicle, a blue 1988 Dodge Dynasty with the California license plate number 2KZC391, was gone, but there were no indications that she'd packed her belongings.

Her son reported her missing on August 4. When he checked her room more thoroughly six days later, he found a moderate-sized bloodstain on the underside of her mattress.

Later that month, Edward T. Hawkins was stopped in Morgan County, Colorado, driving Hatadis's car and in possession of several stolen credit cards.

He was a convicted bank robber who was released from prison a month before Hatadis disappeared, and at the time he was stopped in Colorado he was warranted for armed robbery in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Colorado state trooper who stopped him arrested him for parole violation after running the car registration.

When questioned about Hatadis's disappearance, Hawkins said he'd never met her and had bought the car from an unknown person.

Foul play is suspected in Hatadis's case; it is being investigated as a homicide.
