It's being reported that the suspects face multiple life sentences if convicted. I'm guessing the wife will try to work a deal in exchange for testimony against PG.

Was NG sobbing or just trying to make her hair obscure her face during the arraignment? I couldn't tell.

Did you see how Nancy was doing this fake cry, look at the camera and shake and pretend to cry with no tears, Meanwhile good ole Phil didn't look at her once, and was in awww watching all of this go on like "all this for me". Makes me sick

People aren't understanding the significance of this because they aren't understanding the back-story. Think. Here's a clue: "Illegal Aliens." The Bay area is well known to be clusters of "sanctuary cities" where LE is told not to look for, find, inquire, detain, question, identify, report, cooperate with any other agency or deport illegal aliens. The officer who responded to the 911 call and saw tents and sheds that looked like it might be housing for illegal aliens didn't look -- as was the stated policy for the local governments (his bosses).

I am still stunned that they were basically living in broad daylight for all this time, and no one knew. I know it's easy to say "if that were my neighbor, then I'd..." but seriously, how did this go on for all these years and no one became extremely suspicious to the point where they checked it out for themself? I can honestly say that if that were my neighbor, I'd at the very least make an anonymous call to the police voicing my strong concerns about the welfare of the child I saw.

I think so many people now a days just don't want to get involved. They don't want to stir up trouble or potentially anger someone else. Don't want a lawsuit or threats against them. Would rather just turn a blind eye and keep on going. Most neighbors now just mind their own business and keep to themselves. I think it's sad.

Yes, I caught that. At one point, she was even attempting the heaving-shoulders type cry. Terrible actress.

As a male I cannot understand this phenomenon, but what is the deal with women falling in love with men that are in prison? I don't get it. Basically, by them being locked up isn't that telling the woman what the future holds in no uncertain terms? This case has that aspect too... like so many others.

Can't answer for sure, because I don't quite get it myself, but I can hazard a guess. Many women tend to be caretakers and like to "fix" people. This happens to varying extents. Some women feel like the man in jail is a product of his environment/how he grew up/circumstances, and with the right guidance and love from a woman and someone to tell him he's wonderful, he will be able to change his ways and be the incredible man she knows he is inside.

This may have already been posted. I apologize if this is a duplicate. Evidently the house is being searched for evidence in unsolved homicides...particularly prostitutes.

:yuck: :puke:

No bail for either of the Garridos. None for him because he is a registered sex offender; she's eligible for bail, but denied due to the charges.

I cried when I read this story yesterday. Here again you have a nutcase living in the middle of a neighborhood and people notice things but they never put two and two together. Elizabeth Smart in Utah walked around with her abductor in plain sight and they kept her in a hole in the ground. And that poor girl in Austria was held prisoner for years by her father while he raised some (but not all) of her children - in plain sight. :furious: These people are monsters! We'll never know all the ways these women and their children suffer. When I hear a story like this it makes me worry about the human race - it's like we've rolled civilazation back 4000 years.

I have seen several interviews of neighbors who knew that children were living in the back yard and that Garrido is a sex offender. One talked about several blond children, one talked about the blank stares when she saw them. Why did the neighbors not continue to call police? They said they knew something was wrong.

I lived in northern CA at the time this occurred. The sketches of the woman and car were shown on TV over and over.

This entire case is so disturbing and the perp so diabolical. For him to say this will basically be a heartwarming story....what more can be said about this guy?

I couldn't figure out what she was doing but it was a very strange performance. And it didn't impress the judge who gave her something around $22 million bail.

The judge did a quick calculation of bail for Nancy 22 million 950 thousand, so no bail.

Has anyone else noticed the dark spots/growths on the right side of Garrido's nose? I really wonder if that might be a melanoma and he knows his days are numbered. Could that be why he's so smug?

And IMO, and with respect to everyone else's take on this, I think Nancy was exhibiting tics. It did not look like crying or even fake crying to me. At one point I believe Phillip did look over at her when she was squirming and moving her head around. My first thought is whether she normally takes meds for this and wasn't given them while locked up. I also wonder if Phillip kept her medicated and she's coming off something. I could be wrong but I live with two special needs adult children who do exactly the same motions...especially when stressed.

Thank goodness there's no bail for either monster!!
