Can we agree that they went missing when there was no further cell activity?

No. I can't because I have a phone log for Joey that shows he often turned off the phone for periods of time-often from about 8 at night until as late as 11 the next morning. Phones could simply have been turned off for the night, and weren't turned on prior to the abduction or murders the next day.

That's what I'm thinking. But CM accessed QB using JM's log in info.

Chase used the log in for ONE of Joey's accounts: Custom. The account that was specifically created for Joey's work with Chase.

Is no one understanding that there are two separate accounts, with separate log-ins? I feel like this isn't computing somehow.

I wish we would get some evidence of that. So far, the only person who has said that, IIRC, is DK.

I am not sure how accurate that is. I am pretty sure that Chase ripped Joey off for thousands. But we haven't seen the exact evidence of that as of yet.
I thought it was mentioned in opening statements?

If this is what happened, it was a choice Joey made. Chase wasn't Joey's child, so why not let him learn the program. If Joey was going to go to Desktop only, but wanted Chase to take on a few tasks, better that Chase learn how.

But didn't the girl who used to work for CM testify that he was using QB when she worked for him? He probably already knew the program.

Oh, that's right.

IIRC, my son had his own log in passcode to use when he logged in. He never used mine. He didn't even know mine. And his only opened that portion which included his name.

So that probably nullifies the excuse that Joey gave Chase permission to write those checks. Because if he only wanted him to have access to that custom section, he would have had his own passcode for just that portion.

But if he logged in using Joey's log in info, then he would have access to the entire account. And I really really doubt that Joey would have agreed to that. JMO

But if Chase was using the email and password he'd been given by Joey, then Joey set up the access for that log-in. You decided what your son could use and view. Joey may have done the same.

No one, ever, has claimed Chase accessed the Contacts account. So if password to the Custom account allowed for check writing, but not for viewing of Joey's private bank accounts or vendor list, that would seem to be the way Joey set it up.

Only the owner/QB administrator can create restrictions for each account.

We get it. The question to you is has it been stated in testimony that CM accessed the second account or is this just your opinion?

The second account is the Custom account. The first account Joey created was Contacts. Chase has never been accused of accessing the Contacts account. Only the account that listed the work he did with Joey: Custom.

And yes this was stated at trial.

According to Chase, he was the 'definitely' the last person Joey saw. If he was telling the truth the family went missing around sunset, on Feb 4th. JMO

He never gave a time. He said he and Joey parted ways around 3.

I do appreciate the time and effort you are putting in, trying to make sense of these circumstances. You are doing a great job coming up with possible explanations.

But I do have to say, with great respect for you, I feel like you are having to twist like a pretzel, to justify some of the situational aspects.

Some are surmising that Joey and family were killed, and then Chase, who has a criminal history of theft and fraud, and who has a long history of conning customers and business partners out of money, then sat down at Joey's computer and stole money from the account, backdating and deleting the evidence. The evidence of that is those checks ended up in Chases's possession, some cashed by him, and spent at various casinos in the following months. And yet, He complained that he was behind on his rent.

But the 'pretzelly' explanation is that Joey actually decided to give Chase greater access to his finances, and purposely opened up a portion of his QuickBook account, telling Chase to write himself checks as needed, and sign them himself. And then Chase would delete and backdate, because that is the way Joey set up the custom account for him, and he also expected Chase to add his own name again, so he could teach him to use Joey's accounts from now on...o_O

This whole case has been a pretzel from day one IMO katy! How many years later now and we still can't say if Joey made it home, or when he made it home... getting Chase from RC to Fallbrook and back in time for all the phone pings... there are a few pretzels made getting that to all fit as well! LOL Some think he had Joey's phone, some think he left his phone behind... some think he took the Trooper... some think he took his own truck... some have considered he borrowed his brother's truck... some think he met Joey at the storage place and didn't even go to lunch!!!! I don't even want to get into the border pretzel... that one is a pretty tight timeline IMO I think that even the prosecution concedes that they just do not know how it all went down.

I'm open to all possible pretzel's... and I hate pretzels :p

I was looking at some phone logs this morning, I agree with you he did have evenings where there was no more activity after around 8:30ish.

Joey's phone logs can be found in this post: https://www.websleuths.com/forums/threads/mcstay-family-comprehensive-timeline.285143/#post-14733809

I understand haha if I count! LOL I listened to Baker's testimony while I was at work last week, I couldn't figure out why the defense was bringing up this other email... it wasn't until later when I listened again that I "got it". Basically, the defense was getting at what you are saying.

Ok, but here is my question then.

I haven't used QB for a few years now. So I cannot remember this part. But I had a custom account. And my son had one section that he could view and write checks from.

But I also had one that my daughter wrote checks from. And one for my home based business. <<,All of these were in my custom account. I could log in and have access to all 3 of these folders.

But IIRC, my son could only write checks from his. And my daughter only had access to hers, etc. And they both had separate log ins, as far as I remember. Otherwise, what would be the point of having separate custom partitions?

MY LOGIN HAD TOTAL ACCESS to the entire Custom account. But my kids did not. is that how it works? That is how I remember it.
