A missing man from Harbor, Oregon was last spotted on security camera footage outside of a casino in California, according to the Curry County Sheriff's Office (CCSO).

Andrea Greenfield reported her son missing on March 20. She told CCSO that she had last seen her son, 25-year-old Max Greenfield, on Saturday, March 17. The CCSO entered Greenfield into the Law Enforcement Data System as a missing person at that time.

Investigators were able to track Greenfield to the Lucky 7 Casino in Smith River, California. Security camera footage from the casino showed Greenfield arriving at about 1:00 a.m. the morning of Sunday, March 18. Greenfield immediately exited the casino, then went to wait by the back door.

Around 1:50 a.m., Greenfield went to the front of the casino and met with a "white male adult," after which they appeared to speak for several minutes. Then Greenfield and the unidentified man were seen walking south across the parking lot, parallel to Highway 101, until they pass out of the view of security cameras.

Greenfield is described as a white adult male, about 6' tall, 150-160 pounds, with brown hair, green eyes, and a skeleton key tattooed on his left forearm. He was last seen wearing black jeans, a dark t-shirt and black jacket—as well as a dark knit stocking cap and a black duffel bag.

He's from Brookings, OR. I've eaten at that Lucky 7 where he went missing. It's a tiny casino. He doesn't have a car or drive according to the video. Also says he messaged a friend to go visit her but never showed up.
The family fears he is in danger. He may be in Smith River or Crescent City, California. Greenfield's family says that he struggles with mental health issues and does not have his medication. He relies on his family for support.

they had to prearrange the rendezvous somehow so I'd start with whoever he last talk to on the phone.
The story doesn't say he gambled just waited for 50 minutes so the guy must have been late.
To meet at 1am is weird to me..where'd he come from?
update: he left from home according to the mother but there's a big gap from her leave time of 10p to the surveillance tape arrival time of 1am

Search party underway for missing man

Tonya Brown is leading a group of citizens in a search party for her brother, 25-year-old Max Greenfield of Harbor, who was last seen March 18 at the Lucky 7 Casino in Smith River.

The endeavor begins at 11 a.m. at the former Ray’s Market parking lot in Smith River. Brown hopes to cover the beaches north from the mouth of the Smith River, Kellogg Beach, Ocean View Drive and California 197.

“I worry he’s in the ocean,” Brown said. “At this point, we just need answers.”

Del Norte County is investigating the case and began a search with dogs Tuesday evening, to no avail, Brown said.

FAMILY SAYS SEARCH FOR MISSING BROOKINGS MAN GOING ON A MONTH

A family in Brookings is desperate to find out where Max Greenfield is. He hasn't been seen or heard from in almost a month.

SMITH RIVER, Cal.--A Brookings family is desperate to find their family member, who hasn't been seen or heard from in almost a month.

Max Greenfield's image was captured on security video leaving a casino in Smith River March 18th.

The family conducted a search party almost two weeks ago.

Tonya Brown, Max’s sister says they covered about 10 miles across the beaches.

The sheriff’s office has also done land searches with their search and rescue team and using their cadaver dogs all around the casino.
She believes they've covered any areas he could have fallen into, which is why she thinks there may be foul play involved.

Tonya Brown says, "What we really need to know is we need someone to come forward and have either a confirmed sighting or know he is actually gone and what really happened. I just feel like if nobody has seen him since the early morning of March 18th, then what happened to him? Somebody knows, people don't just vanish."

who was that guy? does the family or friends of Max know him? What's with the bag, was he trying to run from home and this guy helped him? Was it a sex date? So many question!

The article says:
„The man that Greenfield is seen speaking with has been identified and questioned, according to the Del Norte County Sheriff's (DNCS) Department. That interview does not appear to have given authorities any reliable leads on Greenfield's location or direction of travel.“

The bag is big! Closeup:

They were obviously carrying on a conversation, then walked somewhere together. What did they talk about? Where were they walking to when these pics were taken? Where did that other guy go next? Where did he see Max go?

Because of the overnight bag, it seems as though Max did indeed intend to travel.

It doesn’t sound like the man is terribly interested in helping LE.

Also from the article:

“The video shows Greenfield speaking with another man outside the building, before the two of them walk out through the casino's parking lot.”

I wonder if they could have gone to the hotel that is apparently adjacent to the casino:

If so, surely there would be security camera footage of them going there together, and LE has already looked into it. Perhaps they do have video but are withholding that info for whatever reason.

I also wonder if Max had a lot of cash on him, whether for gambling or traveling, and if so, whether the man knew about it.

Hopefully, the released photos will jog someone’s memory and that person will come forward, placing either Max or the man somewhere after they were last captured on video.

He hasn’t been heard from in almost a month. I am very concerned for this young man.

The person he is seen disappearing with knows something 99.9%. jmo. I also notice Max is the one giving directions on where they should go, the man is still holding a drink from inside, and Max appears to either be limping or the bag is really heavy. Did they figure out how he got down there? About how long would it take on public transport and what would have been the options?
I found yet another FB profile here https://www.facebook.com/maaaxgreenfield though it is private.
He says he is from Los Angles on one profile, could he have friends or family he was heading towards? I am wondering if there have been tensions and he left to go seek out dad, etc.

This man was nervous.
He let Max do all the talking. He was purposefully leading him somewhere.

Look closely. the man looks at a black car.
Not once or twice... but three times.
Paranoid, he quickly looks to the right. Possibly to see if a car is passing so they can cross.

I bet that black car was the mans car. Or someone he knows.

The man knows he is being watched.
He lead him somewhere. Came back for him hours later.

He created an alibi by going back to the casino.
Sounds like the cops arent doing this right.

Police suspect foul play in case of Oregon man missing since March

While crossing state lines is considered a trip for most people, crossing from Oregon to California was something Max Greenfield did regularly. In March 2018, the then-25-year-old was living with his mother Andrea in Brookings, Oregon, his sister Tonya Brown told Dateline, and liked to go to the Lucky 7 Casino just across the border in Smith River, California.

“It’s literally the only place around here that’s open 24/7,” Tonya told Dateline about the casino. Tonya says she is “exceptionally close” with Max and saw him all the time. The weekend of March 16, 2018 was no exception -- they began it by having a drink together on Friday night at the casino.

“Whatever happened to him, happened soon after leaving the casino,” Detective Gill said.

Detective Gill said authorities have also talked to the people who drove Max to the casino that night, as well as people they learned Max was supposed to meet up with that night. Detective Gill declined to name these people to protect the integrity of the case.

“It is a missing person’s case but we’re definitely treating it as a homicide,” Detective Gill told Dateline. “We’re putting all of our efforts into this case to try to solve it.”
