Maybe snow was a bad example but from the photos I have seen if the door was opened outward the glass would have been displaced to the left and I don't see that pattern or even a suggestion of it. JMO

I'm not envisioning it that way. Glass like that is VERY difficult to displace especially because it's unlikely that it fell into a big pile, in my experience. Unless the door literally scrapes the floor, you're not going to displace it. MOO.

<RSBM>

There are unconfirmed reports in MSM that point to another person in the home but we have no clue as to who. That third person was said to have opened the door. https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-pr...during-attack-on-paul-pelosi-151946821889IMHO.

If a 3rd person did open the door, it is not out of the realm of possibility that there is a live-in housekeeper.
That is a substantial house. Both Paul and Nancy are 82 years old.
And it seems as if everyone who lives in that house needs protection from the "where's Nancy" people. imo

this article has the following quote

“Pressed about DePape's political leanings, Taub said he had never been particularly involved.

"When I met him, he was only 20 years old , and he didn't have any experience in politics, and he was very much in alignment with my views, and I've always been very progressive. I absolutely admire Nancy Pelosi," she said.”

sure it is from a person in jail, so make of it what you will

All my exterior doors open inward. ( I assumed it was a building code thing but I do live in a different state)
Is there a picture of the doors / broken glass handy? I did a quick google and didn’t find one.

This is the best one I've seen.

These doors appear to open outwards. It is the 3rd door from the left of the pic. There is glass inside on the floor, and glass outside on the ground.

It appears to be tempered glass, which is extra strong and shatters into small pieces when hit with a hard object (like a hammer).

A blow with a hammer would have shattered the glass, then the hammer would have been needed to clear enough shattered glass from the window (as shattered tempered glass will still hold together) to open the door from the outside.
That, to me, is how shattered glass ended up inside and outside. I can see a 'trail' where - when the door was then opened - it dragged some of the glass in the outside direction.

imo

Do the police mention a third person in the house?

David DePape is expected to be charged on Monday for the attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, and he will face an arraignment on Tuesday, the DA’s Office said. A press conference will be held on Tuesday to share more information with the public.

A few things that don't make sense to me yet (maybe they will as more info comes in or news reports get corrected): 1. I know Pelosi didn't have in-person security. But surely the home would have been protected by an alarm system. At my daughter's house, if a window had been broken, an alarm would have gone off and the alarm company would called them. If my daughter or husband couldn't give them the secret code, the police would have been called. 2. If Pelosi tricked the intruder into letting him use the bathroom, why didn't he lock himself in the bathroom? Letting Pelosi use the bathroom means the intruder didn't immediately assault Pelosi - the assault seems to have happened after the police arrived. And Pelosi had the hammer initially, so the intruder came unarmed.

Does the Pelosi household have any security cameras?

For the record:

I was just bringing in a viewpoint from someone who knows the perp. They have children together.

imo, far right or far left, in the middle; whatever. doesn’t matter to me. This is one messed up guy who hit an 82 year old with a hammer.

The only people who were at the home during the violent break-in early Friday were Paul Pelosi, 82, and David DePape, the 42-year-old suspect who faces charges that include attempted murder, the San Francisco PD, clarifying remarks made by it's chief Bill Scott in a press conference Friday.

Police have said that DePape entered the home through a backdoor and it wasn’t clear if he circumvented any security measures.

I don't know how to bring it here
I live with a physics teacher -- the glass in the available image doesn't make sense.

jmho ymmv lrr
Thanks it has just had me puzzled today and I can't shake it. Not saying anything nefarious happened just that I can't make sense of it. JOM MOO

From link

“Police said officers entered the home early Friday and saw Paul Pelosi and the suspect locked in a battle over a hammer. As Pelosi released his grip, the suspect yanked it and then struck Pelosi in the head, they said.”

how did police get in? Surely neither of them opened the door while in the hammer battle.

and

Blog posts that are being investigated in connection with DePape highlight sprawling and contradictory views, multiple senior law enforcement officials familiar with the case told NBC News. The posts take aspects of liberal anti-establishment ideas to more recent posts that espouse positions typically associated with far-right extremism, the sources said.

Depape appeared to operate a website on which he wrote a wide variety of posts touching on almost all manner of modern conspiracy thinking: aliens, Jewish people, communism, vaccines, voter fraud and many other topics. Many of the posts were published in the past few months.”

sounds like just a looney toon to me

I wish I could see the trail you describe from the middle set of doors but I don't, none of it. Thanks for bringing the picture here, it really helps!

I agree though about the suspect in general. His political ideology doesn't matter. He committed a horrendous crime and should be punished. MOO.

Yeah and there are many more out there. The political rhetoric needs to stop on all sides before another one is pushed over the edge IMO.
