Here’s the grand jury’s indictment of the man, David DePape, charged in connection with the attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband.

According to the indictment, in his Mirandized interview, “DEPAPE further identified another person, referred to here as ‘Target 1,’ as ‘way up’ on his target list, and he explained that he had a plan to use Speaker Pelosi to lure Target 1 to DEPAPE.”

“On the same date, he also researched an address associated with Target 1.”

So who would he think he could lure there with Speaker Pelosi...President Biden?

Possibly Adam Schiff, congressman from CA.

On January 15, 2020, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi named Schiff a lead impeachment manager.[83][84] In this role, he led a team of seven House members responsible for presenting the impeachment case against Trump during his trial before the United States Senate.

The unidentified person tried to get into the San Francisco County Jail on Oct. 31 but was denied.

The person arrived at the jail with a business card but no government credentials. The attempted visit of DePape came three days after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband was violently assaulted on Oct. 28 at the couple’s San Francisco home in Pacific Heights.

Did they arrest this person for impersonating a Federal Officer?

On Monday, Fourth Watch editor Steve Krakauer, a former NBC page who has been critical of NBC News’ handling of the ordeal, noticed that Almaguer has been absent since the report was retracted.

"It has been 10 days since @Miguelnbc went on NBC and delivered his Paul Pelosi report, that was ‘expired’ hours later," Krakauer tweeted.

(…)
Hours after Krakauer’s tweet, the Daily Beast reported it had learned Almaguer has been "suspended pending an internal investigation." Again, NBC News did not respond when asked for comment by Fox News Digital.

From the article:

"NBC News must be more transparent with its viewers about this error. Who wrote Miguel’s script? Who approved the script? Are he and his producers suspended during an internal investigation? NBC’s silence on this matter speaks volumes. NBC owes it to its audience to be truthful and not cover this up," the former executive said."

100% in agreement with this.

It's not uncommon to suspend a reporter who used unreliable sources or didn't verify before reporting.

There sure do seem to be a good amount of contradictions in this case. Yet another one between what one agency claims and what another refutes:

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is disputing a claim by the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office for why it was denied access to the Canadian illegal immigrant accused of attacking the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- after the sheriff’s office said it turned away a person presenting as an ICE officer due to a lack of ID. ICE contradicts San Francisco’s reason for denying interview with Pelosi attack suspect

who cares who opened the door??? a man was beaten over the
head with a hammer by an intruder!!!!

ETA: yes, PP is a victim in this horrific case.
WS being a fact based true crime forum, I'm guessing all of us here care about the facts and the truth in any case.

While I would not disagree with that, and while I really don't know much about this specific journalist, I didn't get the impression he was one who would use unreliable sources or didn't verify beforehand. It's certainly possible since no one gets it right every time but then I read stuff like this:

"Almaguer, a Los Angeles-based correspondent, has regularly been on the scene of California’s biggest news events since he joined NBC in 2009. He’s collected an assortment of journalism accolades during his two-decade career, including the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award. From covering devastating earthquakes and wildfires to partaking in the network’s Olympics coverage, he's become a familiar face and voice to viewers of NBC's flagship programs "Today" and "Nightly News." Miguel Almaguer not getting public support from NBC 'Today' hosts as network stays silent on retracted report

I doubt using an unreliable source or not verifying isn't the real issue here, from a guy who won the Edward R. Murrow award that demands a strict code of ethics.

We know the truth- the man was viciously attacked by a man searching for Nancy Pelosi, but
oh wait a minute there must be more to the story--- all those nasty lies circulating on social media casting aspersions on Mr Pelosi. Oh who really opened the door??? a question tbat must be answered--(sarcasm

I honestly couldn't care less about the garbage folks say on social media. Frankly, if social media imploded today and never came back, I think the world would be a much better place.

That said, it's critically important to document, factually, detail by detail, everything that happened and establish the timeline of the events. In any case, this one or any other. This creep that broke in and assaulted PP is probably enjoying all this stupid controversy and I'm sure his eventual lawyer(s) are too, and will use it in his defense. And that's why, IMO it's vitally important ALL of it is documented. Including who opened the door, who was standing where, any conversation that happened, etc., before PP was attacked.
