Border security cameras captured Northridge kidnapping suspect Tobias Summers crossing a footbridge into Tecate Mexico, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said on Friday.

Beck said that police would not be releasing the video at this time.

grrrrrrrrrrrreattttt... tecate. it's desert there... plenty of mountains and ranches to find a place to hide out on. i wonder if he has friends that may have a vacation place there? how did he get to the tecate crossing? it's pretty far out of the way... did he get a ride? did he steal a car? the good thing is, it's not as heavily populated as tijuana or the beach cities... but he could head even further south from tecate. but i want to know how he's going to get his money!!!

also - maybe he knows some guys from when he was in prison that have since been deported? maybe he'll meet up with them for help. it really wouldn't surprise me. there have been so many deportations lately.

another thing... once you get to a certain point in mexico, you have to have a tourist visa/passport to go further south. unless he somehow sneaks through those stations. :/

it really makes me mad... he's had almost a week head start down there... he could really be ANYWHERE by now!!!

i dunno why.. but i want to see the footage of him crossing. what was he wearing? backpack? was he with someone?

what we need is a bonifide bounty hunter to trek on down to Mexico and fetch his hiney back pronto.

Now that he's safely across the border, he probably is not going to much trouble to hide, he thinks he pulled it off. A bounty hunter would not be expected IMO and he could then be brought back here to face his charges.

Beck said it was not known ifhe was still in Tecate or elsewhere in Mexico.
"We think he is holed up somewhere because he doesn't really blend in," Beck said.

My understanding of the current/recent info is that DM was to drive the getaway car, and that he waited outside her house, drove them to the abandoned house, and then disappeared, with no further involvement.

From reading the various media accounts, my understanding was that after TS got into the car with the girl, DM drove just "a short distance" before abandoning the car to TS and the girl. I didn't read anywhere that DM drove them to the empty house (though he might have). Rather, I got the impression from all the accounts that once DM realized the situation had switched from robbery to abduction/assault, it only took a bit of arguing time before he aborted the situation, bailed out, and left TS and the girl with the car.

Just MOO; probably won't know the details for sure until it's in trial mode.

Thanks to all that are diligently following this case. I have a question and it might have been addressed already so apologies in advance... If DM drove them for a little while then got out of the car before any assault/etc happened why was he back with her when she was being dropped off? If TS took her several places: house, storage locker, etc. then how odd DM catch back up to them to be there to drop her off? All with in 13 hours? Thanks in advance.

I've never read that DM was back again for the drop off. I've deduced from what I've read that TS was the one who dropped her off--never heard there were two in the car doing the drop off. All the police reports I've read have accused DM only of being the driver in the 'get-away' car at her residence, and that he abandoned the car a short time after TS got into it with the girl.

For the tshirt the little girl was wearing when she was found, it was huge on her, so I think it was a man's tshirt, Summer's tshirt.

This is another similarity to the kidnapped little girl in Philadelphia - she was found wearing different clothes - a big man's tshirt. She had been fully dressed when she was abducted. She had been taken from her classroom at school and she even had her jacket on. But was found wearing only a big tshirt.

It makes me wonder if they cut these little girls' clothes off when they get hold of them. They have nothing to put back on them, so they just take off their tshirt and put that on them.

I'm kinda doubting they'd bother with cutting the clothes off; that's more something paramedics might do to address an emergency situation. I think perps just get rid of the original clothing to avoid leaving any unnecessary crime evidence on them and/or to make recognition of the child slower (due to the description being out there of what they were originally wearing).

It could be he bailed before reaching the abandoned house. I was speaking more to my understanding that he had bailed somewhere on the front end of the timeframe, and that was the extent of his involvement.

I agree, we probably won't know for sure what the timeline looked like until trial time.
