Decorated Navy SEAL to Face Court-Martial in ISIS Death

A Navy Seal officer alleged to have killed an injured ISIS prisoner of war in Iraq will be court-martialed on charges of premeditated murder and other war crimes.

Special Operations Chief Edward 'Eddie' Gallagher has been in custody at Naval Base San Diego since November.

Military prosecutors say they have evidence to charge Gallagher with premeditated murder and attempted murder for allegedly slicing the throat of a 15-year-old combatant with a hunting knife, according to KNSD-TV.

The 39-year-old also posed next to the militant's body for photos in Mosul in May, 2017, prosecutors claim.

He has also been accused of performing a re-enlistment ceremony alongside the corpse and in front on American flag, according to prosecutors.

Afterwards, Gallagher allegedly text a photo of the body to a fellow SEAL, writing: 'I got him with my hunting knife.'

A couple of months later, he also allegedly fired at a male and female noncombatant.

Prosecutors also claim to have evidence that Gallagher, a married father of three, tried to bribe fellow Navy SEALs not to cooperate with Naval Criminal Investigative Service officers.

They said he fired into civilian crowds, gunned down a girl walking along a riverbank and an old man carrying a water jug, and threatened to kill fellow SEALs if they reported his actions.

The Navy has charged Chief Gallagher with premeditated murder, attempted murder and nearly a dozen other offenses, including obstruction of justice and bringing 'discredit upon the armed forces'.

If convicted , Gallagher could face life in prison.

A decorated Navy SEAL is who faces murder and war crimes charges will plead not guilty, his attorney has said.

Special Operations Chief Edward 'Eddie' Gallagher, 39, plans to plead not guilty to all the charges on Friday during an arraignment hearing at Naval Base San Diego, his attorney Phil Stackhouse said.

Stackhouse said his client is being falsely accused by disgruntled SEALs who wanted to get rid of a demanding platoon leader.

Gallagher is charged with premediated murder and numerous other offenses in connection with the fatal stabbing of a teenage Islamic State prisoner under his care in Iraq in 2017, along with the shooting of unarmed Iraqi civilians.

Wow, some very serious allegations:

Prosecutors say the wounded prisoner was being treated by medics from the Seal platoon that Chief Gallagher commanded when he allegedly attacked without any warning using a homemade knife.

He then had others take photos as he posed with the corpse and recited the Navy re-enlistment ceremony oath, prosecutors say.

And:

Naval Criminal Investigative Service Special Agent Joe Warpinski told the Associated Press that he had interviewed nine members of Seal Team 7, who said that the chief was known to fire indiscriminately into crowds of Iraqi civilians, and had shot and killed an old man and a girl from his sniper's outpost.

At a hearing in November, prosecutors said the men under Chief Gallagher's command considered him so deranged and bloodthirsty that they tampered with his sniper rifle to make it less accurate, and would fire warning shots to clear civilians from the area to protect them from him.

Afterward, prosecutors say he took photos of himself with the corpse, holding up his knife in one hand and the teen's head in the other.

He is accused of shooting an elderly man carting a water jug in Mosul in June 2017, and a month later shooting a girl walking along a riverbank in the same area. Investigators told the court that he had threatened to publicly name fellow SEALs if they reported his actions.

Two high-ranking Iraqi military leaders with close ties to the SEALs cast doubt on the case military prosecutors have formed against Chief Special Warfare Operator Edward “Eddie” Gallagher, who’s accused of murdering a wounded prisoner of war, according to records provided to Navy Times.

Their transcribed interviews contradict nearly every aspect of the federal case against Gallagher, 39, who faces up to 18 criminal counts, including premeditated murder for allegedly stabbing to death a badly wounded Islamic State detainee near the Iraqi city of Mosul on May 3, 2017.

I won't say anything, because I don't know much about this story. But I have seen people perjure themselves, high ranking government officials, and military officers tell flat out lies under oath.

After that experience, I doubt the integrity of every single government official.

Navy SEAL accused of war crimes is reunited with his family | Daily Mail Online

"A Navy SEAL charged with stabbing to death a wounded 15-year-old, along with other war crimes, has been reunited with his wife and son after President Donald Trump intervened on his behalf.

Edward 'Eddie' Gallagher, 39, was released from Naval Consolidated Brig Miramar, a military prison in California, and transferred to another Naval facility in the San Diego area on Saturday...

He is accused of murdering a teenage Afghan prisoner of war by repeatedly stabbing him in 2017, performing a reenlistment ceremony with a militant's corpse, and firing sniper rounds at civilians during his deployment in Iraq."

Wow, they really are treating this murderous war criminal like a prince.

Wow that's interesting. Sure sounds like he could be being framed. Especially if NCIS Documents say otherwise!

Wife of Navy SEAL charged with murdering Iraqi says Trump is ‘being lied to’ about his treatment | Daily Mail Online
'In the meantime, I'm suffering,' she added. 'This case – legal fees alone – will be close to half a million dollars. What military family can afford that?'

Along with premeditated murder, 39-year-old SEAL Gallagher is charged with aggravated assault charges.

'We have been tortured endlessly, shamed, embarrassed. Slandered. Enough is enough,' his wife continued. 'The president said to unleash my husband. They have actually put him on a restriction that is tantamount to confinement. We need the president to take a good, hard look.'

Cry me a river! This guy is facing premeditated murder and aggravated assault charges. Why should he have preferential treatment?

Medic testifies that he, not Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher, was responsible for ISIS fighter's death

Special Operator 1st Class Corey Scott, a SEAL Team Seven medic, revealed during cross-examination in the courtroom at Naval Base San Diego that he killed the fighter by asphyxiation. Scott testified that he saw Gallagher stab the fighter, but then he himself held his thumb over a breathing tube that had been inserted into the militant's mouth.

The court recessed briefly after the stunning testimony from Scott, a prosecution witness who had been granted immunity.
