I was hoping to hear a bit more about the nature of the evidence.

If I were family, I would expect LE to release as little to the public as possible, so there is not the slightest chance to derail the conviction. We are all curious, and many of us have spent hours here in this 'think tank' since June 30. [modsnip]

Did anyone else see the reporter in the green golf shirt posturing and acting like an idiot about 10 minutes before the press conference started yesterday afternoon? It was streaming before the Chief of Police arrived, for some time. Another female reporter took a picture of him standing on the podium. You would think the lives of 3 people, including a child, were not anything to him.
I never wanted to punch someone before!

Yes, but weren't all of these already obvious to most of us after yesterday's press conference? I was hoping to hear a bit more about the nature of the evidence.

P.S. It's hard to imagine how Luke, Nathan's older brother, is coping. A 12 years old may be just old enough to begin understand what murder and revenge means, but too young to comprehend the complexity of this case, and to experience the loss of a little brother in such a way.

I keep coming back to the statement made by Nathan's father: that Nathan was the glue that held the family together. Weren't the parents married in 2009? Nathan was 5 years old? Maximus is almost 2 years old. What a huge loss for the family. I hope the family has the strength to heal.

Me, too. Nathan is the middle child, and also I think is the first-born of RO and JO's marriage, so he had been the "glue" holding the O'Briens and Liknes's families together, and an intermediate between Luke and Maximus.

Regarding the 1 on 1 interview with the Chief. The one hint I got from the interview is that he is confident the bodies will be found. In other words, he does not believe the bodies were taken to the farm and disposed of there by either a wood chipper, burning to ashes or through the use of a chemical. If they had evidence of that I don't think he'd be too optimistic about finding the bodies. I've come to this conclusion also because he's repeatedly urged home owners, business to search their properties. My opinion is they have evidence the bodies were in the green truck, but no evidence to suggest the bodies were at the farm.

Taken out of context, the question was posed what besides blood could have caused drag marks...
I wasn't singling you out, just that the public is so sure that they have a right to know more. I don't believe we do have a right, although we can speculate on this public forum.

I have to disagree here.

LE most definitely needs our help.

Has anyone uncovered and nicknames, online usernames or aliases for this SOB?

Hello, new person here. Not sure if this belongs in this forum but was looking for potential sites that these folks could have been taken.

Coincidentally an interface forest fire was 650 Ha west of Grand Prairie AB on July 8th. Cause was listed as lightning - Probably not related but still a fact: http://bcwildfire.com/hprScripts/WildfireNews/OneFire.asp?ID=493 - http://bcwildfire.com/hprScripts/WildfireNews/DisplayArticle.asp?ID=2146

Also, looked into Winter Petroleum a bit and they had gas properties in a 2011 article between Rainbow Lake and High Level AB. Seems awfully far for a murderer to drive to dispose of bodies but plausable.

Also, looked into Paramount petroleum and found this PDF that shows their properties on Page 4: http://www.paramountres.com/upload/...rces-ltd-corporate-presentation-june-2014.pdf

I sincerely hope the CPD can find these individuals and that the public and private companies perform a thorough search of anywhere on their property for them.

Has anyone determined what it says on his shirt?

Paramount ........

Most crucial is to find out where DG had been between 6/30 and 7/5. If he had other vehicles beside the green pickup, the LE should make it known to the public so they may be spotted from cameras or in person.

I have a list of locations I think would prove helpful to police. How can I get it to them? Anyone have contact info bbesiders 911, Crimestoppers etc? Such as email address??

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234, by email at homicidetips@calgarypolice.ca, or via Crime Stoppers.

I think this will be a tough case to prosecute because the defence (in my opinion) will argue mental defect. The crown has to get around that. Garland is clever when it comes to the law (as we've seen in his previous legal problems). I wonder if part of using that defence will require that he reveal the locations of the bodies ... although he could argue that it's a complete blur and he doesn't know what he did. That would be problematic if it can be proven that he returned to the crime scene to clean up.

given that they have said the 1st degree charge relates to pre-meditation ("pre-intent" as directly quoted) for precisely two of the victims (i.e. not all three), leads me to think that they have sufficiently detailed evidence to be able to demonstrate that he had pre-planned the murder of the two adults, and given their business links, this will also probably tie in some way. In other words, it isn't a random psychotic episode (or even a preplanned mass murder in a theatre) but a calculated killing done with a certain level of rational thought. I see it as being difficult to argue mental defect. But that's just IMO only.

I re-watched the DG arrest video and his physical shape and demeanor makes me think he could even put up a decent struggle with the two LE officers escorting him and causing them considerable injuries; let alone the 66 year old AL and a woman and child, not to mention he's prepared, they were not.
