The father of a 12-year-old girl who was the target of an attempted abduction in Navan, Ont., is urging other families to learn from her harrowing experience.
The girl was waiting by herself for a school bus Thursday morning in Navan, about 20 kilometres east of Ottawa.
A red pickup truck pulled up beside her, and a man wearing a balaclava got out and told girl to get into the truck, the girl's family said.
The girl, who has not been identified in order to protect her identity, refused and ran to a friend's house. The man drove away.
Snip*
He is described as an English speaking white male between 40 and 50 years old with medium build. He drove a red pickup with extended cab and rust over the wheel wells.
