Rbbm.
As pointed out by tarabull, there (now) appears to be 3 disappearances from the same area, imo.
Caitlin Potts
Ashley Simpson
Deana Wertz

Wertz is the second woman to have disappeared from a Yankee Flats Road address since the spring.

Ashley Simpson was last seen at her home on April 28. She has not been heard from since, though her family said they were told by police her matter was being treated as a homicide.

Police say there is no evidence to connect the two disappearances.

“There is no indication of foul play at this point in the investigation (of Wertz), nor is there any indication at this time linking this missing person case to any others that have occurred in the Enderby area,” said RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

Has anyone heard from Colleen Smith missing from Rock Creek on February 9th, whose vehicle was found in Kelowna on May 3rd? That's 4 still missing from that route and has the verdict come in on Sandra McLaughlin who was last seen on May 19th and whose body was uncovered by an excavator on June 20th on Black Mountain just east of Kelowna?

'She just disappeared': Family of missing North Okanagan woman searching for answers
August 4, 2016

...According to family, Deanna’s husband was the last person who saw her, on July 19 as he was leaving town for work. Her other sister, Alanna Wertz, says family members talked to her the same day by phone.

...RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says there is no indication of foul play in the case of Deanna Wertz, and no evidence to suggest her disappearance is related to that of Caitlin Potts or Ashley Simpson. He acknowledges it’s unusual to have this many people missing from the same area over a short period of time.

“Certainly, it’s an anomaly to have three women go missing in such a small community, but not unheard of,” Moskaluk says.

He says the investigations are ongoing into each of the three women.

Seasonal residents being canvassed for information on missing Enderby woman Deanna Wertz

File # 2016-15909

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP Detachment, is continuing its’ efforts to locate missing person Deanna Wertz of Enderby, BC.

On July 22, 2016, 46 yr old Deanna Mildred Wertz was reported as missing to the RCMP Vernon North Okanagan Detachment. It was reported that Deanna was last seen in the early morning of July 19, 2016 at her residence on Yankee Flats Road. RCMP investigators believe that on the morning of July 19th, Wertz went for a walk somewhere in the wooded area near her residence on Yankee Flats Road and has not been seen since. Deanna is an avid hiker and was known to enjoy lengthy hikes.

RCMP investigators would also like to reach out to seasonal residents of the Enderby area, who may have information about Deanna.

We would like to hear from any of the area’s seasonal residents that may have been in Enderby back in July, but have since returned to their permanent homes elsewhere, be it in British Columbia or Alberta, stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk

Since Wertz was reported missing, extensive investigative efforts have been carried out by the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, including the coordination of a search for Wertz, commenced immediately after she was reported missing. In the days and weeks since her disappearance, in total, a 8 square km area has been searched over the course of 7 days. The terrain covered, includes dense bush and steep elevations, which have been extensively searched. Many areas were re-searched again, by ground Search and Rescue teams, RCMP Police Service Dogs and RCMP aircraft resources.

We are asking that anyone who may have seen Wertz on the morning of July 19th to contact police. Due to Wertz being an experienced hiker, investigators are specifically appealing to anyone who may have been travelling the off-road locations near the Yankee Flats Rd area on the morning of July 19, added Cpl Dan Moskaluk

Hiking landmarks of particular interest in this area include:
- Spa Creek
- Spa Lake
- Williams Road
- Lionel Road
- Watson Road

This investigation remains active, as the RCMP continue to follow up on tasks that they believe will assist in determining Deanna Wertz's movements prior to going missing. At this time RCMP investigators do not suspect foul play is involved in Deanna Wertz's disappearance, added Cpl Dan Moskaluk

Original news release

RCMP investigators have maintained regular contact with Wertz's family during this very difficult time and they too ask that should anyone have any information that might assist in locating Deanna, that they contact police. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Deanna Mildred Wertz is urged to contact their local police, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

It sure seems like there is too many women missing here to be a coincidence. Canada has several indigenous women missing never to be found.

...“These women aren’t forgotten. They may be missing, they may be murdered but they are not forgotten. For me today was about raising awareness so people are aware and they remember that these girls are still out there somewhere,” said organizer Deanna Leon-Cook.

This may be entirely unrelated, but there is a large police search underway on a farm not too far from Yankee Flats Road. Police describe it as part of an ongoing investigation but haven't revealed more. I wonder if it's in relation to Deanna Wertz or the other two missing women from this area.

"Crime scene tape has been set up at a large farmhouse property in the 2200 block of Salmon River Road with police descending on the site en masse. At least 20 RCMP officers are at the scene."

Last Friday, police issued a warning related to Salmon River Road after a woman was allegedly threatened with a firearm earlier this year.

Police said a man and woman used a “website utilized by escorts and sex workers” to arrange a meeting in the area of Salmon River Road.

Neighbour Ryan McDonald said police have been to the area multiple times since August, when his wife heard a gunshot on the property.

“All hell’s breaking loose at the neighbour’s here,” McDonald said.
McDonald said he’s never met his neighbour, but has seen him many times out front of his house and describes him as in his mid-fifties, very quiet, and of slight build, with blond hair.

WATCH BELOW: RCMP have converged on a north Okanagan property to execute a search warrant. What they’re looking for is unclear but a neighbour tells Global News RCMP have been working in the area for weeks following a gun incident reported back in August. Doris Maria Bregolisse reports.
