We don't know that it hasn't been looked at, just that it hasn't been reported
Well they would have a good idea where he is if his cell phone was pinging. Unless it's not on his person

Correct,
They probably also know if there has been any bank or credit card activity
They probably know about any withdrawls made before he disappeared
They probably know about his financial situation

In a voluntary missing person case, are police allowed to look at bank info, etc?
I'm not sure if there's a difference if it's not considered a crime.

A Missing Person is defined as:

Anyone reported to police or by police as someone whose whereabouts are unknown whatever the circumstances of their disappearance, and they are considered missing until located

http://www.canadasmissing.ca/report-signale/index-eng.htm

Police would have to investigate before they could determine if someone left voluntarily I think
I am not positve

Thanks
So are police allowed to go through bank records, emails, cell phone scripts, etc immediately after someone is reported missing?

I am sorry, I don't have an answer.
My feeling is , if a missing persons report is filed, LE can investigate.
I don't know what is involved with cell records etc, whether a warrant or permissions are required

Kim was last seen Monday morning after dropping off his two children -- a six-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl --at school in Thornhill, Ont.

Witnesses saw Kim purchase a camping permit for Algonquin Provincial Park, a place he had been known to visit in the past. “There was an eyewitness who could confirm after seeing the broadcast earlier this week that it was indeed Eugene Kim who came into the building and signed for the permit,” Lim said. “There was a second name he put on that permit but there's no eyewitness who can confirm there was actually a second person there.”

"At this time there's nothing to indicate any foul play or that this is any criminal offence," Brown said. That in part is why police haven't been able to obtain a judicial order to trace the path Kim may have taken out of Toronto.

Thanks, overlooked correcting it, sorry!

The following post said he went through Gravenhurst.

https://websinsta.info/media_BZ2aiQog7rb

Has anyone looked into the twitter accounts he follows - Gambling and sports handicap sites? @eugene78kim

Would it be conceivable that he has a gambling debt problem and associated himself with bookies?

Would it be far fetched that the campaign was to pay off his debt?

I have not seen this angle been discussed yet.

Interesting. Casino rama is half way to algonquin park. Same route to take to go to algonquin park and same route to take to go to North Bay, straight north on hwy 11.

Maybe the plan was call in sick to go to Casino. Survelliance cameras are everywhere there. I suggest they look there for clues.

Jason Allen, friend of Eugene Kim, he was the one searching for Euguene recently using his ATV on routes that go to algonquin park. He said theres a lot of people, he saw lots of hunters, he asked around and said no one knew Eugene Kim was reported missing there.

Definitely interesting, IMO.

At the link is a map showing the directions from Markham > Casino Rama > Gravenhurst > Algonquin Park (3 h 17 min.): https://goo.gl/maps/L27RBr5zLKK2

And this one shows Markham > Gravenhurst > Algonquin Park (3 h):

And this may be insignificant, but in the gray and white, grainy photo, it looks like to me he is wearing a BandAid on his chin:

Also, 4.30pm car seen on surveillance camera and phone registers at a tower in North Bay.

Thanks. I went back and added this to the timeline.

The black and white image of Eugene came from here (not sure why the link isn't in the original posting)
https://twitter.com/YRPDutyOffice/status/915459194748272640/photo/1

It does not indicate the year of the photo, and I personally think it may be an older photo, pre-kids. I do not think it is a surveillance photo. Looks like he has a band-aid on his chin.

Also, to me it appears as though he is wearing a black apron over a black shirt, the kind of apron you wear when hosting a bbq or working as a stocker at a grocery store.

I think the B&W photo is from when he was much younger.

A little snippet from that article reads:
"Det. Patrick Brown said there is no reason to suspect anything criminal has taken place but the family is extremely concerned for his safety."

** "Extremely concerned for his safety" **

I still stand by the very big possibility that he was suicidal, and they most likely knew this.

I also learned, that you can have your phone pinged while its off. Not sure if you need a warrant or not, but I think they should get one, and find out where he could be.

JMO.

I don't know if he was suicidal or not , but don't you think if he was, he would leave his phone someplace and then carry on to his destination?
He was not a stupid man, he would know he could be tracked if he kept his phone

No one is suggesting he's stupid.

My friend committed suicide a few years ago. She made up some story to tell her husband. "Going shopping".

She was found in a hotel somewhere in the city. They pinged her cell phone. That's how they found her.

I didn't suggest "anyone" thought he was stupid. I stated That he wasn't stupid.

Look, you may be 100% correct, maybe he was suicidal, it looks that way. Maybe his family was fully aware of it, I doubt it.
I don't feel that being concerned for his safety suggests that they knew he was suicidal. I feel they were/are concerned because they don't know where he is or what may have happened to him

And my niece committed suicide and I will assure you, her family was totally unaware of her intentions

A friend of mine committed suicide several years ago. He had his cell with him. We were all calling and he never answered it always went to voicemail. When he was found, the phone was in his lap. He had taken the battery out so the phone wouldn't ring. He was seeing us all calling him and took the battery out. LE told us that this was extremely common. When a suicidal person doesn't want to be talked out of it, they remove the battery from their phone so there is no temptation to allow someone to persuade them to come home.

Just a thought.

I guess if there have been no pings after that one, that we know of, it is very possible, especially if a phone can be pinged when shut off
