Two of Loose's neighbours claim he was in a dispute with a Nanton, Alta., man he accused of stealing some of his property. The man repeatedly threatened him - and promised to make the two neighbours the ``next targets.''

``He said, `I'll come back for you and I'll come back for your other two friends in the house,' '' said one of the men, who described a September altercation he witnessed on Loose's property west of Vulcan.

``Bunty's not afraid of nobody, but he was shaken,'' the neighbour said. ``We're nervous wrecks.''

The men asked that their names not be published over fears for their safety.

Loose's watch and an inhaler he needed to treat cardio-pulmonary obstructive disease had been left behind.

His cellphone - described by his daughter as ``lifeline'' - is something he always carried.

Today, it rings straight to voice mail

Misery endures for two families in the McCann mystery

The phone used to ring almost non-stop. Thirty or more calls a day at first, people with tips and information, all wanting to help.

Some calls were from inmates, others from members of the public, or from psychics claiming to have had visions of what happened. Two people flew from the United States and spent days walking in the dense northern forest, convinced they knew where to find the bodies of Lyle and Marie McCann.

The McCanns’ son, Bret, drove recently to meet one of those callers, hoping the man might have that one, crucial piece of information that could change everything.

He didn’t. They never do.

Finally!!!

It was Vader all along. OMG.

I was just thinking of this sweet couple yesterday. I wonder what happened?

Vader has been remanded in custody, according to police. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 15.

Great news, but still so terrible for the family, the least this - can do ,is lead the authorities to the victim's remains.

My condolences to the McCann's family and friends. Horrible news. RIP Lyle and Marie.

While I am very happy that this smug SOB is in jail. I know this doesn't bring Lyle and Marie back.

I think this arrest was the result of undercover LE, a jailhouse snitch or an informant.

Where are they, Vader? Come on, have one shred of decency for a dear couple so loved by their family.

Just a reminder that there's a hearing scheduled for tomorrow in this case.

New McCann-related search conducted ahead of 2 year anniversary of couple's disappearance
It's been almost two years since Lyle and Marie McCann disappeared, but RCMP are not giving up on finding them.
Global Edmonton has learned crews have been scouring Chip Lake west of Edmonton, and RCMP tell us the search is tied to the missing couple.
The McCanns were last seen leaving St. Albert on the morning of July 3, 2010. They were on their way to meet their daughter in Abbotsford, B.C., but never reached her. Instead, their burnt-out motor home was found two days later in a remote area near the Minnow Lake campground about 150 kilometres west of Eddmonton.
This past week, an RCMP search focused on another campground west of Edmonton. The site is about an hour's drive from where the couple's motorhome was recovered.
