"The local detachment of the OPP responded Wednesday shortly after 6:30 p.m. to a report of a found body in the area of County Rd. 18 and County Rd. 20, said OPP provincial Const. Cathy Lindsey.

The North Grenville Times reported the human remains were found in a gym bag in the water by a passing cyclist, but police would not confirm those details.

The death is being treated as "suspicious," police said, adding the body had not been identified as of Thursday.

Lindsey told reporters a post-mortem was being done. She said she was unaware of any new missing persons reports in the area."

So the statement that there haven't been any new missing persons leads me to believe the remains must be fairly new. If they were heavily decomped or skeletal that would give a bigger time frame and possibly cover old missing persons cases in the area.

I know it's not a funny situation, but I had to chuckle a bit when they state that they are calling the death suspicious. A body in a gym bag in the water? You don't say?

"The area, along a two-lane highway that crosses over the Kemptville Creek just before it intersects with Country Road 18, is secluded. Rural farmhouses that dot the stretch are set far back from the road. There are no lights along the road, or the bridge crossing the creek, which is surrounded by dense forest and marsh, with thick bulrushes making it very difficult to move through.

Const. Cathy Lindsey confirmed on Thursday that the discovery was considered a “suspicious death” and gave no other details. However, police sources confirmed that the body, believed to have been found in an equipment bag, was that of a male."

"The area of County Rd. 20 and 18 in North Grenville is closed this morning as police continue to investigate a body found in the area this week.

Police have said little about the incident, though a local paper reported that the human remains were found in a gym bag in the water by a passing cyclist.

A post-mortem examination was conducted Thursday, but police have yet to identify the victim"

"He had a well-groomed beard and apparently was a big fan of the hardcore-punk band, Bane.

Police released more details regarding the body found near Kemptville Creek in North Grenville Wednesday evening.

OPP Sgt. Kristine Rae told reporters the body was described as a man in his 20s to 30s, white, slender and physically fit. He was between 5-feet-9 and 5-feet-11 tall, had short, dark hair and had no tattoos, piercings or scars.

He was also found wearing a T-shirt for the band Bane with the words, "what's done is done the night takes everyone," printed on it. Police say the colour of the shirt is burgundy, but merchandise sites for the band show the shirt to be black in colour.

The man was also wearing a dog tag with the words "count me out" on it -- the title for one of Bane's songs.

An Instagram post from Bane 12 weeks ago shows dog tags, matching the description of the one found on the man, were "limited edition" tags for the This Is Hardcore X festival being held July 23-26 in Philadelphia this year."

Bane should put this up on their sm, maybe someone would recognize him, if he did go to that festival. Either that or someone else might have gone and bought it for him and brought it back if he wasn't able to go. I hope that is a key to IDing him.

O.K.....I sent a message to one of the guys in Bane to let him know, if they hadn't already been contacted by LE, that a homicide victim was found with a Bane t-shirt and dog-tags. It's unlikely they know anything, but it doesn't hurt to ask, does it??

"According to the band’s Instagram account, the shirt was originally black and is exclusively on sale during the band’s current “Life and Death” Tour, which had stops in Montreal and Toronto at the end of August. The band has not stopped in Ottawa this year. On its website, Bane offers several “bundles” to fans, which include shirts, CDs and dog-tags with song titles and lyrics printed on them.

Police said coroners are still working to determine the victim’s cause of death. The OPP also said they were culling reports of missing persons."

If they put it on their website/social media, one of their fans might know something.

Anyone with information about the man’s death or identity is asked to call Grenville County OPP at 1-888-310-1122, the Kemptville detachment at 613-258-3441, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-(TIPS) 8477.

Ontario Provincial Police are asking for the public’s assistance to identify the body found Wednesday evening on County Road 20 about 20 minutes south of Kemptville.

OPP Sgt. Kristine Rae said detectives are focusing their investigation on areas in the municipality of North Grenville, which groups a number of rural hamlets such as Bishops Mills and Oxford Station. The body was found in the area of Kemptville Creek, near the junctions of county roads 20 and 18 near Bishop Mills.

Police confirmed the body was that of a man between 20 and 30 years old, but released few details on how the body was discovered or the cause of death.

The victim is described as being Caucasian, slim and fit, with no tattoos or piercings, with short, dark hair and a well-groomed beard. He was last seen wearing Jack Jones brand jeans, a T-shirt with the hardcore metal band Bane’s logo on it and a dog-tag with the words Count Me Out, the title of one of the band’s most popular songs, stamped into the metal.

Police would not confirm whether the man was found stuffed into a duffle bag, as has been previously reported, or whether he was found on the side of the road or in the Kemptville Creek.

The area where the man’s body was found remained closed to residents Friday.

The T-shirt was severely discoloured when the man was found, indicating it was likely regularly worn by the victim.

"Police are asking for the public's help tracking down three possible witnesses seen driving a pickup truck near where 27-year-old Deepak Beaudoin-Reichmann's body was found on Oct. 14.

The body of Beaudoin-Reichman was discovered in the Kemptville Creek near Bishops Mills, Ont., nine days after the Niagara Region man was reported missing by his family.

Ontario Provincial Police say the three men were spotted driving a silver half-ton pickup truck with a full cap in the back near the creek during the time Beaudoin-Reichmann was missing."

"The investigation into the death of a man found near a creek in Kemptville earlier this month led police to an apartment building in downtown Ottawa Tuesday.

A 26-year-old man is in custody charged with causing an indignity to a human body. Police did not release his name.

OPP Const. Cathy Lindsey is still calling the death of Deepak Beaudoin-Reichmann, 27, “suspicious” and wouldn’t confirm whether cops consider it a homicide. She wouldn’t speak about the charge, saying the investigation is ongoing.

“We are still searching for two other men, so we won’t be releasing the actual identity of this man because we have reason to believe they are all connected,” she said."

"Investigators are looking for a third person, described as a white, clean-shaven man in his early 20s with short, cropped dark hair and a possible moustache, standing five feet eight inches tall to five feet 10 inches tall, weighing 140 to 160 pounds.

He was wearing a dark coloured Cocaine and Caviar-brand long-sleeved shirt, dark pants, urban-style running shoes (dark tops with light-coloured soles), sunglasses and a dark toque."

A Belleville-area man pleaded guilty in a Brockville court today to a bizarre case involving a man’s death. Matthew Benoit faced charges — “not” for killing the man — but for his disposal of the body. The 31 year old admitted that he placed the body in a duffel bag — and dumped it in Kemptville Creek...

Matthew Benoit of Stirling pleaded guilty to ‘indignity to a human body’…. for his role in disposing the remains...

Two others face the same indignity charge. But in an unusual twist — police have not laid any charges in connection with how the man died. There have been toxicology tests… but authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of death… only to say they’re treating it as suspicious.

I did a bit more digging as some news website links were broken but I guess Deepak suffered a drug overdose in a Ottawa apartment and the 3 individuals charged (David Robert Lojk, 26 , Matthew Vincent Benoit, 30 , Kyle Robert Clermont, 20) charged with indignity to a dead body and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

From what I was reading they went to court and Brockville and were facing 5 1/2 years in prison
