the last line in the article linked:

There may be a domestic motive, but why do this during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, and on the anniversary of other massacres.

WARMINGTON: Nova Scotia mass murder evil and calculated

What anniversary is the writer referencing??
Wow, I didn't notice that on first reading. Domestic murders are no less evil than other murders, Toronto Sun writer guy. Geez. He shouldn't have done any of it! EVER!

So far:

2 prison guards (married couple)
2 nurses
1 teacher
3 unknown profession (married couple, plus teen daughter of the wife)
2 natural gas/propane providers (married couple)
1 denturist (his partner? employee?)

Connections? Random?

jmo
I am assuming possibly the denturist is his ex-partner as well based on an previous article saying that they had worked together.

According to this news article, it is unknown at this point if the denturist, Gina, had a connection to the killer. Likely they were aware of each other, but she wasn't his partner or employee. I wonder who is partner was, and who his ex wife was (did he have a girlfriend currently, and did she survive?).

"Gina Goulet, a 54-year-old in Shubenacadie, N.S., battled cancer twice before her life was taken from her Sunday, her daughter Amelia Butler said.

Goulet worked as a denturist for 27 years, but Butler couldn’t say whether she had encountered the shooter, who worked in the same field, professionally."

IMO i think something happened with the girlfriend, perhaps an extra marital affair of some sort, but the other victims? could it be customers that owed him money for dentures over time? Family member or friends of the girlfriend? Pretty sure a small town like that every body know each other.

ITA. When reading that article that he wrote in Frank Magazine, I couldn't believe anybody would be making such an issue about LE parking in his very spacious parking lot, to the extent that (iirc) 5 officers had to attend with bolt cutters to potentially cut the chain he put across, effectively locking down their vehicle on his property ... all while he had an elderly client waiting inside his business !! Who does that?

IMO ..... TOTAL . CONTROL . FREAK

My exact thoughts. This guy was a control freak. Also narcissistic personality disorder for needing to write about it online. Guy likes control and attention. He wants people to treat him with reverence. A real jerk, but I guess when you live in a small town or remote area, you're stuck with having to go to someone like him for dental work.

I wonder if this person below called 911 and reported the identity of GW and that he was off his rocker, dangerously armed plus presenting himself as a member of the RCMP. Because somehow the RCMP seemed to know his identity in their early alerts, including the fact he was an imposter.

Various news articles say GW also caused 5 structures fires, and I recall reading somewhere he torched his own home although I can’t find the source at the moment. But if he did, I wonder did he expect he’d be unidentified and perhaps considered an arson victim, especially as he headed toward Halifax in what seemed to be an indistinguishable vehicle, where he also might’ve had a cot in the back room of his denture business.

This person, if he indeed was a friend/acquaintance of GW and therefore recognized him, he may’ve been a hero in alerting police and preventing even greater tragedy and death. JMO

One resident told the Globe and Mail that Wortman arrived at his house Sunday morning, dressed as a police officer and driving what appeared to be a police car. Brandishing a pistol and rifle, Wortman began pounding on the door. “He came here to kill me,” the man told the Globe and Mail. “There’s no question about that.”

The man and his wife hid until Wortman left. “He wasn’t killing enemies, he was killing his friends,” he said. “He was trying to beat down our door. It was beyond terrifying.”....”

IMO he collected perceived injustices over time. For him to retro fit the RCMP car I would imagine takes time. In my mind if he was pushed to do this during this pandemic it was to inflict further pain.
RIP to all the victims who were killed by this MAD CRAZY LUNATIC. Why Why Why kill innocent people? Unimaginable how he carried it out and the RCMP didn't catch up with him till the next day. Where did the RCMP car get to did he ditch it and steal another vehicle somewhere? Thank goodness the vehicle needed gas as who knows what other despicable acts he might have been able to carry out. So so sad for the families of the victims having to live through this horrible crime and deal with COVID19 issues.
I read somewhere the cars were real RCMP cars at 1 time but just decommissioned I guess. Yes I agree I wish someone would have spoke up. Some neighbors near his clinic knew but never asked him any questions about the cars,( seen it on a local newspaper). Did the RCMP know before all this that this guy had these redone RCMP cars?
The victims might have thought it was a real RCMP coming to check on them and let their guard down? When did the RCMP tell the people the madman was posing as 1 of them? But too it was late at night and some of the victims might not have even been aware the Police were looking for this guy :( and what he was driving etc.

WOW. That is terrifying. His own friends!

Interesting comments about doing this at a time when people cannot grieve. The shooter was very calculating in all of his actions - thinking through every option and having a plan B for each possibility.
Thank goodness he didn't count on running out of gas in the vehicle he was in as that was the 1 place he did make a very major mistake. And I wonder if he was wearing a bullet proof vest if not another mistake thank goodness as he got shot dead :)

Wondering if Covid affected him (we don't know that it did) isn't blaming the virus for his actions. That's like saying is wife is to blame if it's domestic, ykwim? The only thing to blame is the perp.

I'll drop the idea since it seems to upset people and I have no idea if the virus is a factor or not anyway.

Just trying to toss ideas on the table and we figure it out.

The post you quoted was in reply to Otto’s post, which I was agreeing with. I’m sorry, I certainly didn’t intend for it to be perceived as criticizing anyone’s theories as I was merely stating my opinion.

I think the timing of this diabolical massacre and the COVID-19 lockdown of people isolated in their homes was not coincidental.

I’m sure we’ll learn more in the future but to my knowledge decommissioned RCMP cars are not sold with decals or anything else associated to police cruiser use. In this case I recall the car used by the killer being referred to as “a mock-up” ie fabricated by the killer.

Years ago when RCMP vehicles were painted a distinctive royal blue colour, the unique colour made it very easy to notice a decommissioned police vehicle and so I wonder if that’s the reference to the 2 vehicles parked behind his business.

Otherwise take away any identifiable markings of the various standard models of white vehicles that most police departments now use and the vehicle wouldn’t stand out in a parking lot. I wonder if the killer then bought tape and recreated the various emblems and stripes, etc on a 3rd vehicle (or similar model) to replicate a police cruiser while it was hidden in his garage?

Now just one of what will be so many heart-breaking stories

Calgary woman mourns the loss of 3 family members in Nova Scotia mass shooting

Calgarian Shelly Maclean is one of many people across the country left devastated following a 12-hour shooting spree that killed “in excess of 19” people in Nova Scotia over the weekend.

Now considered the deadliest mass shooting in Canadian history, Maclean said she lost three family members during the horrific event: her cousin Aaron (Friar) Tuck, his wife Jolene Oliver and their 17-year-old daughter, Emily Tuck.

Such lovely tributes to the victims from Family/Friends right now on CTV News. The injured Officer who was released this morning from Hospital had a wonderful showing from Community on the street and a huge motorcade of Officers escorting him home.

Hadn't seen this before.

CBC has learned RCMP and fire fighters were called to a property in Wentworth, N.S., on Sunday morning shortly before 10 a.m. to respond to a house fire.

Police have not released any information about whether it is connected to the shooter investigation.

Wentworth is north of Portapique. Enfield, where the perp was finally brought down at 11:40 am, is south of Portapique.

Sorry for quoting self and no link so will have to paraphrase ...

CBC News Live Special reporter just confirmed that GW was in fact in Wentworth ... around 8:00 am yesterday, a fire started, gun fire heard, and Tom (Bagley sp?) was found deceased.

An Ontario couple who lived in Nova Scotia after recently retiring are presumed dead after a mass shooter went on a deadly rampage and set their house on fire.

The two sons of Dawn and Frank Gulenchyn, Jon and Ryan Farrington, said Monday they have little hope their mother and step-father will be found alive and have been asked to provide DNA samples to authorities.
