''The individual is believed to be a man between 21 and 28 years old, with a light brown, tan complexion, an average to lean build, and black body hair, police said during a press conference on Tuesday.

He is believed to have been five feet six inches, plus or minus 3.5 inches, according to a Toronto Police Services press release.''
On Oct. 9, 2023, two human thighs were located on the water's edge at Cherry Beach. Police responded to a call from a civilian who made the initial discovery, said Det-Sgt. Tiffany Castell.
Toronto police later discovered a human torso, partially wrapped in a black plastic bag, in the outer Toronto harbour area of Lake Ontario on Oct. 30, according to the press release.

The torso had on a generic necklace and a light-coloured, size small t-shirt from the brand 'Cotton Best,' police said.
DNA testing confirmed that the body parts belong to the same individual. Police said the remains had been "intentionally dismembered."
Unit:
''On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Acting Superintendent Kathlin Seremetkovski, from 51 Division, and Detective Sergeant Tiffany Castell, from the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit, provided an update on a human remains investigation from October 2023. The news conference is available to view on YouTube.
On October 9, 2023, at approximately 10:19 a.m., police responded to call for a suspicious event at Cherry Beach.
It is reported that:
  • a human thigh was located near the water's edge
  • shortly after, another thigh was located approximately 150 metres away, also in the water
On October 30, 2023, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the TPS Marine Unit was on patrol in the outer Toronto harbour area of Lake Ontario.
It is reported that:
  • officers came upon a human torso in the water
  • the torso was wearing a size small t-shirt and a necklace
  • the torso was partially wrapped in a black plastic garbage bag
Images of the necklace have been released.
An autopsy revealed that the body appears to have been intentionally dismembered. In November 2023, DNA testing confirmed the body parts belong to the same person. Neither the thighs or torso have any distinctive scars, marks or tattoos.
A profile has been completed by a forensic pathologist. It is believed the individual was male, 21-28 years old, with a light brown, tan complexion, an average to lean build, and black body hair. He is believed to have been 5'6" tall, plus or minus 3.5 inches.
The individual died within approximately 24-48 hours of the thighs being discovered on October 9, 2023.''

''Because we only have a torso and we only have thighs that do not have any distinguishing marks or scars or tattoos, it’s made it quite difficult for us to identify this individual,” Det. Sgt. Tiffany Castell told reporters on Tuesday.''

“At this point, we do not know how this individual died. That is why it is not being treated as a homicide, although we are treating it with the highest level of suspicion,” Castell said.

''Following a forensic pathology report, investigators believe that the individual was male, between the ages of 21 and 28-years-old, with a light brown to tan complexion, average to lean build and black body hair.

He died 24 to 48 hours before the thighs were discovered, police said.

Without knowing the cause of death, Castell said police are currently investigating the discovery as an indignity to a human body.

Speaking to the human remains that have yet to be located, Castell said there are “certainly going to be remains somewhere,” but couldn’t say whether or not investigators believe they are in the water or elsewhere.''

''She said that police are going through missing persons occurrences and human remains databases each and every day.
Seremetkovski said that police have been in contact with their partner agencies. She said they have not only been looking at missing persons databases nationally but have also gone across the border, in case any of these remains washed up on shore.
Police confirmed that there is no way to know if the victim was a Toronto resident.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police at 416-808-5100 or by using the dedicated tip email at help51@tps.ca. Police added that people can also contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477. “No tip is too small,” said Castell.''
