Human body found inside garbage bag in Toronto: police | CP24.com
''Toronto police are investigating after a body was found in a garbage bag in the city's Leslieville neighbourhood Monday afternoon.

Insp. David Correa said a community member discovered the remains on a sidewalk in the area of Eastern and Berkshire avenues, west of Leslie Street, around 1:30 p.m. and called 911.

Correa said officers arrived and did find a dead person in the garbage bag.''

Police have not made an identification. Correa said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

He added that members of the 55 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau, in consultation with the homicide squad, have begun a sudden death investigation.

"Members of the coroner's office, in addition to other assets, attended the scene to assist with the investigation," Correa said.''

Toronto police trying to ID female homicide victim found dismembered in garbage bag in Leslieville | CP24.com
''Toronto police say they are investigating a homicide after the dismembered remains of a female victim were found in a garbage bag in the city’s east end and they are asking for help to identify her.

The remains were found on a Leslieville sidewalk on the south side of Eastern Avenue at Berkshire Avenue, west of Leslie Street, at around 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

“I'm appealing to members of the public who were in the area of Berkshire Avenue and Eastern Avenue between the hours of 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. yesterday to contact police,” Det. Sgt. Christopher Ruhl told reporters at the scene Tuesday evening.''

“If you observed anyone in that area pushing a foldable shopping cart filled with what would appear to be a black waste bag, if anyone was driving in that area — again Berkshire Avenue and Eastern Avenue — if you could contact the Toronto Police Homicide Unit,” Ruhl said.

He said police have not yet been able to identify the victim and his focus right now is doing so so that they can inform her next of kin. He said the homicide is not so far connected to any known missing persons cases.''

''The victim is described as a light-skinned woman standing approximately five-foot-two, weighing around 118 pounds with short, dark, shoulder-length hair. She is estimated to be anywhere from 20 to 40 years of age. Police are unsure of her ethnicity so far. She was found in a long-sleeved red Armani Exchange shirt. Ruhl said she had a distinctive design on her fingernails and toenails.

Ruhl said that multiple bags were found at the site, but it was a windy day and investigators have not yet determined exactly which pieces of debris found in the area are connected to the homicide.''

''They are a very distinct colour and pattern, as far as the fingernails and toenails, that I'm hopeful that perhaps someone in the general public will recognize those,” Ruhl said. “Whether it's a specific salon that does this particular design or if they have a friend or family member that is known to have their painted toenails and fingernails in that manner.”

Police are urging anyone with information to contact homicide investigators.''

On Tuesday, police released images of Ly's nail designs in the hopes of making a quick identification.

CTV News Toronto has since learned that Ly was the owner of a nail studio in Toronto called Beaute D’Amour.

An employee at the nail salon, who did not want to be identified, said he recognized the nails and he was the person who painted them on Ly.

"I picked the colour and designed it for her," he said.

Staff and clients at the salon told CTV News Toronto that Ly was last seen Sunday evening. On Monday morning, staff said they discovered her cell phone and slippers beside a chair at the salon.

Police say Ly lived with her 20-year-old son, Dallas Ly, and investigators are trying to locate him to make sure he is safe.
  • “Investigators are seeking the public's assistance locating the deceased woman's son,” Const. Alex Li told reporters at a news conference Wednesday evening.''

While he did not go into detail, Li said that investigators found “cause for concern” upon entering the residence where Ly and her son lived Wednesday.

The identification comes a day after police made an appeal for help in identifying the body''

''Li said Wednesday that police are still trying to determine why someone would have wanted two kill the 46-year-old woman.

“This is part of the investigation,” Li said. “These are the questions that our homicide investigators are looking to get answers for and again, we're appealing to any members of the public, anyone with any information regarding this, to please contact us.”

''Police believe someone used a collapsible shopping cart to move the body, which they say showed obvious signs of trauma and dismemberment. The case is considered a homicide.

Police also said they cannot locate Ly's son, Dallas Ly, 20, and are concerned for his well-being. They said he is not a suspect.

Police believe he lived with his mother in a condo building near Carlaw Avenue and Dundas Avenue East, according to Const. Alex Li, spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service.

"Officers are concerned because of what they found at the residence," Li said.''
''Li said he has a message for Dallas Ly: "Please contact Toronto police immediately. We want to speak with you... It is very unfortunate that this incident has occurred, but ... you are an important part of this case. And we need to find you."

*going by reports, please correct me if wrong.

Thank you. Notes from video:

-She was last seen Sunday afternoon at work. Her cell phone was left there.
-police became concerned about Dallas when they saw the state of the condo where he and his mother lived.
-Dallas’s friend on the video said Dallas is a hard worker. (His mom owned that nail salon, maybe he worked there? *speculation*)
-the friend said Dallas never spoke of his father
-She had a boyfriend/fiancé who had met her son Dallas only twice.

Undated photos of Dallas from video:

One of the other channels(CP24) said she left the shop on Sunday, perhaps she was just opening on Monday morning??

They also said Dallas worked at the nail salon.

Not sure which is correct tbh.

ETA: the employee speaking on the video said her slippers were not neatly side by side as usual. Seems she was a person with ingrained habits/tidiness.
