This may disappear fast so....

From Matou's (early in thread link), ..Wondering if any of this earlier info. is still being considered?"

"In June, police released a sketch of a man they say tried to abduct three different women on the evening of June 8. In each case, the man targeted women in their 20s.

He's described as white, in his late 30s and between 5-foot-11 and 6-feet tall, with a muscular build. He was driving a grey Ford Focus.

"Maybe his crimes are getting worse ... Escalating," the detective said.

Police are examining surveillance footage from the college to see if they can spot the Ford Focus in the area, but the detective said the man isn't the sole focus of the investigation.

Lemay also stressed no links have been found to date and there are "no indications of something serial right now."

Not sure if this is connected, but ...

"OTTAWA – A 26-year-old man admitted to being the pants-pulling predator whose brazen attacks rattled the city last year, pleading guilty to sexually assaulting nine women and following a 10th into school.

Those in an Ottawa courtroom Monday heard that three of the women were able to identify Gavin Sean Griffiths as their attacker in photo lineups and he twice left his DNA on the scene"

"GATINEAU, Que. — A person is dead after shots rang out Friday morning in a family daycare in Gatineau, Que., across the river from Ottawa.

A man entered the home on 225 Gamelin St., close to the Hull hospital, and opened fire on a woman, sources tell QMI Agency"

Bumping for Valerie and wondering if LE are seeking both a potential witness and a perp?
Hmm, could it be more than one perp, perhaps seen by our victim engaged in a compromising situation and humiliated and enraged decided to attack and silence Valerie?

""Considering that two years after the murder, we're still having information coming on this hotline," said Lemay, "is a sign there's still people out there that are hesitating to call us."

Lemay said Gatineau police have received 1,800 tips since Leblanc's body was found. Three hundred of those tips came within the last year.

Information from the investigation and tips from the public has given police a few leads: they released a composite sketch of a person of interest, and also learned of someone they believe is an important witness who was seen walking a mountain bike near where Leblanc's body was found.

"It is a vast crime scene," said Lemay. "From day one we knew we had important challenges."

"The grandmother of murdered Gatineau teen Valerie Leblanc doesn’t believe reports suggesting the man who killed her granddaughter too his own life.

In a report aired Thursday on TVA, an anonymous caller claimed Leblanc’s killer committed suicide a month after the 18-year-old’s mutilated and burned body was found behind the CEGEP de l’Outaouais in August, 2011.

Four students found the body, and decided to commit a further — still undisclosed — indignity.

Prosecutors never laid charges against the people who cops believed had committed that final indignity.

“Of course they touched (the body), but we cannot say how,” a spokesman explained at the time.

The caller to Claude Poirier’s show, who claimed to be resident of Gatineau, said he received his information from an unnamed, recently retired police officer.

“We must come to an end with this atrocity there,” he told TVA host Poirier, in French. “I hold information that will confirm that we will never find the perpetrator of Valerie Leblanc, because the individual has committed suicide not long after in the Gatineau Park."

Could this be connected to VL ?

"A computer program police use to analyze violent crimes has linked a Monday sexual assault in Heron Park to four other unsolved sexual assault cases in the city dating back to the summer of 2012.

Police sources told the CBC's Judy Trinh that the suspect in Monday's case — in which a 25-year-old woman said she was jumped from behind and dragged into nearby bushes while walking home from a Transitway station — may have been preying on women for more than a year.

The first case was a sexual assault in the Greenbank area in August 2012. An 18-year-old woman said she was violently attacked after a man forced his way into her apartment"

“I don’t think that in her mind she ever thought that someone could hurt her because she would never hurt anybody,” said Huguette Leblanc, Valérie’s grandmother.

The brutality of the crime, the lack of witnesses, and the fact that no charges have been laid in connection with the murder have left Valérie’s family searching for answers.

“Somebody has to know something,” said Huguette. “If they would tell what they know, it would do them good, it must be heavy on their shoulders. They don’t have to be worried about talking to the police, about using their name, or even going to court. It can be anonymous, that’s a guarantee,”

Bumping for Valerie and wondering if this fellow LE are presently looking for in any way resembles the poi in VL's case?

Hoping one day soon, the right tip will come through and help catch her killer before anyone else is hurt.

Who is Valerie's killer and where is he now??
What would he look like without a hat, might he be bald/ ing?
Wonder if it would help if composite of poi was revisted by witnesses?
Was this guy sick, or over-tanned- would anyone at a hospital recognize him, or tanning salons in the area?

Mother of slain Gatineau teen Valérie Leblanc pleads for new information

The 18-year-old's body was found 5 years ago Tuesday

By Hillary Johnstone, CBC News Posted: Aug 23, 2016

"I just miss her ... and every year that goes on, it's like we're going [through] that again. It's bringing me down so much," Leblanc's mother Julie Charron told CBC News.

"I hope we have something … find something. We have to know what happened … so I can do my mourning."

"One thing for sure is that we are convinced that there is someone out there that has crucial information in our investigation. And for some sort of reason there's something blocking this person to call police."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gatineau Police Service's homicide line at 819 243-INFO (4636).
