You ever wonder if SG made it to OP through the streets but ran back into the brush from the OP side?
What do you think are possible reasons she'd do that? Being chased? Imagined she was being chased? Any other possibilities?

(NOT a LI Detective but an NYPD Detective)

"...At least one veteran homicide investigator who studies serial killer cases thinks Gilbert was going to be a target of the elusive, Long Island murderer.
(rsbm)

The wording is strange, "...was going to be a target..."? I realize those are not the detective's words, but still. I can't tell from the rest of the article if he believes SG was actually killed by the same person as the others, or not.

[the wording "was going to be a target" was authored by Mary Murphy, it appears not a quote of the retired investigator]
At least one veteran homicide investigator who studies serial killer cases thinks Gilbert was going to be a target of the elusive, Long Island murderer.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that Shannan Gilbert is linked to those other victims in Gilgo Beach,” said retired NYPD Lt. Commander, Vernon Geberth. Geberth has written multiple books, including one called “Sex Related Homicide and Death Investigations.”

Geberth told PIX11 it would be unusual for more than one serial killer to be using the same dumping ground.

“If you want my opinion, it’s the same person,” Geberth said. “He just got more proficient.”

Not only is his quote placed in print but listening to him in the interview, he clearly states "one killer" & includes as his victim SG.

I spoke with him this afternoon & heard first hand the same.

This retired homicide investigator has stood his ground & been stating this from Dec. 2010

Then it's on the reporter. The writing is ambiguous. JMO

Every detective and DA disagrees! I'd like to know if this Geberth guy has inside info, or if he's just speculating like this rest of us.

What I'd really like is to hear from an FBI profiler as to his/her opinion about which murders are connected, but I've only ever seen former profilers comment on the killer of the GB4.

Does anyone recall reading anything from an FBI profiler (or former profiler) about the other victims found along OP and/or Manorville?

P.S. Yes, I know about John Kelly's profile (http://www.stalkinc.com/profile6.html), but I'm specifically wondering about FBI profilers.

Well this is super hypothetical but say she made it out of Oak Beach through the road. I proved very early in my posting here that there was a trail going from OP to the general vicinity of where she was found. Say she made it out if there then was followed by a car from op and ran into from op. It's way more easier to get to the spot she was found in from the highway than from running through all of that crap so long. Fits a timeline better too. Police responded within what 45 minutes? Plenty of time to run out of oak beach via street and back into bramble with MP killing her and leaving the scene.

When a husband murders wife and claims she's missing, a common behavioral mistake is that he forgets to call her phone. That is what I sometimes call the paradox of knowing the truth.

Pak is someone seemingly "close" to SG and claims she's missing, so it would be telling to look at his outgoing calls and compare with info from Alex Diaz. (Assuming they may have met face to face and Pak may have called SG as a pretense) If, for example, it turns out that MP has no outgoing calls to SG when he's on his own, that would be indicative of his knowledge of the truth, whatever that may be.

SCPD looked into that? Well, I don't know, for me, everything with SCPD comes as a matter of hope.

The fact that MP left alone without Shannan is a case of "paradox of knowing the truth".

Something I have been wondering since the beginning, "did John Brewer make any payment to Shannan?" If he did, where's the money?

When I finally saw a map of where she was found, that was my thought too: she'd run into the brambles from the street. Whether she was running back in to try to escape from MP or someone else (even someone she *hadn't* been with that night ). The only thing that doesn't make sense there is that her pants were found further out into the brambles than she was.

The money was not amongst all of the other belongings found per msm

"the money" you mean Brewer gave her some money, or you mean "no money was amongst..." ? I never saw anywhere a clarification as to whether she was paid or not.

in addition;

.... Gilbert left her home in Jersey, took a train into Manhattan where she engaged in one, maybe two tricks, and she
had a driver who was contacted by an individual in the Oak Beach Association and she was taken
there at approximately two o'clock in the morning....

Suggesting she might have cash on her

Something I have been wondering since the beginning, "did John Brewer make any payment to Shannan?" If he did, where's the money?

I'd say he definitely paid her; she's not going to hang around for hours without getting some cash, not unless JB had some sort of account with her. And they almost certainly had sex as well, that's the point of escorts traveling a long way to meet a john. Her wallet and purse - those were found later in the pile of clothes? Who knows how many hands those items went through before they were found. Pak came into contact with SG after her appointment with JB started, either in JB's house or at the front door, maybe he got his cut then. If he didn't, that cut was probably his prime motivation in trying to follow a distraught SG around Oak Beach.

I've always wondered if Shannan freaking out was due to Brewer refusing to pay or holding out on pay, so she freaked out that "they" (Pak? Imagined people during a bipolar/drug-induced mania? Someone she owed money to? Etc?) were going to kill her if she didn't get the payment from Brewer.

I don't really understand how payment in the sex industry works- do johns usually pay before or after services?

Clients are always required to pay upfront. Novices who don't ask for money upfront will most likely not get paid & learn the hard way.

I've spoken with dozens of "workers" from the local clubs in & around the Babylon area. I've learned what goes on in the clubs, sad to say & all the girls said payment is always upfront, in & out of the clubs. There is no way that SG didn't collect upfront according to anyone I asked in the biz!!
