If that's true, we need much tougher sentences. It should be a big deal . Part of the justice system is to be a deterrent for future illegal acts, especially those that put innocent bystanders at risk. DUI is a big deal and the sentence should be a big deal.

But,if this is no big deal ,why is Casey and her DT team fighting it? :waitasec:

1) I stated in a latter post it did have the effect of making me decide that situation would never happen again, it was enough of a pain in the butt to accomplish that.

2) Why is the DT fighting it? Principle. The DOC said she was done. They should be held accountable for their actions too.

Imagine FCA out in public and someone sneaks up behind her and goes 'boo'. :innocent:

I have worked as a college adviser.

The government would not just pay for her to go to college. In spite of her tax bill, she would be eligible to apply for a government loan thru' FAFSA. There are small grants available (Pell grants which are being cut drastically) but it is rare to have your entire tuition covered by grants. She would have to repay any government loans - they cannot be discharged under bankruptcy.
She would have to maintain good grades to retain her eligibility. She might be able to get a scholarship once she establishes a good academic record, but most scholarships are a small percentage of tuition and the competition is fierce.

She would probably not qualify for private (bank) loans on her own as she has no credit history.

Some colleges - especially private schools - and many programs, do not accept convicted felons, so her choices would be somewhat limited.

.

Thanks for the info. So the only thing keeping her from collage, would be money.Wow, maybe she will have to get a job.

I'll bet if anyone sees her out drinking it up, they might just drop a dime on her, right after buying her another round.

I never said I enjoyed it. It was just nothing more than a pain in the butt. Not enjoyable, but not hateable. I was guilty, it was what it was. The entire situation made me decide it would never happen again.

Whatever ... So it was painful enough to have the desired effect? Splitting hairs does not change the fact it had an impact.

Glad she is not in Texas and why is that? well my hubby's nephew is a brat and has been incarserated for taking advantage of a child sexually when he was 13 yrs old. he violated his probation 18 times so they just let it ride till his probation was up, counted up all his violations and sent him to TYC texas Youth Commission for several years 4 or 5 at least i cant recall. He never amounted to much there as we knew would be the case and now he was dis-charges as a part of a revamping of the texas Juvenile system this great state has decided these kids were dealt a bad hand and should be given a FULL RIDE to ANY college of their choice, public or private ! grrr this has me steaming as my 14 yr old is a good kid never so much has had one issue at school and we cant afford to send him to a state school and this brat was given the opportunity of a lifetime, a fully funded ride to even SMU if he chose, book plus tution included grrrr again, so as we suspected he picked a auto repair school of some sort over SMU ? geee no too smart, anyway he has flunked out of that and is now of Social Security living with his girlfriend who is also on SS ina government apartment.

Just makes me sick this state is rewarding criminals and my son will never have that chance... Wonder if Florida will follow suit...........?

Well, every time I have had a court appearance for anything, my attorney has walked out with me, and I have ridden back to his office with him, and we parted ways there. Doesn't mean he either adopted me, or kicked me to the curb, it was just professional courtesy. It was part of his job.

As far as I recall, all we know is the waiting DT SUV took her to Mason, her attorneys office. Is there any proof the DT took her any where else after that?

Well, I've only made a court appearance 4 times and that was so I could adopt someone, not my attorney.
He always met us at the courthouse and we shook hands goodbye in the lobby each time. We drove away in our own car .

Of course,Casey no longer has a valid FL license.Maybe that's why she needed a ride. :waitasec:

I'm hoping Casey will have to serve while the appeals process is ongoing. Don't most felons have to start their sentences even if they are appealing the conviction?
I know this is a bit different, but I would still think she would have to start the sentence as ordered.

Now this is weird....:waitasec: .....I heard him say JB will appeal and there won't be a stay....

The quirky lil' thing is, that the DOC doesn't have the last word nor the most Lawful word.

Judge Strickland & Judge Perry have that honor. ;)

The DT arguing this nonsense based on "principle" is lame & ludicrous. The "principle" they're arguing is a clerical error and nobody, but nobody circumvents the Law based on clerical error. Not even Casey Anthony.

Ain't life grand? :seeya:

Not all colleges require either a ged or hs diploma for one to enroll.

She could get her GED very easily anyhow. And then she could attend Full Sail University, the same place all her friends attended. They even offer a full schedule of online classes.

Do you really think she can get into MIT? Really? :floorlaugh: Most colleges, the accredited, reputable ones will require evidence of a HS diploma or GED at some point.

I checked out those links regarding enrolling without a GED or diploma and I read them a little differently. To me, it said community colleges receive applications(not enrolled) from some who have not graduated and they might be willing to work out a program and that there might be different consideration for the homeschool situation.

Colleges still have to "accept" a student and academics are not the only consideration. I have a hard time imagining any admisions dean saying yes to her right now. A public school with open enrollment might have to take her but I bet they would not be willing to work out a program for her wihtout a hs diploma.

Re probation. I know this is a useless comment becuase we are talking about FCA here, but most people I know including myself would be cringing with embarrassment to be on probation for whatever reason.

And now we have the answer to the question: Who will make the most money?

It is the probation officer.

Just like insider trading works, he/she will call his/her friend Mr. TMZ and put a little bug in his ear as to where Miss Anthony will be and she will be photographed on the way to her probation hearing or showing up at her new "job".

Probation officer will retire shortly thereafter.

And the best part - neither Casey Anthony nor Jose Baez will get one cent.

For once, I would applaud this deceit! I would LOVE it! Let's hope that happens! (But I would hate the PO to get fired.)

Imagine being out in public and FCA comes up behind you and says 'boo'

Unless Casey wants her clocked cleaned in a major way, I doubt she'll be foolish enough to try this. She's cowering even now, in hiding, as well as begging for leniency on her probation.

Hmmmm, seems her "Bella Vita" wasn't all she had it cranked up to be. :great:

i probably would never be able to read this whole thread but i can bet you baez will get her out of a job by saying she's unable to work due to what he may call her "delicate and unstable psyche from the devastating loss of her daughter that she is now barely able to deal with, along with the abuse she had to endure all her life". she'll still drink and hang around anyone she wants.
