On Dec. 30, officers responded to a report of a missing person in the 1400 block of South Salem Way. Several days later, police said they learned information indicating there were suspicious circumstances in the case.

On Jan. 1, the case was changed from a missing person's report to a homicide investigation after remains believed to be the missing person were located in Jefferson County.

APD has not formally identified the victim, but family members said that the victim is 24-year-old Gayland Allen.

Two teenagers have been arrested in the deadly shooting of 24-year-old Gayland Allen, Jr.

“A 15-year-old female and a 17-year-old male have both been arrested and charged with 1st Degree Murder,” police stated Thursday evening. “Their information, due to them being juveniles, will not be released nor will their mugshots.”

AURORA, Colo. — One of the two juveniles arrested in connection with the death of an Aurora man whose body was found in the foothills of Jefferson County days after he was reported missing appeared in court Wednesday.

The 16-year-old male suspect, Xavion Johnson, appeared in court at noon. He's being held without bond and is due again in court on Jan. 30.

During Wednesday's hearing, defense attorney's argued to have a preliminary hearing and reverse transfer hearing set for the same day sometime in May or June.

A reverse-transfer hearing would be held to decide whether to move the case to juvenile court from adult court, where the 16-year-old currently faces charges. Aurora Police initially said the suspect was 17 years old.

No names of suspects or mugs shots will be revealed due to them being juveniles. This case is now being prosecuted by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
1/8/20 Update: First appearance in court. Defense attorneys argued to have a preliminary hearing & reverse transfer hearing set for the same day sometime in May or June. A reverse-transfer hearing would be held to decide whether to move the case to juvenile court from adult court, where the 16-year-old currently faces charges. Held without bond & next hearing on 1/30/20.

@Seattle1 - you seem to be able to find stuff... and I realize you are probably not following this case - but was wondering if you might help me to find out what the charges are for this case #. Colorado County Arapahoe. TIA if you can find something!

@Niner - I checked the Colorado Judicial Branch legend and case classes CR and JD are both Criminal Court matters so no conflict there [Criminal Matters (CR, JD, M, T, R)].

I don't think Case D32020JD1463 and Case D32020CR17 are separate charges because it seems there was a mixup in the beginning when the defendant's age was misrepresented as 17 when he was only 16.

From the docket, only the pre-trial hearing and status conferences appear as Case D32020JD1463 , and the motions, reverse transfer hearings, and jury trial all are referenced as Case D32020CR17

From a Jan 8, 2020 report linked above, take note of the following:

During the hearing on Wednesday, defense lawyer contended for a preliminary hearing and turn around transfer hearing which was set for that day at some point in May or June.

A reverse-transfer hearing would be held to conclude whether to move the case to adolescent court from grown-up court, where the 16-year-old as of now deals with indictments. Aurora Police at first said the presume was 17 years of age.

Prosecutors said they intend to record a movement Wednesday to shield the addresses of observers from being imparted to the suspect.
