Handcuffed woman is standing before Judge Samour in courtroom following disturbance.

Disruptive woman has been ID'd as Deborah Cave

Woman's outburst led the mother and sister of one victim to cry. JH's mother wept also

Judge is telling Cave that she had been warned and there are written guidelines in courtroom.

Judge cites Cave's "clearly willful refusal to comply with my order."

Judge, rising anger: "This was as disruptive conduct as I've ever seen." Woman stepped over seats in courtroom.

Judge finds she is in direct contempt of court. He invites her to comment.

She claims she filed a motion in 2013. She was harassed by police she says. "They blackmailed me."

"I sent Jim letters. I sent him cards." She wants to know why her letters to gunman are being returned.

Judge sentences her to 3 weeks in jail., "Take her away, deputy."

Judge - "conduct offensive to dignity of court":

Deborah - "I apologize"

Judge - "Offensive to authority and dignity of court. I defend that. It is being broadcast."

Deborah - "The court should have dignity of not having death penalty"

She has outburst again. She said "you just created 12 more murders".

In all seriousness, how terrible for the victims families and the wounded to have to see this.

Here in CA much easier to put someone on involuntary 5150 hold as it has happened many many times with my son even without consent and Hippa.

The whole process is so strange to me because there are times I think they (the court or hospital) get it wrong and won't agree to the hold... like during one of those times Amanda Bynes's parents tried to get one placed on her and she was acting all kinds of delusional.

& Maisie I found you on Twitter last night while searching the #theatershooting hashtag & followed you! I knew it was you by your avatar picture! :)

It's gotten a lot better here in Cali since that Santa Barbara college student Elliott Roger who went on a shooting spree last year and killed people and the increase of mass shootings across the U.S. Criteria here in CA for hold is danger to self or others which include thoughts of suicide or homicide. People are becoming more knowledgeable about MI and getting educated. Not like the old days of the Holmes family who pushed it under the rug and not talk about it. If a psychiatrist notified a parent here that they were concerned about their loved one that the person was having homicidal thoughts and thought they were going into or in a psychotic episode. Here in CA it would be easy to get loved one put on involuntary hold 5150 and after that a 5250 hold. You don't have to be acting bizarre like BS or AB either homicidal or suicidal will work. You can even get person evaluated by the EVT team if the Dr won't do it. There is a huge organization in the U.S. called NAMI. National Alliance of Mental Health. There are chapters everywhere. It is wonderful and provides legal help, family support , support groups, classes, etc.

OMG!!!!!!!!!! She was on the move as well!!!! OMG! Usually they just stand up & don't advance. This is why they need to scan for weapons in courthouses. Thank God she didn't hurt anyone! This is very upsetting!

bbm

You're so right!

They have been scanning for weapons in my county in NC for years & years. You walk through one of those doorway-type scanners; they search your bag & briefcase, etc., and they turn on your phone to see if it functions as a phone. It's prolly done by some method in all court houses in the US, seems to me.

I can't imagine how Mr. Brauchler felt during his closing yesterday after spending endless hours & dedication to this horrific case ... being constantly interrupted by the defense with objections only to be followed by that very strange & loud outburst by that woman.

What a shame during this part of a very long & hard fought trial.

It is a really sad delusion that woman has. Who would want to be the killer's 'real' mother. I thank the Lord I am not. I can't imagine how his parents even put one foot in front of the other every day. And here comes this shrieking woman wanting to claim credit for being JH's Mom?

I don't think the shrieking lady really helped the defense much. She did throw off the State's closing. But she also showed us what a REAL delusional, irrational person sounds like. She made JH seem normal.

She was also really angry that they wouldn't pass her photos to the shooter. She was irritated that she saw the photo of his cell and the other photos he has up there.

Great point! I hope the jury saw that too.

She's nuts.

she is nuts just like JH....carefully waiting until DB's final words...she is nothing but an activist against the DP and I am very very concerned that she has not so subtly influence this jury.

AND the wrong photos coming up on the screen...he definitely lost his momentum. You know this crazy will be a gun in Colo. too and I imagine GB needs security after this case.

I am waiting to hear if she can get bail and what kind of investigation they have done on her already.
Why did she try to go to the front of the court room. I totally understand mental illness. But like many I don't believe MI people
are all violent. Ms Brady gave her the MI card right off the bat. In our free speech country just because people lash out verbally doesn't make them mentally ill. I have a hard time with labeling MI to just anyone. I laughed to myself that an attorney was playing Doctor. The judge did not like it.

I read that she seemed to be heading towards the shooter's parents. Or maybe the shooter himself. I bet it was scary to watch her go!

I thought Brady's reaction was about what I expected as they only have the mental illness hat to try to avoid DP for their client....I think this woman had a well thought out agenda here just at their client did and bet a bit of checking around will find her an activist against dp and other things. She will be on the streets soon (3 weeks most) and that is scary thought....she may want to carry on in her "jimmy's" tradition.

So if the jury comes back and feels enough mitigation was presented and they want to stop here with lwop I can't help but wonder if the state has any cause to want a do over on this phase based on a woman ranting about mental illness which is at the heart and soul of the defense case. I do not think we have heard the end of this.

BBM- This is very important, IMO. Of course it was a crazy thing she did, so she got the nutso label. However, I've learned that a lot people, more than we think, are very selfish, entitled & think the world revolves around them.

We hear her state to the judge, the rest of the story. She filed a motion to include herself in the trial & was mad they denied it. Then she states her letters & photo to 'Jim' were refused. That really annoyed her. She was well known to the court & attorneys from her motion & 'sending cards, letters & photos' to him. So when she showed up in court Monday, they were taking precautions by asking her why she's there & making sure she doesn't cause trouble. She states to the judge they were harassing her! She felt she was so important, that since she wasn't being heard or acknowledged by Jim or the court, she decided to make her point in front of the court!

So, here is someone who gets so obsessed with Jim, she decides to be his savior. We all remember that blogger SW that inserted herself so much into the arias trial, that she tried to make herself so important by contacting the court PIO & the mitigation specialist. It's one thing to support a murderer but some go way beyond. Yes, it's an obsession & self entitlement that they are important & special, that may come from MI or may not. She obviously wanted to make her statement about the DP clear!

She goes from stating she's Jim's bio mom, then wants to be a 'fan girl' by getting her photo on his wall! She needed him to acknowledge her & I wouldn't be surprised if Jim, himself wanted no part of it! So, she had to make herself known by the court outburst. MOO
