:tantrum: Just where to begin? There's no winners here. Kids killing kids... ugh!

As for the suspect's Dad's words to the reporter....did he really state something about abiding by God's word? Following the laws God set forth? Because ummm, is he insinuating that their divorce played a role in this? Insinuating that the couple living together played a role in this? Using a coping mechanism, his faith, to get through? Asking for an eye for an eye? I don't know..and if your point isn't clear to people, then it wasn't effective. JMO

I believe he is already been charged as an adult and been named in the media. but he is still at juvenile court for now.

I was shocked when I read this article to see that, not only did they mention his name, but also published the suspects picture. It is my understanding that this still remains in juvenile court until the judge makes a ruling as to whether or not he will be tried as an adult? Is this proper reporting? Or could this lead to any issues with a potential trial? Does anyone know?

He's sweet?! Police calls to his home in the past.
Someone (many of us) are missing some major pieces to this puzzle.

Good point. I guess the only explanation I can think of is that some people are selectively nice.

Also, some teenagers with raging hormones are pretty nasty (verbally) to their mothers and immediate family members. But are angels around friends and friends parents.

Not saying that AZ killed because of raging hormones just outlining scenarios in general where home life vs. friends environment can cause different attitudes with people.

It's also possible AZ liked/ admired her daughter thus never hurting her but had extreme hatred and resentment against Kiaya thus hurting her.

I don't think he has been charged as an adult, at least not according to the few articles over the last 24 hours that I have seen. Like this one:

[DA] Young did not name the boy because he is a juvenile, but Adams County District Judge Priscilla Loew identified him as the son of Kiaya's father's girlfriend when she cleared the courtroom of everyone but family.
After the brief hearing, Young said, "I've informed the court that I want it charged in adult court."
A hearing on June 30 will determine whether the boy will be released on bond and whether he will be tried in adult court, Young said. A preliminary hearing is also scheduled at the same time.

The bolded (by me) portion makes me think the press overstepped .... if the court was cleared to only family of both victim and perpetrator.

It is my understanding that, yes, he has been charged. However, according to what I have read, the DA is seeking that this case be moved to adult court. That will be up to the Judge to decide at the next hearing, set for June 30. That said, I believe that, until the Judge rules on that, it still remains in Juvenile Court. JMO

This is my understanding as well. I hope that these MSM reports do not compromise this case! MOO

I think this is what he rambled:

"God is good, god is merciful. It's all about god"

[reporter tried to ask "Do you want to say anything to Ky...." but he kept rambling]

"When will we repent, when will we return back to god?"

"When we will start abiding to the laws of man that god has place upon us "

"we are where to talk about god. They (pointing to man who escorts him out) want me to stop. They (pointing toward reporters) want me to talk about god "

Ummm...with all due respect to God (and I mean that sincerely), they were there to talk about Kiaya and her murder.

Perhaps a bigger question for dad is why his son *didn't* abide by God's law (thou shall not kill). And is his son repenting now? This is a conversation he should be having with his son, not reporters, IMO.

(No disrespect to believers in God - I am one - but his strangely timed ramblings seem to be a deflection and distraction.)

oh jeez.... I misunderstood that. I hope the case is treated fairly after all this premature publicity.

The perp's dad wants to preach about God in the courthouse? Praying for mercy for his child?

So what do we know?

1. We know a girl (KC) is dead.
2. We know the person charged with her murder (AZ) is the son of KC's dad's girlfriend.
3. We know dad lives with girlfriend and her two teenage sons.
4. We know COD could not be determined due to severity of injuries.
5. We know KC was visiting dad, which was a regular or semi-regular occurrence. (We don't know the actual custody/visitation schedule.)
6. We know the person who alerted LE of KC's disappearance was NOT someone in the girlfriend's home.
7. MSM has reported that KC's sister called LE from their mother's house, which is in a different neighborhood in the Denver metro area (Belmont Park.)
8. We know KC was active on social media such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
9. We know CPS was involved with the girlfriend's family and residence in some way.
10. We know AZ is a twin.
11. We know AZ has been charged with 2 first degree murder charges. One saying the killing was premeditated and the other saying he was considered a person of trust to KC.

What don't we know?
1. Who KC left the house with that night.
2. Other than the person she left with, who the last person in the family was to see KC alive.
3. Why KC's sister would have been concerned enough to call police on the night KC went missing.
4. COD.
5. Why AZ's dad acted strangely with the cross necklace when confronted with the media at the courtroom door.
6. The current status of KC's dad's relationship with AZ's mother.
7. If anyone else was involved in any way with either the murder, the disposal of the body, or any evidence clean up that may or may not have occurred.
8. If a vehicle was in any way involved in the commission of the crime(s).
9. If there was a SA.
10. Murder weapon.
11. True meaning of "severely injured" or "ravaged."
12. AZ's backstory.
13. AZ and KC's backstory.
14. Who was home the night KC went missing (at her dad's residence.)
15. State of AZ's mental health at any time.
16. Specific details of where the crime(s) took place.

Thank you, Serenity Springs. :tyou:

This is a terrific inventory of facts/questions for this case!

I'm also hoping the press hasn't jeopardized the case. Other than that though I'm not all that opposed to AZ being named. I'm pretty sure we're going to hear some horrifying stuff about what was done to poor Kiaya in the coming months and I'm finding it hard to justify protecting the identity of her murderer. I know that's a cold-hearted view but just as the DA takes the wishes of the community into consideration when deciding whether or not to prosecute her killer in adult court I feel that the community is entitled to know all the facts.

At the same time I hope justice is meted out in a fair manner - if the boy is mentally disturbed I hope he gets treatment. Still, IMO the important point is that he should be kept out of society until it can be determined that he is not a danger to others in the community.

What a hot mess. Kids killing kids. :tears:

Hi everyone,

Please don't discuss Facebook groups here. Please leave Facebook discussion on Facebook.

Thanks!

It says in this news piece that the the boy's neighbor thought he was a sweet boy and she doesn't know how he could do this. I am wondering (MOO)... and sorry if this has already been brought up... but do you think he could have been under the influence of something, like that synthetic marijuana? Just throwing that out there.

I live in Denver and my children are around Kiaya's age. This has just torn my heart apart.

My first question in all of this was where were the adults? I have a sinking feeling on what will continue to come out as this unfolds.

Bless you sweet Kiaya and fly with the angels.
