Lookout Mountain closed after body found, sheriff investigating

"Jefferson County Sheriff's investigators are on the scene Thursday after a body was found on Lookout Mountain.

A woman's body was found around 9:40 a.m. on Windy Saddle Trail by a hiker, said Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office."

"The victim is described as a while female, between 20 - 40 years old with brown hair, Kelley said."

"Investigators are waiting to hear back from other police and sheriff's departments about a possible match on a missing person.

Authorities are asking anyone who hiked Lookout Mountain the past 24 hours, who saw something suspicious, to call 303-271-5612."

"The sheriff's office contacted area law enforcement agencies asking if they have any missing persons' reports involving a person that fits the description.

A crime lab was called to the scene. Lariat Loop is closed from the pillars to Buffalo Bill's Museum, according to a tweet by the sheriff's office."

"DENVER (CBS4) &#8211; Police are scouring over missing person reports right now after a woman turned up dead on Lookout Mountain in Jefferson County.
The woman&#8217;s body was found by a hiker Thursday at 9:40 a.m. near Windy Saddle Park and the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave."

"The victim has not been identified and right now the Jefferson County Sheriff&#8217;s Department is asking all local law enforcement agencies to come to them with any missing person reports involving a white female with dark hair between the age of 25 and 40."
