Chris Watts Reaches Plea Deal In Murder Case To Avoid Death Penalty
GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4) – Chris Watts and his attorney’s have reached a plea deal in highly-watched murder case out of Frederick. Watts is accused of killing his wife, Shanann, and his two young daughters, Bella and Celeste.

Shanann was pregnant with their third child, a boy.

Details of the plea deal have not been released.

Watts, 33, pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder after deliberation and two counts of first-degree murder of a victim under the age of 12 in a position of trust for in the deaths of his wife Shanann and two daughters Celeste and Bella in August, according to a news release from the Weld County District Attorney's Office.

Watts also pleaded guilty to unlawful termination of a pregnancy, and three counts of tampering with a deceased human body.

The news release stated the plea deal was made with the agreement of the victims' family. In exchange for pleading guilty to all nine charges, prosecutors have agreed not to seek the death penalty.

Wow - that video in the second interview. After the newscasters show the clip of CW parents, they talk more about the case and say there is a "letter" that CW wrote to his sister at some point and said, "If anything happens to me, look at my wife," and that the family says that proves Shanann was unstable. That is the first I have read/seen of this "letter." Have we discussed that at all here? (49 threads I may have missed!!)

ETA more detail: This is also the video where the reporter asks, "What happened to this kid from Pine Forest High School?" showing an innocent picture of CW. And his mother says, "What happened? He met Shanann."

The newscaster also says in the clip, that the Watts family felt that "Shanann was dangerous and that they didn't even go to the couple's wedding."

From the outside looking in -- the answer is nothing. Shannan did nothing to cause Cindy to behave the way she did. (still does) I don't believe Shannan was aggressive at all. Shannan was a beautiful young lady who turned CW's head. Cindy wasn't equipped to handle a beautiful, normal, intelligent, independent thinking female taking her son's attention away from Mama. And Shannan was not the type to allow anyone to disrespect her , which I believe Cindy did (does). Shannan stood up for herself. I'm thinking no one in Cindys family would have the nerve to do so.

Shannan may have been assertive. She was a go- getter . I believe Cindy was jealous.

Yes, absolutely. As I said, she reminds me of Amber Frey and I had only positive feelings about her. Positivity is good.

Yes, this is exactly what people like CW do. They are good at recognizing vulnerabilities and use that as their approach. They come across as being caring or compassionate but are really taking advantage of the perfect opportunity for manipulation and control. Just like the situation Shanann was in when he met her. Jmo

Thank you. This is exactly what I think. I really can't bear to read one more post that even hints that NK should have googled CW, or should have checked his social media, or should have searched the court records. They had been together for what, 6 to 8 weeks? And she was 30 years old. I've known women 20 years older than that who have been duped by men.

CW is a PREDATOR. He preys on the weak, the vulnerable, and the trusting. None of the women he dated, married, had affairs with, or whatever are to blame for any of CW's despicable actions. These women are victims. Period.

About the woman, Nichol Kessinger, who came forward and honestly told her story of dating Chris.

Please remember there was nothing she could have found in a Google search or even a background check that would have given her a hint about
Chris Watts and what kind of person he was. He told her he had a wife and 2 kids. Granted he did say he was getting divorced but that doesn't mean the
divorce papers could be found online at the time. If Nicole asked Chris why the divorce papers were not online he would have come up with a very plausible.

I would greatly appreciate if everyone would back off from their negative or judgemental comments about Nichol. She is living a nightmare. She doesn't need strangers judging her.

Your passion and expression of your opinions are incredible to read.

I do have one reminder; Please do not make a post about you. This thread is not about how you have been treated or your feeling about other posters or what people are saying about you.

If your post starts out with I, Me, Mine, My, and it contains these words throughout your post then there is a good chance the post is all about you instead of all about the case.

Of course, we do want your opinion which translates into saying "my opinion," or "I think" and that is fine. As long as you follow with something directly involving the case and not about you in general.
