I keep thinking we are all going to find out something from CW's past that hinted at some sort of personality disorder or something he may have said or done that would have raised a red flag with someone. As much as I've read about this case I haven't come across anything. IMO from what I've read, SW was a very intelligent and hard working woman and a good mother who obviously never saw this coming. I just can hardly believe that other than being quiet and introverted he just woke up one day and became an evil family killer. I suppose I will have to accept he is just plain evil and was wearing a mask for many years. JMO.
No, thanks to Shanann he got fit and was not the pudgy fat boy is mother raised him to be, and then he thought that he was God's gift to women. He was supposed to be shy, but he was not shy enough to approach a woman whom he had seen at his workplace.

If he does get up to speak I’ll be shocked if he apologizes for what he did. He may apologize for hurting his family but I expect he will insinuate he really didn’t kill the girls or if he did it was SW’s fault. As much as I’d like to see him remorseful I’ll be happy if he keeps his butt in his chair until the court officers escort his manacled *advertiser censored* out of there.

50/50, so, I would bet on him saying something. Simply because it will be his last chance to address the world. He gets life, and from now on his contacts with people will be extremely limited. I think he might use this chance, unless the atmosphere in the hall is so electrified that it will scare him, then, of course, he’ll be silent.

He will hold his head down and apologize to his family for killing them. In a very simple language, of course, as he is no Cicero.

Makes total sense! We all process things differently!!! Just like I watch people in traffic daily on my commute to and from work. Some cope well; some not so well; some get crazy. It’s not right or wrong just different! I appreciate your support understanding her reality!
I think most of us understand she is trying to cope and come to terms with this horrible tragedy. We can't understand the victim bashing. Shanann is no longer here. Nothing they say will hurt her but it hurts her family. I'm wondering why you think its acceptable to hurt Shanann's family but no one should hurt the Watts family. They are all grieving. Her parents lost their daughter and 3 grandchildren, they could have very easily lashed out at Mrs. Watts and Chris. They haven't. She is plainly grieving over Chris. If I understand what your saying, your thinking its okay to say whatever because she is grieving and you think she will apologize after she accepts it. Apologizing does not undo what has been done. So it will mean nothing. I'm cool with us agreeing to disagree.

His attorneys are trying to protect him from himself and his mother's emotional requests. She says very clearly that she wants her son to tell her exactly what happened that night.

Do you think that is a good idea, in terms of his upcoming hearings and possible trial? Everything he says will be in transcript form and compared to prior statements he has made.

She is being selfish, in my opinion, by putting her own needs and wants above her son's future legal dangers.
And putting his life on the line.

I think CW’s understanding of women, and personality or lack thereof, has been shaped by his mother who I believe has an authoritarian personality, e.g. hypercritical, prejudice, shaming behaviours, intrusiveness, hatred and a need to punish. MrsW has displayed these qualities in her interviews with the media. To release her vitriol on his pregnant deceased wife and blame her for the deaths of Bella and CeCe is absolutely abhorrent and repugnant to me.

A major role that parents play in a child's life is to socialize them to the values and expectations of their culture. How this is accomplished can vary dramatically based upon the amount of control they attempt to exert over their children. Even after he chose to plead guilty to all counts, she’s still trying to take control of his life and he’s 33 years old. She spent a lot of time talking about his high school days. Why? Because for her, those were the good old days when he was living at home and still under her thumb. Now that Shan’ann is no longer, she’s trying to reclaim that control.

Authoritarian parents set the rules and have a "my way or the highway" approach to discipline. There is little room for negotiation and they rarely allow their children to make their own choices. While parents with this style have high expectations and strict rules, they also do not give their children much freedom to demonstrate that they can display good behaviour and make good choices. Rather than letting their kids make decisions on their own and face the natural consequences for those choices, authoritarian parents hover over their kids in order to ensure that they don't make mistakes. This is MrsW to a T.

The children of authoritarian parents tend to exhibit these effects:

They may act fearful or overly shy around others;

Often have lower self-esteem;

Have difficulty in social situations due to a lack of social competence;

Tend to conform easily, yet may also suffer from depression and anxiety;

May struggle with self-control because they are rarely able to make choices and experience natural consequences.

Shan’ann was the antithesis of his mother. No wonder he love bombed her. He realised his life could be so much better with someone, anyone, other than his mother.

No, but her son did. And she could have even mentioned her grandchildren if she were grieving so badly.
She hardly mentioned them, it was all about how her son was being badly treated by everyone and how awful his murdered wife was.
That is not grieving in my understanding of the condition.
Everything she named is the same thing every inmate has to endure. I wish she could understand, no one is picking on Chris and no one is keeping him away from her. Except Chris.

You are correct. When Laci was first reported missing, her own mother, Sharon, defended Scott. Sharon loved Scott and publicly stated she did not believe he harmed Laci. Then Amber Frey appeared and Scott's stories started getting more convoluted and Sharon came to the painful realization that he did hurt Laci. Scott's mother died years ago, but his family is still defending Scott. They continue to file appeal after appeal and they still insist that he did not kill Laci.

The dynamic of the relationship was different, however. Laci first fell in love with Scott and told about it to her mother. So Laci’s family viewed him as the man who reciprocated their daughter’s feelings. I understand how and why it was difficult for them to suspect Scott of foul play.

It was Chris Watts who fell in love with Shanann and started wooing her. So it is possible that Cindy Watts regarded Shanann as the “older, experienced” woman who took away her boy. Her lack of acceptance was triggered by sheer jealousy.

I am not sure that Chris was capable of love. The skater boy saw a woman who owned a house and thought that that looked pretty good for him and then he found a woman who was earning much more than he ever could and checked out on SW and thought that he was going on to much bigger and better things. But, he had to make his family disappear before this could happen.

I wonder if it is much simpler.

The Wattses are not exceptionally well off and can not afford a private lawyer for Chris. Were they able to, they’d have been coached what to wear, how to speak, what to say and not to say, how to present themselves with dignity, etc, etc. They would have never been on that podcast with weird name.

As it is, they were invited by some strange outfit...sorry, podcast, and consequently, they are presenting in the style and manner of the place, perhaps?

So we see them precisely as they are. Not too well aware of what is going on, trying to explain the inexplicable, average, occasionally, hysterical.

I am also thinking that Shanann-bashing sites they might have visited as well, and there is a huge group of people validating their way of thinking, and then some.

I am saddened and reminded from so long ago... when a wife would be stomped in the head, on a public sidewalk, in front of witnesses, because a husband said ‘she made me do it’!! My good god, are we going back in time??!? I can’t even! I thought my daughter had a better chance in the world we live in, I thought she would NEVER have to hear from anybody, “What did you do”!!
There is a lot of hicksville in this country who have nothing to do but troll online. It's an epidemic. I wish the whole internet was like here. It's like sitting by a warm cozy fire compared to the craziness of the rest of SM.

Most normal people, well off or not, do not have to have coaching on what to wear or how to speak, nor how to present themselves with dignity.
That does not come with being well off, it comes from your character.

That’s true. With coaching you can mask your true nature, without it, you show who you really are.

She did not have to talk to the press. She chose to and even had others facilitating that for her.
She has no problem throwing Shanann under the bus to get what she wants. A meeting with Chris.
I have lost two family members under the age of 3 so I get it. I don’t have on some rose glasses here.
It's just hard to understand how someone feels it's okay to intentionally hurt others.
Where is the documentation that she sought this out? Source please.
No one forced her to do the interviews.

I think that if they truly had a leg to stand on, and Chris' rights were really being violated, they wouldn't need a ton of dough right now for an attorney-someone would be chomping at the bit to take it on. My guess is that they've reached out to attorneys and have been turned down.

Yup. Because this case is a “loser” and was from the beginning.

There was never any doubt that this guy did it.

Who the hell wants to represent a guy who obviously killed his entire family, to include two little girls?

It will be interesting to see. He can make a statement. I wonder if he will?

Poll anyone? How many believe he will make a statement apologizing or otherwise taking some responsibility and how many think e won't make a statement at all?
I'm thinking no statement. Maybe it's a hope. I don't think he would state the truth so I really don't want to hear from him.
