All this Discovery stuff (in so many cases we discuss) involves the Defense alleging they’re still waiting for documents, they’ve been waiting for ____ time, the State has had them for ____ time, etc”

On the surface level (and I’m certainly no lawyer) I gotta imagine it is difficult to try and fully prepare for a trial if you don’t even have all/half/some/any amount of documents from the State yet. I know some legal experts have opined on reasons for prosecution to be slower in turning things over- so I get there can be some legitimate reasons in strategy for that - and it doesn’t help any side when in today’s world there is so, so much digital evidence.
