I’ll find out soon enough, but just out of curiosity does anyone know if the US airplane/travel restrictions also apply to privately owned planes flying in and out of community based airports for business travel?

Strange things can go on at a private airport.....MOO

Stay safe!!!

I wonder how effective closures will actually be.
Say for example Indiana closes public schools statewide & a lot of people from the state are allowed to work from home, but casinos, bars & restaurants remain open. So mom & dad finish work, go out for some gaming, food & drinks, then return home. What was accomplished?
Or perhaps people will drive across state lines to frequent establishments closed in their home state.
We had line crossing on a smaller scale in my county. After an outbreak in one county, people from that county converged on my county to shop & eat. Moo

My own thinking is that if a person already had been infected with COVID-19 and was testing negative, then the test results should indicate the immunity factor once we have that test developed, I think for antibodies. At some point we should know which negative is shown, once we have those tests. But I guess that will come much later. MOO

Replying to myself because having trouble to edit:
Note that I may have not said this properly, if others know better, please correct. Thanks. MOO.

CT - 1 new case announced in Hartford Region - 12 cases identified in CT a/o 3/13/2020:

Officials Announce First Confirmed Case of COVID-19 in Hartford Region

Quotes from article:

Officials have announced a the first confirmed case of the coronavirus in the Hartford region, a notice from Hartford HealthCare said Friday. This is the 12th reported case in Connecticut.

Officials said the patient is a woman in her 80s from Rocky Hill. She is receiving treatment at Hartford Hospital.

Leaders stressed that they have been expecting cases and that they anticipate more as the virus spreads in the community.

"Part of this process was to ensure that any patient that was flagged goes through the appropriate screening process and I can say that was successful," Keith Grant, part of the infectious diseases team at Hartford Hospital, explained.

The patient came into the emergency room and has been receiving treatment for a few days, officials said. They are investigating to see what points of contact she may have had.

Earlier in the day state officials said eleven people in Connecticut have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the statistics released by State Public Health Lab Friday afternoon, eight cases are in Fairfield County and three are in Litchfield County. One is a child under 20, one is a person ages 20-29, one is a person ages 30-39, three are people ages 40-49, one is 50-59, three cases are people ages 60-69, and one is a person 70 or older.

Another 125 tests have come back negative.

Dr. Matthew Cartter, the state epidemiologist, said that the new cases include residents of Bethlehem, Darien, Greenwich and Westport.

Cartter also noted that a child who lives in Rhode Island but goes to day care in Mystic has tested positive. That facility, which Ledge Light Health District officials confirmed as Precious Memories Place, is now closed.

A notice from the health district said parents would be contacted if their child is at risk for developing the virus.

As the new virus spreads across the U.S., the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued a global Level 2 travel alert. Level 2 means that the CDC is recommending that older adults or those who have chronic medical conditions consider postponing travel. This global alert includes travel in the U.S. China, Iran, most of Europe and South Korea remain on Level 3.

Kids are home from school, so..

Social Distancing: This is Not a Snow Day

1. We need to push our local, state, and national leaders to close ALL schools and public spaces and cancel all events and public gatherings now.

2. No kid playdates, parties, sleepovers, or families/friends visiting each other’s houses and apartments.

3. Take care of yourself and your family, but maintain social distance.

4. Reduce the frequency of going to stores, restaurants, and coffee shops for the time being.

5. If you are sick, isolate yourself, stay home, and contact a medical professional.

It just got a whole lot more real for me. :( We're trying to see now if my husband can work from home. My daughter is on March Break but we were just going to stay around the house. Now I'm scared of my husband being out around and getting sick. Most of his work is done in his office (he's in I.T) but there are times that his co-workers are dispatched to hospitals to do repairs.

Yes indeed. Dr. Corey Hebert spoke on MSNBC this morning and compared it to a negative pregnancy test. IFKWIM.

He also stated, interestingly, that if a person has already had it and didn't know, (mild case, few symptoms) they would test negative as well, due to developed immunity. IMO, I don't know if that would show up quite this quickly, but he put it out there.

Link is MSNBC Morning News/watched live interview.
Love this! What a neat analogy.

So here is the problem:

The need a Screening station: How do they identify the person? Brief interview about symptoms. Determine who appears to be showing symptoms? Take a temp, etc. Do they check insurance?

Then they need to do a rapid Influenza test and a rapid Strept test. So how long does someone in the car wait for those tests to be resulted? Where do they wait? Do they have to stay in the vehicle? What medical professional is responsible for each and every one of those test results?

Then based on the results, if Influenza & Strep negative, get Re-Swabbed for the SARS-CoV-3 test.

So how do they prevent repeat shoppers from overutilizing the resources? How do they deal with a family with multiple children?

This seems to be set for all sorts of trouble

I am happy to hear his school is closing!! My daughters BF died of an asthma attack at age 22. The risk is to great to be in public at this time.

I'm hoping the court system will close in your area, so you can finally feel a sense of relief. Have you considered going to your physician and discussing a LOA? We do still have FMLA, which entitles you to 12 weeks with job protection.

I’m self employed so if I don’t work I don’t get paid. I’m not sure what a LOA is. I have messaged my doctor to get a note stating I am high risk and should avoid courthouses (do court call rather than appear). But now she wants me to schedule an appointment to talk about the note. Which is concerning.

I was able to get a couple upcoming hearings for next week scheduled as court call hearings. But the problem is one is could become an evidentiary hearing (evidence presented) and if I’m not there I can’t examine any documents. Judge said I will not be able to get a continuance based on my inability to view documents presented.

However, I can still object based on hearsay and lack of foundation without seeing the docs (also, I have a good idea of what he’s going to try to present). And my client, who also has asthma and will be appearing telephonically with me, is in favor of court call as well despite the risk of not being able to see his documents.

I know I’m randomly just posting. I am reading some comments and plan to catch up soon while I hopefully relax.
Dealing with my adult son and some know my issues with him.

Anyhow. I work at one of our university’s. We just got our laid off notice now via email. We are to report Monday and then that is it until August. (Normally laid off from
Mayish onwards or can pick up random shifts through the limited businesses open during the summer season. Now that is also the unknown.
I’m feeling anxious and just sad.

Board approved our closure last night.
We will remain closed until at least March 31. Reassessment on the 26th.
Because I read here and am head of safety team, I pushed for April 6th, knowing this will get much worse. Two weeks is not going to help any. Too little too late.
NO materials should be returned. We are locking the drop boxes.
Promoting our cloudlibrary.
The public cannot be trusted not to infect staff of each other.
WI FI is available from outside the building for everyone to use. You can sit in your car and keep up with classes and work in the parking lot. Or bring a beach chair and sit on the lawn.e
As we left last night we grabbed gloves for home and raided the first aid kit. A co-worker watched a man spit on the ground and then spit on his hands at the gas station before grabbing the nozzle at the pump.
Glove up!
I was able to convey the seriousness of the situation calmly to my office mates all week because I was prepared and they needed to get ready.
I ordered pet food for home delivery for a co-worker that couldn't afford to load up on all family groceries and pet food at the same time.
I am the voice on the library voice mail. Had to make the closure announcement for recording and I missed saying goodbye to everyone. It breaks my heart.
It felt like doomsday Christmas break.

Thank you so much for ordering pet food for your co-worker that is so kind of you.

Louisiana has jumped again......to 67
We were at 51 and then 53 this morning
The Governor is on WDSU.com
Louisiana has been offered a "drive through" testing site.....and this is being
accepted but no details yet.
More to come.......
I’m glad our governor is being hyper vigilant.
The EPA released a list of products that were fast-tracked testing of products that will kill the corona virus. However, I had not heard of the vast majority of products. It does list how long each product takes to kill it.
