Deadly Snails Invading Houston; Carry Meningitis


HOUSTON, TX – A Giant African Land Snail has been discovered in the backyard of a Houston home. Now, researchers are sending out a serious warning. Scientists say the snails ARE extremely dangerous and they spread a deadly disease. People are being warned not to touch them.

"Turns out the big snail found in a Houston garden is beneficial, not bad. It was a rosy wolf snail, a predator of snails that devour garden plants, said Michael Warriner, invertebrate biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department."

I hate snails and slugs (shell less snails IMO). I don't even do escargot.

At least there's a snail that is beneficial...if only they didn't leave so much slime or freak me out! Ick!
