Defense FINALLY Begins Depo Process

I guess Baez is someone who just puts off hearing the inevitable bad news, cause I don't think any of those folks are going to be giving him information he is going to want to hear.:croc:

Two years later they finally depose folks that should have been deposed first. WTH?!!! One's priorities tell on them, eh?
Thanks to Nums:

I'm not sure, I think that may be the dullest of all of the depo's. The coroner is a very specific officer, operates under very rigid rules of documentation and reporting and is very hard to challenge. Especially in a case like this. (or by someone like JB). About the only things l=that might get interesting is questions about the duct tape. But otherwise it will mostly just be asking and repeating things from the already very detailed coroners report.

1. What is the cause of death, manner of death, are there any signs of prior abuse for the ME to detail to the jury?
2. The Body Farm experts who are going to testify that the body had indeed been in Casey's car, what exactly are they going to say?
3. The state CSI experts, the plant experts, the bug experts that will detail to the jury how long the baby's body was in the woods and what things were found with the skeleton, what will they testify to?
4.What are the FBI and LE officers going to testify to? How is the state going to prove PREMEDITATION?
5. The photo and computer experts who can testify about computer searches are so important! How much will it be compelling to a jury that some words Googled were "peroxide", "alcohol", and "acetone". "Inhalation""How to make Chloraform [sic]", "Chloraformhabit", and "chloro2" , and "Making weapons out of household products" ? Moreover that they found on Casey's computer, a search for an episode of One Tree Hill that depicts a the nanny who fits Casey's description of Zanny, long dark hair, straight teeth...a perfect ten. The episode is nearly identical to the nanny took the baby storyline. The experts that will testify that the hot body contest photos date to a time period when the defendant claimed to be on stake outs and searching for her daughter are very important.
Clearly, these are IMPERATIVE depositions. They are the alpha and the omega.

There is nothing, absolutely nothing, more important for the defense than to learn what hay they can make with their claim there is no certainty as to where, how or when the child was killed as far as the actual ME is concerned. This should have been depo number one in my opinion. Certainly making Kronk's felon ex wife and staff at a hotel where George drank beer and ate pizza 99 and 100.

The detectives and federal agents who literally are going to take the stand and say that they were told lie after lie, taken to places that are wholly different than what Casey claimed they were, walked down a hallway at Universal to Casey's imaginary job at her imaginary workplace, to the home of the imaginary nanny, and the nanny's imaginary mother's homes. The federal agents and detectives that were given imaginary time lines and wild outlandish, elaborate lies about the defendants whereabouts and activities surrounding the child's death are going to take to the stand and detail how every phone number, every name, every thing, every single thing they were told by Casey and often repeated by Cindy was a lie. LE and FBI agents who are going to tell the jury what they did and did not find that led to the arrest warrant, the blatant lack of cooperation, the lying by omission ( giving the wrong hairbrush when the FBI is trying to prepare a DNA profile for the missing toddler ), how the family sent away TES who had been invited by them to come to search for Caylee and ten thousand other things that are going to leave the jury with only one inference.....they are hiding something, desperately doing so; because, of course there is something to hide. Indeed.
Clearly these guys should have been interview number two. No question.

Knowing the case hinges on forensics, as soon ( and I am putting them in this order ONLY because their results were not immediately available) as the Body Farm completed its reports, this should have been depositions considered imperative. If they can somehow, by some miracle, get the testimony from experts in this field withheld from the jury that there was a dead body in the back of a vehicle that Casey has care custody and control over, for any time period whatsoever that would be a huge win for the defense. Even a child understands the seriousness of this testimony. It is the information that tips the scale for many.

The detectives and federal agents and CSI folks who are going to take to the stand and detail that duct special duct tape, Winnie the Pooh blanker, hamper, bags and the diaper pull- up remnants that were found with the skeleton match ( or are similar to ) the ones from the Anthony home . That cannot be a coincidence that ALL of these items match items in the home. They are going to testify that the the shorts and t shirt remnants found with the child are indeed seen on Caylee in photographs, RECENT PHOTOGRAPHS, a t-shirt; moreover, that the family just so happens to deny ever having seen.

The FBI agents and LE officers are going to testify who stepped forward to give information and who who cooperated and all of the steps they took, how many , how very many people they interviewed that have known the defendant for varying amounts of time, some since childhood, who have never met, seen, even heard mention of and certainly never witnessed Casey field a phone call from any Zenaida, Zenaida Fernandez, Ms. Gonzalez, Zanny or any variation of the babysitters name.

These men and women are going to testify to matters from A to Z, very very bad facts for the defendant, imo, while awaiting testing results from labs, these folks should have been deposed first and foremost. They are the basic jumping off point.

The medical examiner, LE and FBI agents, CSI folks they are the meat and potatoes, everything outside of that is like a garnish you throw on the plate.
Avoiding doing these depos for two years while spending thousands on other areas, two hundred and seventy five thousand dollars to be exact, is to me the most blatant proof that the defense was in the weeds from jump.
You just can't make this stuff up!

We learned in the last two hearings that the state offered a year ago to send or have the entomology expert come to review the evidence and the offers were neglected by the defense. What more important things could they possibly have been focused on?!!!!
A child would be able to list priority depos for the defense. In the words of Mark Nejame, "I am being overly generous in my characterization"!

All of'em LE, for this week.

This notice was filed 3/2, before the Motion for Indigency. Does that mean that we taxpayers don't have to pay for them? :)

Muzikman, has anyone told you lately....you ARE WebSleuths? Thank you for all you do. The A/P and CNN would be glad to have you. You get us the good stuff, often before the press has it. Love, love, love you for that!!!
You are appreciated here. Thank you.:blowkiss:

Just a quick observ. here.

These costs are unbelieveable and you can bet your last penny that Team Baez will spend as much of the tax payers money as possible. He's (IMO) having a total blast with all of this. It's a game to him. It's him seeking fame and fortune and blah blah blah.
IMO

As hard as it is to type. I'm thinking the State should just let the (insert word here) Have LWOP which means LIFE...her entire life til they carry her out in a wooden box.

My point to it all is, saving the State of Florida a kings ransom ,and besides, in reality, when would she really be put to death? When she's 50? And what's she gonna get anyways? A sweet little shot that puts her nigh-nigh.?
Nothing will bring Caylee back. Why bankrupt a State on a clown show?IMO

This is all a bunch of hooey. again, IMO

Isn't Jesse Grund supposed to be deposed by the d-team today? I thought I read that yesterday...

WFTV reported that Jesse G & Richard G are scheduled for today, but from myorangeclerk.com yesterday a notice of cancellation was filed, I'm not sure who was canceled. I guess we'll know later today.

08/10/2010 Notice of Cancellation of Taking Deposition Upon Oral Examination (for 8/11)

DEPOSITIONS CANCELLED BY CASEY'S DEFENSE

Casey’s defense team was scheduled to question more witnesses under oath Wednesday, but the depositions were cancelled.

Her attorneys were suppose to depose Casey's ex-fiance, Jesse Grund and his father, Richard Grund.

Casey's parents, George and Cindy Anthony asked detectives to investigate Jesse Grund as a possible suspect. Casey claimed she didn't trust him.

Investigators from the medical examiner's offices were also supposed to be questioned.

It seems they cannot multi-task and are back focused on Nejame and TES -- they will get back to the Grund's later as well as RK if this new fishing expedition attempt fails yet again. Try try try again.

These other SODDI targets are not so good so if they can find a TES searcher target willing to testify they did a personal search and there was no body at that time ... that is optimal.

maybe not
we have to pay for all of the prosecution though......right? ;)

We sure do. But its not like the victims are able to pay for their own justice. Im sure if they were given the chance they would.

Maybe better for the lawyers' thread but... are they ditching depos that they don't think will end up providing them reasonable doubt? "Rescheduled" or "de-scheduled"?
