I’ve got a very small update on the Google Drive thing.

New Britain Jane Doe has only one new match, bringing her total to 212.

Also, Apache Junction Jane Doe still does not have a match over 30 cm but her closest match went up to 27.9 cm.

Just in case anyone hasn't seen it yet, but Pulaski County "Jubel" Jane Doe is now in the GEDMatch system. She was a difficult one to get an extraction from. Good luck, DDP!

Any theory on why Mecklenberg JD has so few matches? She doesn’t appear fm case notes to be representative of a group that wouldnt be well be well represented in the same way as Portland JD.

They have identified a fourth cousin and a first cousin or niece in Alabama. She has a large family tree as well.

Good find, JovanSrna! I remember a case that was solved a year or two ago. It was a John Doe from 1921 who was hit by a train and he just got identified! Never say never.

Margaret mentioned the same thing a while back in a Facebook comment. Speaking of Carl and Margaret, people often ask the project about Walker County Jane Doe as a potential case. This is Carl's ''pet case'' in his own words. There was a comment by Margaret a while back suggesting someone else is working on it, but her more recent answer to one woman's question on Facebook suggests that they would take it and she suggested that the woman contact the agency responsible for the case.

Yeah, I saw that. I am sure Walker County PD knows who DDP is. They have also been approached about Beth Doe. Both are highly publicized cases. It would be good if they took those on. Get the DDP some good publicity, like with Lyle Stevik and Orange Socks.

This was posted on the DNA Doe Project Facebook page 2 hours ago (6pm EST) or thereabouts. I lived south of there in 1980 so was curious about this case.

DNA Doe Project Case Announcement: Rockledge Jane Doe – Brevard County, Florida (1980)

Who was Rockledge Jane Doe?
On October 11, 1980 a passing motorist found the body of a black woman on the east shoulder of an isolated rural road about 100 yards north of Barnes Boulevard in Rockledge, Brevard County, Florida. She had been shot in the head and the case is considered a homicide. She was 21-30 years old, weighed about 120 pounds, was 5’6, and had brown hair and eyes.

During the search for the woman’s identity the investigators discovered that she had been arrested in Pinellas County, about 150 miles to the west. The name she gave when booked was “Joanne English”, which turned out to be false, along with her Social Security number and date of birth. DNA, fingerprints, and dental records are available for comparison.
