Over the last 15 years, dozens of people have disappeared. Rusk County Sheriff Jeff Price says it is like they vanished "without a trace." Rusk County has one of the highest numbers of missing persons with eight unsolved cases since 2014. Sheriff Price explains this does not just happen in Rusk County. "I think most people will be shocked at the number of people that are actually missing, active open missing person cases in the East Texas area," Sheriff Price said.

I’m not great with anything but an old-fashioned atlas & google maps confound this Luddite. Can anyone tell how close to the I-10 corridor most of these counties are (Harris I know is.) and the highway running north-south that passes through Lufkin? Just mental spaghetti, MOO

isn't Gilmer really close where Kelly Dae Wilson went missing , there's all that satanic panic that went on so maybe it not just Rumor?
I never really bought the Satanic panic stories. But there could be something. Or maybe more likely just a couple of as yet unrecognized serial killers in operation in that area. Horrific to think about how many serial killers, maybe just getting started, there could be in the world that we don't even know about.

The total population of these counties is about 770,000 people. Thirty or so missing? That's not many. And that "without a trace" doesn't mean they just disappeared. It's a suspect statement as I doubt it's very accurate, and even if it is, it only means law enforcement didn't do a sufficient job, for whatever reason. This is a story designed to get ratings. Don't believe the hype. Most leave on their own accord. (That's also the surest way to "vanish without a trace.")

Wow, that is a shocking number of people.
As another poster stated, being unaccounted for does not mean foul play.

As a side note, "Deep East Texas" counties feature scenic beauty (rolling hills), small town living, and a culture ofl hospitality.

They also feature very little in the way of employment possibilities. Meanwhile, the booming metropolises of DFW and Houston are just a short drive away.... .
