After SMS spoke about "half-baked" people, he then says "I assure you that nobody in this room helped us." (2:24)
What do you get from that; kinda confused me.

In my view this comment was directed at the press, mainly because the press went from door to door asking local neighbors case related questions and inquiring about theories they may have based on their knowledge.

These theories may have directly or indirectly involved MS. If MS was to be arrested, he still has the essential right to a fair trial, no matter what we think about him or the case. An "unfair" trial, even though frequently attempted and rarely successful, can still lead to a void verdict.

Just trowing out something, that locals - including myself- are concerned about.

A few days after that SMS briefing, NBC-2 tried to interview MS ("No Comment"s) in the parking lot of the medical building, the DR S practice was/is located in. The young reporter asked MS about his possible involvement in the death of his wife. After several prior "No Comments" to the reporter's questions, MS looked straight at the young man and then left abruptly.
These kind of questions do not help the case! On the contrary, it is suggestive, that MS is somehow involved into his wife's death. And MS not commenting, makes it even worse.

But then even SMS' comments about the envelope of suspicion among else etc. did not help! I am thinking these comments were intentionally made. SMS is way clever and manages every single word he publicly uses as message carriers. The prosecutor has asked LCSO not to comment on the case any longer. Good way out! Intention fulfilled.

Again, no matter what we think, it will pivotal, that if a Grand Jury was to convene for whatever reason in this case, that any such juror be personally interviewed (scrutinized) by the judge, to establish no prejudice against the defendant or preference in this case.

MS not commenting on any questions from the media, may be aiming at exactly what I said: No words equals more fuel equals suspicion equals guilt. All IMO of course.

Iirc grand jury members are not interviewed as far as prejudice for any case that they hear, nor do they go through voire dire.

How are the jurors selected out of a pool other than by voir dire? The questioning is not a good way of finding bias, but it still helps to decide on the final jurors and their possible general beliefs. What I was suggesting is a very thorough voir dire to avoid any claims of a tainted jury later.

I think the sheriff was scolding the media, for being everywhere, and therefore, making LE's investigation more difficult.

Who knows? Maybe some of the reporters got ahead of the game? Nobody does it better than NBC2. They had Joe Roetz in MO, before anybody even knew there was a connection there!

The reporter's job is, primarily, to investigate. Reporters loved Dr. Sievers, too. They want justice, too.

Bryan Anderson didn't back down an inch, and threw in an excellent question at the end of that interview (which has popped-up on WS over and over, again--so it was a very relevant question).

Every single anchor and reporter at NBC2 are top-of-the-line professionals, and I am sure they would be careful not to cross the blue line. The reporters' investigations are invaluable to LE--why? Because more people would more easily talk to a reporter, than to a cop, or to a detective.

The sheriff was stressed, but very well composed. He said he would address the media situation aggressively and professionally--and he did: All docs were sealed. He won...for now.

But, don't forget to tune in tomorrow (Thurs.) to NBC2 at 6pm. They will be interviewing Kenny Cousins, Teresa's ex-husband. And it sounds like it's going to be juice-y!

I agree. Funny how he called them "half-baked." You can feel his frustration.

My view of the comments 'half-baked' and 'forcing a timeline to fit someone's agenda' maybe had to do with the articles about the screams heard. The screams or yelling or shouting or arguing, whatever they were leading people to believe she was killed early Monday morning when in reality, those screams, if they were heard, had nothing to do with TS according to Sheriff Scott recently.

DCF now involved in Sievers murder investigation

Sheriff Scott speaks
“Just because Mark Sievers is not under arrest does not mean he’s not going to be arrested,” Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott said. “Our timeline is typically different from general curiosity and the general curiosity of the public and certainly any other deadlines assigned by media or otherwise.”
Scott added there’s more to the case than what was presented in court documents.
“Look how patient we’ve been thus far,” he said. “Look at how this thing unfolded and how methodical and patient we’ve been. All the while in the face of the community and media and others saying ‘OMG’ what’s taking so long?”
Mark Sievers has always been in the “envelope of suspicion,” said Scott, who added that the case is not over.
“So it’s an active and ongoing investigation and we’re not bashful about making an arrest,” he said. “We have no problem arresting people, but we do so when the time is right, particularly in a case like this. There’s a great deal at stake and we want to make sure everything is correct.”

Top question: Will Mark Sievers be arrested?

Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott said he could not comment about Mark Sievers' role, but said the investigation is ongoing.

“If they look at the total body of work it’s pretty clear we’re being very thorough,” he said but added that there are reasons for everything that is done and not done.

“The problem is we can’t discuss those reasons,” said the sheriff, who is on personal trip to Tennessee.

“We have a group of people who did so much planning on the crime itself but never planned what to do if they got caught. They were very methodical and crafty,” he said. “But there was no plan B.”

On the release of the public records Tuesday, the sheriff said he was glad the thousands of pages of documents came out.

“That information in the public realm, that’s not all,” he said.

Now that they have unraveled, he says he has everyone right where he wants them. "They're not able to communicate with each other anymore. Those channels of communication have been cut off, so as a result the old saying about snakes biting each other will come to fruition."

I'm wondering, since SMS is confident that the public and I'm assuming the girls, if they may have the house bugged.

Sheriff Mike Scott BBM:

“You’re talking about the burglary, the pried door and that the scene was staged,” Scott said while attending a crime task force meeting with Fort Myers city officials on Friday. “I would be careful in just assuming that the hammer was this, or this is this, or this is that. The case is far more complicated than folks realize and I think some walk a slippery slope trying to solve it before it’s all out.”

Despite thousands of pages outlining the evidence against Rodgers and Wright and investigators’ suspicions of Mark Sievers’ involvement, Scott said the case is far from over.
“What I would say is you see continued focus, tenacity, forward progress,” he said of the documents. “There’s a lot going on that we can’t talk about, a lot. They’ll continue to release documents and the picture will continue to become a little more clear.”

SMS is so understated. There is so much more LE cannot reveal. A couple of things I took note of...early on LE had a good understanding of the "nontraditional" personal & professional relationship between TS and MS based upon digital evidence....groundbreaking testing involving the "digital platform", testing of animal dander can take months, so that must be quite significant...MS cooperated early on, now "noncooperative", more explosive details to follow but SMS could not elaborate.

This the first time SMS has mentioned a girl...that caught my attention.

Yeah, I caught that. He said "or She".

I didn't hear him say he or she...have to listen again. But I did hear him say"bad guys....or girls" when referring to people who put everything out there on the "digital platform." The would be 2 intimations about a potential female suspect.

He said more than that..He talks about bad guys/girls, yes, but also about folks rating restaurants..Marker 11:26 ff .-Nin

I didn't realize until listening to that interview that they had TS cell phone almost immediately. I think I remember that it was at the scene but for some reason, I was thinking it was smashed or whatever. But it sounds like they might have gotten info from her phone immediately. Which may be part of the staging for them to find it. Also, after hearing him speak about the staging and the pics may not be what they seem (I don't think that was in this interview Behind the Scenes but I remember hearing it), I am beginning to think the hammer at the scene was not the weapon. My guess is the hammer that was in the possession of JR was the one. SMS is adamant that in the end we will clearly know all of the whos, whats, whens, and wheres. Waiting for those explosive details!

Now that would be an interesting way to communicate with your hit man--coded restaurant reviews.
