The fact that clothes were burnt begs the question: Why burn the clothes?

Possibilities:

1. To get rid of evidence of a crime, such as poisoning that resulted in vomit.
2. To stage an abduction where the kidnapper is getting rid of the baby's clothes (but come on, there is no real benefit to burning them.)
3. To simply stage something that leads detectives NORTH instead of SOUTH.
4. A combination of the above.

MOO.

5. An attempt to hide her scent from tracking dogs.
6. Get rid of any DNA of the kidnapper's that would be on her clothing.

Speaking of the dumpster fire, it's interesting that Debbie says she was confronted with the burnt clothes. In an earlier interview (at least a few days after the crime) she said that she had heard something about it, had asked a family member about it and didn't hear if anything came of it. Jeremy said he hadn't heard of it at all.

Well, they both lied there, IMO. Debbie knew about it because she was confronted with the burnt clothes by police, and you know she talked about it with Jeremy. Jeremy would have known about it anyway if he had any curiousity about finding his daughter Lisa.<modsnip> MOO.

Why do you think the clothes were burned in the dumpster? They could have been burned in the woods. I bet I missed something again. :innocent:

7. Make it harder for a body to be identified on sight, in the event the child was found before it had time to decompose.

Wait...maybe we are assuming too much here. How do we know she was shown baby clothes?

Oh Lord. What if she was kidnapped by a perv and he burned the clothes to hide the physical evidence?

I can't think about this anymore tonight. I'm going to bed.

I voted yes, because hearing about it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Since reading this thread, I think it's very likely.

So mom knew about the dumpster fire, mom knew about some burned clothes...

But dad didn't?

Wouldn't that be something a reasonable person might discuss? It seems to me absolutely impossible that they didn't discuss these huge developments.

But then, this feeds into my current "theory" (danger of confirmation bias but oh well) that dad was and is in deliberate denial. He loves his <mod snip> woman, and while nothing in her story makes the slightest bit of sense to anyone, including him, he would rather not think about it. His entire world is in the process of being wiped out, his child is likely dead, his wife is likely going to prison, his bills are piling up with no way to pay, he might lose his other two kids, home, cars, everything... and really there is NOTHING he can do other than just tune it all out, be supportive, and hope that somehow everything will turn out okay.

And the sad thing here, one of many many sad things actually, is that in my opinion mommy would set his sorry *advertiser censored* up in a second if she thought she could get away with it. I suspect that this poor guy is in for a major character assassination in the very near future, and much like George Anthony he will stand there with a glazed look in his eyes, accepting it.

MMO, etc

I think it's safe to say LE did show her burnt clothing during an interview. I've seen LE show smoking guns to suspects on shows like The First 48 trying to get people to talk, and a lot of times it works.

I'm sure this was nothing more than a tactic used by LE to see if she would crack, but IF the dumpster had nothing to do with it, I think it would be difficult to make her crack by showing her the clothing.

A lot of people say "she said this, she said that, and I wonder if she's lying about seeing the clothes" trust me... Anything that she says on camera in regards to what she has told LE she will most likely stick with the story on camera as they can be compared to interview with LE, so I seriously seriously seriously doubt she is lying about that. Anything else she says as far as "I put her to bed this time, I left the door unlocked, etc etc" you can't find credible as it's nothing proven factual. JMO

I'm still sticking with the opposite. Water, not fire. Look in the river.

From monitoring the police scanners, dumpster fires are very common.
Almost every fire department lists them in statistics.

Here is a great example here: (Spokane Fire Department)

http://www.spokanefire.org/departments/statistics/default.aspx

My husband is a retired fireman - Los Angeles City Fire Dept. Throughout his career on the fire dept., dumpster fires were very common. In some areas of the city they were a daily occurrence. Kids - young teens and up would set a dumpster on fire just to see the fire engines race to the scene.

In the poll, I voted "maybe" as we don't know if dumpster fires are a frequent or rare occurrence in that area.

Even in hindsight, if LE told her about the dumpster fire, why would she assume LE was screwing with her? Is it because she knows Lisa's clothes weren't burnt in a dumpster? Or because she knows they WERE burnt in the dumpster?

My point is this...if I genuinely have no idea what happened to my child, and LE accuses me of killing my child and shows me burnt clothes, my reaction is gonna be, "OH MY GOD!!! MY BABY!!!", not, "Hey man, quit screwing with me."

That is the kind of response I'd expect to see from someone who knows exactly what happened to as child, not someone clueless.

I agree. Did she deny the burnt clothes were Lisa's? Just me, but I'd prolly be asking more questions of the officer than he did of me if they showed me burnt clothes!

We only know it was a dumpster fire. Near an apartment building. All of the things inside were most likely garbage, trash, refuse (lol) from the tenants of the building. It is possible someone put baby clothes in and they were not Baby Lisa's, or it is possible they were, but that is less likely.

Most likely some angst ridden teens set it on fire on purpose or threw a lit cigarette in either on purpose or not.

Wasn't there a 2nd dumpster fire a few days later? Thought I saw 2 on the map. If so, I'm going with the idea of teens or perhaps a bit older, just angst ridden vandals.

I agree, and let's not forget there was an entire day and thread about everyone being upset that the Irwin's would not talk with a man who was there to talk about LE blaming him in his child's kidnapping. Now they are talking. I would guess DB is thinking now it is okay to say these things out loud about LE as everyone seemed it was a sign of guilt that she would not talk with the man.

Also with this being an apartment complex, ask your husband about dumpster fires in apartment complexes vs business dumpster fires and maybe comment back.

Pretty common somone also leaves things smoldering and just throw it out. I own a fire restoration company and I've been out on a lot of carport fires at complexes. As far as Kansas City, very common for dumpster fires.

Another WS member here stated there was a dumpster fire the Monday evening Deborah went to get wine. She stated a cleaning crew woman threw a cigarette in the dumpster. This occured at the old Sams Town Casino that is now owned by a health care provider that is just on the north side of the Missouri river (that I wish they would put all their efforts into searching)

Is this referencing two hours before he went to work, or what time did he get home???
???
???

When the videos came out the next day of reporters interviewing people in the neighbourhood, DB was seen in the background of one talking to investigators. She was wearing grey plaid flannel pyjama pants and a hoodie or sweatshirt. So she obviously changed at some point in the evening. And if she was as drunk as she claimed and possibly "blacked out" before "passing out" she wouldn't likely have done that at 10:30pm when she claims she went to bed.

So either she wasn't that drunk and did change for bed or she was cold with the t-shirt and capri pants she had on earlier in the evening and changed then because she was sitting outside on the porch all evening.

I wonder if LE have found the clothes she was wearing in the store surveillance video?

Stretches the imagination to imagine LE would suspect Jeremy had an accident with Lisa prior to going to work and DB found out about it later. 2 young boys, a 4 year old, and the neighbor were all at that house some time during the evening. When was Jeremy and/or Debbie supposed to have covered all this up? He claims he left for work at 5:20. We see Debbie and little brother happily waltzing into the grocery store to buy wine at 5:00.

Uh uh...he's talking about the 2 hours he was home AFTER work. I'd bet my farm on it.

The comment about two hours piqued my interest too, Indepmo. Does it mean LE suspects something happened to Lisa before he went to work? Or, is it possible JI got home earlier than 4 a.m.? Was there a period of time that night where his whereabouts have not been substantiated?

Mountain Kat, do you know if anyone other than JI or DB, saw or heard Lisa that evening, even the boys? Earlier, posters were asking if anyone else had seen the baby after the birthday party on Sunday. Do you know if that was ever answered? TIA
