Day 2 Of Digging At Townhome Of Woman Who Vanished Over 30 Years Ago

For a second day, Miami-Dade police investigators and workmen in coveralls and masks dug up the rear concrete patio, and the dirt beneath it, of a townhome in Northwest Miami-Dade’s Lakes of Acadia neighborhood.

Police refuse to confirm that they are looking for evidence in the disappearance of Behdokht Behnia Pyke who went missing.

The circumstances of Behdokht Pyke’s disappearance are not known. Her life is a mystery. There is no record of her employment, if she was a student or unemployed.

A search of multiple archives shows her disappearance did not make news at the time, and hasn’t since investigators with shovels and digging machines showed up at the townhome on Tuesday. They are expected to return Thursday.

Investigators have confirmed that the current search is connected to the disappearance of Behdokht Pyke.

There's a discrepancy in the reporting on when Behdokht was last seen. NamUs and Charley Project list the date of disappearance as August 1981. This article says 1982 as well as January 1981. I'm guessing they meant January 1982. Not sure if that's when she was last seen or when a missing person's report was filed.

After digging up a yard in northwest Miami-Dade related to the disappearance of a woman in 1982, police are now interviewing the woman's family.

Pyke was 29 years old when she went missing in January 1981.

Homicide detectives might be close to making arrests in the disappearance of a Miami Gardens woman more than 30 years ago.

Miami-Dade police said they have traveled out of state to interview multiple family members who might be responsible for Pyke's disappearance.

Behdokht was from Tabriz, Iran, and applied for naturalization in 1981. This was approved a few months later.

Could someone in her life have not wanted her to become an American citizen? She went missing a matter of months after being naturalized, and authorities were questioning family members regarding her disappearance.

ETA: After reading further, surely she wasn't killed for her property?! jmo
