• The subheading: "Garcia knew Markel's ex, Wendi Adelson, through her brother, Charles, who was dating the mother of his two children at the time."

Garcia may have had contact with Charlie but that's yet to be shown. Garcia probably knew who Wendi is through Kathy, given his 2,700 calls to Kathy preceding the murder. But there is nothing to suggest Garcia had any direct contact with any of the Adelson family members, including Charles.​

• "After Wendi and Markel divorced, Wendi attempted to move closer to her family with their two sons but was forced back by court order. Prosecutors say that prompted the Adelson family to recruit Garcia."

The DM conveniently leaves KM out, who was the link between Charles and Garcia. There is nothing to link Garcia to the Adelson family as of this date and the DM has no access to facts other than what the US papers have reported.​

• "Police claim Charles Adelson, 39, (left) knew one of the two career criminals who carried out the 2014 execution-style killing of FSU law professor Daniel Markel (right) who was once married to Adelson's sister, Wendi Adelson ... Now, police have connected Charles with alleged killer Garcia."

Not true. All that's in the PC is Charlie having been "personally involved" with KM, who is the mother of Garcia's 2 children. Nothing else has been reported that connects Charles to the 2 "career criminals." All we know is only KM had direct contact and it was the father of her 2 kids, Garcia, not Rivera. No contact has been established between KM and Rivera either.​

That's not what prosecutors said. The PC only established motivations for the murder and established a direct link between Charles and Kathy Magbanua. There is no eyewitness to the shooting. No one saw the 2 career criminals at the crime scene. There is only a witness who saw a green Prius leaving the scene. Most of Dan's neighbors were not present at the time of the murder. They had to be reached later after they had gotten back to their homes by LE.​

• "Detective believe that the close-knit Adelson family plotted to have Markel killed after he dragged Wendi away from where they were living in South Florida."

The first part may be accurate but the second is misleading. Wendi may have moved her stuff and kids to South Florida to be with her family but she never resigned her position. She would continue in her position for 2.5 years longer after she filed for divorce. Dan and Wendi were both residents of Tallahasse. Dan since 2005. Wendi since 2007.​

• "The passenger, described as Hispanic, carried a black object in his hand and fell into a canal while hurrying to a small car parked in an adjacent neighborhood."

The passenger is Rivera, who was seen carrying a black object and was soaking wet when he had returned with Garcia to the green Prius. The black object is seen after the dunking, not before. Plus they were never seen "hurrying back" to the Prius that's parked in an "adjacent neighborhood." This is Florida. You can't walk from one neighborhood to another.​

• "What's more, a witness at a local motel reported to police he rented a room to the duo on the afternoon of July 17. They checked out early on July 18."

False. This witness did not rent a room to the duo. He helped Rivera rent a room in his (that is the witness') name at N. Monroe on the night of 7/17/2014. He had previously met Garcia and Rivera a month or more before the murder in Tallahassee, thus giving rise to thoughts that he's an acquaintance of King Tato and Sig Garcia and therefore affiliated with gangs. It was never reported that he's a motel clerk.​

That's why the DM is a tabloid and their modus operandus of playing fast and loose with the facts was exposed by Gawker of all places.

What difference does this make? If Garcia or Rivera does not turn over, the case is over. They can't even get to KM, if they balk. If they get to KM, then they have to get to Charles. KM has to turn over. There are several things that have to take place before they get to someone who ordered the murder. It's not a done deal that there will be arrests. In fact, if Charles never had any contact with Garcia, this thing could stop at KM and they may not be able to get any further. <mod snip>

I think the article was spot on for the most part. Some of the clarification that the poster gave sounded similar to what the article was stating.

Such as Garcia was connected to Wendi Adelson. Now of course this doesn't mean Wendi ever knew Garcia.

But the connection was through Charles and KM on behalf of having Wendis husband murdered.

So there is a connection if someone did ask how is Wendi connected to Garcia in terms of the death of her husband.

Jmo. The article was okay in my eyes and they didn't really falsely report anything for salacious views.

Plus they may have gathered some undisclosed information from the indictment docs as well. Jmo.

This case reminds me of Sheila Bellush, who was murdered by a hit man, hired by her ex husband, Allen Blackthorne. They had been arguing over child custody. From the beginning, I felt Blackthorne was involved, but it took LE three years for his arrest. It took that long for the hit man and middle man to implicate the person who hired them.
