13.75 years is the average length of stay on Death Row prior to execution.

A Death Row cell is 6 x 9 x 9.5 feet high. Florida State Prison also has Death Watch cells to incarcerate inmates awaiting execution after the Governor signs a death warrant for them. A Death Watch cell is 12 x 7 x 8.5 feet high.

Men on Death Row are housed at Florida State Prison in Starke, FL, and Union Correctional Institution in Raiford, FL. The women on Death Row are housed at Lowell Correctional Institution Annex in Lowell, FL.

Death Row inmates are served meals three times a day: at 5:00 am, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am and from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Food is prepared by prison staff and transported in insulated carts to the cells. Inmates are allowed plates and spoons to eat their meals. Prior to execution, an inmate may request a last meal. To avoid extravagance, the food to prepare the last meal must cost no more than $40 and must be purchased locally.

The inmates may shower every other day.

Death Row inmates are counted at least once an hour. They are escorted in handcuffs and wear them everywhere except in their cells, the exercise yard and the shower. They are in their cells at all times except for medical reasons, exercise, social or legal visits or media interviews. When a death warrant is signed the inmate is put under Death Watch status and is allowed a legal and social phone call.

Death Row inmates can be distinguished from other inmates by their orange t-shirts. Their pants are the same blue colored pants worn by regular inmates.

Old Sparky is retired. It malfunctioned the last time it was used so they put it up.......for now. The State of Florida is reconsidering a "tune-up" and putting it back into action though.

The reality of it is, its one of the sentences she could be charged with, the OP was sharing info on how this process works in FL, no where did they state she is going to death row or this is her fate, I dont find it tasteless.

I think it is going to be a capital case, so it's a good information thread. This is really why Casey had the Anti-DP graphic on her laptop, she knew she'd be facing it.

We have spent the last 3 months discussing this possibility, and make no mistake, it IS a possibility. The state attorney has not decided if they will or will not seek the death penalty in this case...what that means is there is a 50/50 chance that THIS is exactly what Casey will face in the event that she is found guilty of the crimes that she has been indicted for this very day. We have discussed it to death, and here it is, in all its ugly glory-THE DEATH PENALTY...It is not a pretty thing. It is a sentence of death, similar to the one that Caylee was handed at the age of 2 at the hands of someone whom she trusted. We have all, for the most part, believed her to be guilty based on the evidence unto which we have been privileged to have access and have disussed it freely and our hopes that she would pay for what she has done to her daughter. She may be innocent in a court of law, but this ain't court, and she ain't innocent HERE...we have found her guilty a thousand times over, and THIS, this horrible and unthinkable thing is the potential end result of that. There is nothing distasteful about it-it is what it is...

I appreciate the information and think this is a very topical thread. I'm curious about those who found the thread and the govt. photos offensive-- are you opposed to the death penalty?

I oppose the death penalty, but it's a reality in the context of this case. There's only one woman on FL Death Row right now-- At the moment, I don't see Casey being sentenced to death (if convicted)-- especially because she and the victim share the same family.

I didn't see the pics either, but I've seen pics of California's death row... nothing gruesome about them, just an ugly green rooom with a gurney with straps, that looks like a "chamber" of metal like you might find on a submarine but larger.

After many years of reading here at Webleuths I cannot count how many times that has been used...respectfully, and please I mean no offense...this is not a court of law...its a discussion Board.

If we are going to be that PC or sensitive...then IMO we should not be here at all...
