Skeletal remains found at Gemini Springs Park in DeBary

DEBARY, Fla. – Skeletal remains were found at Gemini Springs Park, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the remains were found Friday night in the woods, right off a main trail near Dirksen Road.

The bones were collected by authorities and submitted to a medical examiner for further investigation, according to authorities.

This is an ongoing investigation.

I posted this on the Leila Cavett thread. It’s approximately 3,5 hours away from Hollywood, FL.
Maybe later we will find out this is a lost hiker.
In any case someone will have they loved one or family back.

44 Miles from that park to Disney

The park is also on the route of folks driving from Jacksonville to Orlando it seems. Would be one of the two main routes from Jax (and South Carolina, through Jax) to Orlando as to routes to Disney per Google Maps

The distance from Sanford to Gemini Springs Park is less than 8 miles. Perhaps this is Robert Ford.

This is a straight shot down the road (about 1.5 miles) from where Yessenia Suarez and her kids went missing. Probably not likely after all this time, but she's probably the closest missing person to where this UID was found.

Volusia County deputies search for answers after skeletal remains found at a park

Investigators are now working to determine how long they were there and whether or not they can make a positive identity.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office called this an active investigation and they plan to meet with the medical examiner on Tuesday.

Definitely fits the profile of a homeless person. Maybe it won’t take long to ID them simply because others may know their name.

Deputies responded to the park at 1921 Evard Ave. just before 6 p.m. Tuesday after two park visitors went down a path into the woods and discovered the remains, which were surrounded by blankets, bags and other items consistent with a campsite of a transient person.
