Cape Coral police sent an alert about the missing woman on Monday. Diane Ruiz, 43, is 5'5" with brown hair and brown eyes, according to CCPD. Ruiz has a tattoo of a dragon and rose on her back.

She was last seen walking from her boyfriend's house in the 200 block of NW 3rd Terrace around 9:15 a.m. Police found her purse at Hector Cafferata Elementary School, but there was no other trace of her.

Ruiz has two children, a daughter and a son.

Ruiz is a bartender at the Moose Lodge and didn't show up for work there on Monday. The manager of the Moose Lodge said police came by asking for camera footage on Tuesday morning.

At present, two separate teams of detectives, along with support personnel, are working each individual investigation. Preliminary information suggests that the same person of interest from the initial death investigation may be involved in the disappearance of Diane Ruiz. ...

othing else really said here than this.

When I woke was hoping to see a hopeful update on the news. They are all covering the case but the way the story comes out with the connection to the other case makes it sound like they have little hope they will find her or if they do it will be a body recovery. Praying for a good outcome.

Cape Coral police say they have located a body in the woods only blocks away from the place where missing Diane Ruiz worked.

Police say they cannot yet confirm the identity of the body but there are “characteristics and similarities” to Ruiz.

However, family say they have been contacted by police and confirmed it is her, wearing the same clothes she went to work in, a blue Moose Lodge shirt.

Living in Cape Coral, this is very scary for me! It is a very nice place to live in SWFL. I’ve constructed the below timeline from news and police reports if anyone is interested:

Sunday 10/6 PM—video shows car drove up to Kristine Melton’s house then left. Neighbors heard her say Hi.

Monday 10/7 8:50am POI shows up at 2000 block 1st Street in Fort Myers in Nissan Versa (Kristine Melton’s car) and allegedly assaults girlfriend.

Monday 10/7 9:30-11:30am Diane Ruiz last seen at 200 block of NW 3rd Terrace.

Monday 10/7 10:15-11:15am police state Nissan Versa traveling east bound on Pine Island Rd.

Monday 10/7 PM Kristine Melton announced deceased in 4800 block of Tudor Drive. Diane Ruiz reported missing. At 8pm witness told police POI came to work covered in blood and told that he stabbed someone. Police received info POI was in vacant house in 2000 block NE Terrace. (4.3 miles SE of where Diane Ruiz’ body was eventually found). Neighbors saw/heard police presence before midnight. POI was arrested.

Thursday 10/10 Diane Ruiz’ body was found in 200 block of NW 4th Ave (0.4 miles NE from where she was last seen).
