MIAMI -- A mother and her two young daughters were found dead in a closet on Tuesday, police said.

A neighbor who has access to the house on NW 4th St. noticed a foul odor around 2:30 p.m. and discovered three bodies in a bedroom walk-in closet, according to Miami-Dade Police. The girls were aged four and eight.

"As far as whether or not this was somebody who knew them, it's still too early to tell, we are exhausting all leads."

Police said Machado's 6-year-old son was safe with his grandmother.

The children's father gathered along with friends and family members outside the home Tuesday as police continued their investigation. Neighbors said Machado lived with a boyfriend who was recently released from jail, according to the Herald.

Espinoza said she last tried to reach Machado about 10 p.m. Friday. Machado didn’t reply.

Hours earlier, Machado had posted a cryptic message to Facebook.

“Where this road goes no one knows,” she wrote from Homestead.

Monday evening, another friend posted a message on Facebook saying she was unable to find Machado.

“Im looking for my bff gladys machado plz call me asap!!” Channon Castro implored.

Neighbors said Machado was living with a boyfriend who was recently released from jail.

Records show that a 29-year-old man with an extensive criminal record lived at the home.

Alberto Sierra in October 2010 was accused of domestic battery on Machado, then using her former married name of Padrino.

According to an arrest report, the two had been dating for two months and were living together in Homestead. During a “heated argument,” Sierra bit Machado on the left forearm, then stole her gun and drove off in a maroon Ford Expedition.

“The only way you’re getting this gun back is to shoot me,” he told her before escaping, according to the report.

This is horrible! People need to 1.) stop killing people (duh!) and 2.) stop putting innocent children in harm's way. May they RIP and may the little boy find peace one day.

This is what happens when a mother brings into her children's lives and their home a man who recently got out of jail. I am sorry that the mom was killed but I feel worse for the daughters who had no choice in who the mom moved into their home.When will woman wise up?To bad that judge did not pay attention to what their dad had to say.That poor dad he tried to save his children.Being reckless is fine if there are no children.
Sick of seeing children paying such a horrible price just because mommy picked a loser.

The grand jury indictment will allow prosecutors to seek the death penalty.

Sierra was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday but that hearing was reset for January 31st.

Sierra, who reportedly confessed to the murders during questioning by police, filed a written plea of not guilty on November 29th.

Padrino (father of the girls) asked for sole custody of the children, writing a judge that his daughter’s lives were in danger.

But the Department of Children and Families closed out its investigation when Sierra was arrested in November of 2011 on charges of possessing a firearm by a convicted felon.

I wonder why they closed out the investigation when he WAS arrested??? If this father had been given custody, these girls might be alive today.
