Dwayne Williams, the suspect in the attempted homicide, has not been named as a person of interest in the investigation. Cole's cousin believes the cases are related.

"She kept getting threats to be paid off not to testify and she was scared," her cousin Siamone Hicks previously said.

Cole's family, now caring for her three-year-old son, is confident she was taken by force.

“We’re a very close family. She just wouldn’t leave like this. She checked in with her aunts all the time, that’s who has her son. She would never leave like this," Hicks said.

In the Fox 13 News article dated 2/16/2019, Dewayne Williams, the boyfriend, is named as a person of interest in her disappearance. The other article, ABC News dated 8/15/2019, it is stated Dewayne Williams, is not a person of interest. I don't know which one is correct but I certainly have my own opinion....

Deputies search for missing endangered woman from Hernando County

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office confirmed Saturday that Cole's ex-boyfriend, 41-year-old Dwyane Williams, has been named a person of interest in her disappearance.

Previous attempted homicide victim missing for over 6 months

Dwayne Williams, the suspect in the attempted homicide, has not been named as a person of interest in the investigation. Cole's cousin believes the cases are related.

This is horrific for Keyonna, her unborn child( she lost at 5 months pregnant) her living child, her family.

Come on Hernando County and the State of FL.
So the attempted murder charges get dropped because the accused can not be located?
Keyonna I am sorry you were not better protected.

And the victim is missing presumed by me to be missing by foul play.
And charges dropped!!!
How hard could it be to find Cole?
Maybe some old time Justice was served up. Maybe he finally strangled the wrong person.

This is outrageous. Exactly the out come Cole wanted. So he gets away with it all.

Her family and child deserve to have answers and Keyonna deserves to be able to tell her story.

Expert: 'Missing white woman syndrome' drives coverage
''Spectrum Bay News 9 examined the case of Keyonna Cole — a mother, sister and friend who has been missing since early 2019.

According to Hernando County detectives, in October of 2018 Cole, who was 5-months pregnant, was the victim of an attempted homicide. During the attack, she lost her unborn child.

She was set to meet with the state attorney’s office the on Feb. 11, 2019, about the domestic attack, but she disappeared the night before. Cole hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Her case remains unsolved and is now considered a cold case.

Christina Voltaire’s family still has more questions than answers too.

According to Winter Haven Police, Voltaire was last seen at her apartment Jan. 8, 2011. She was reported missing by her estranged boyfriend’s brother. The detective on her case has retired and her disappearance remains unsolved.

If these cases don’t ring a bell, Natalie Wilson with the Black and Missing Foundation says that is no accident.

“This is an opportunity to consider the conversation that media coverage isn’t fair and that law enforcement doesn’t always assist with these cases," she said. "But we’re not picking on the media and law enforcement. I think all of us collectively, we have a role to play."

With her background in media relations and her sister-in-law’s background in law enforcement, they formed the Black and Missing Foundation in 2008.

“We decided to do some research to see if there’s an issue of missing persons of color getting media coverage, because we definitely did not see ourselves in the media when we’d go missing,” said Wilson.''

When prosecutors received a letter from Cole shortly after the attack saying someone else was responsible, they called her to come in and talk in person. But Cole never showed up there or anywhere else.

[...]

“We have run down every lead so far. I’ve been doing other things I can’t really comment on but we’re actively working her case,” said detective George Loydgren, who is the lead cold case investigator at the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Their agency recently got another tip days after the Spectrum Bay News 9 story aired about “Missing White Woman Syndrome”. The story highlighted the differences in the attention given to Petito’s case compared to cases like Cole’s.

“Information came in, I ran it down and we went and here in the community. We went and looked with cadaver dogs, digging, sifting, going through everything in order to try to locate Keyonna so that part is never over until we locate her,” Loydgren said.

[...]

“Everybody knows what happened,” said Detective Loydgren. “Everybody knows what happened to Keyonna also so there’s no secret. The secret is for us because we obviously have to prove what happened to her not just whispers of people saying, ‘Hey, this is what we believe happened or this is what we know happened.’ People are afraid.”

Cole’s family is hoping that fear does not stop someone from doing the right thing.
