Description of Ashley’s charge:
MURDER — SECOND DEGREE
§ 782.04(2), Fla. Stat.
To prove the crime of Second Degree Murder, the State must prove the following three elements beyond a reasonable doubt:
1.(Victim) is dead.

2.The death was caused by the criminal act of (defendant).

3.There was an unlawful killing of (victim) by an act imminently dangerous to another and demonstrating a depraved mind without regard for human life.

Definitions.
An “act” includes a series of related actions arising from and performed pursuant to a single design or purpose.

An act is “imminently dangerous to another and demonstrating a depraved mind” if it is an act or series of acts that:

1.a person of ordinary judgment would know is reasonably certain to kill or do serious bodily injury to another, and
2.is done from ill will, hatred, spite, or an evil intent, and

3.is of such a nature that the act itself indicates an indifference to human life.

PNJ updated their story this morning:

BBM is the new part, I think. With Ashley Mcarthur being a former employee of the sheriff's office, it is no wonder that she was initially believed to be trustworthy and telling the truth. I'm so glad the detectives kept digging and saw the discrepancies in her story. She DID have an arrest for larceny back in August so they must have known something was going on with her money-wise that gave her a motive.
I did request a copy of the arrest report for that incident, it is not exactly as it would seem. It had to do with making child support payments to the state withheld from an employee and effectively only every other payment was actually sent to the state. The case was dismissed in September.

Murder Dangerous Depraved WO Premeditation?

The wording of the charge on the website is confusing. But when I searched the description of the charge, the details lead me to believe it’s considered premeditated as the list of reasons that constitute the charge are clearly intentional & premeditated.

So last night they announced she was being charged with 1st degree premeditated homicide and today they have already reduced the charges to 2nd degree and she is out on bond? :notgood:

Agreed!!! It’s my opinion that because Taylor was once an LEO, Ashley should be charged with Capital Murder.

Hmm... as many have mentioned here, I’m wondering if there are additional POIs not yet named. (Maybe someone ‘close’ to Ashley?)
IF this is the case, might it be possible they permitted release in an attempt to obtain additional information on additional person(s)?! [emoji848]

What is actually maddening in all of this is that family was able to come up with $100K for Ashley. So, if Ashley needed money why didn't she go to family rather than killer Taylor? They obviously had no trouble coming up with that kind of cash!

Was it family that put the $100k up or a bondsman?
