Marvin Perez Lopez, a 20-year-old Guatemalan native, allegedly confessed to snatching the girl from outside her home in Lake Worth and forcing her into his vehicle last week, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

A 20-year-man from Lake Worth was arrested for holding an 11-year-old girl captive and sexually assaulting her.

When the child's mother went looking for the girl, she spotted the van not far from their apartment building where the victim and Lopez both lived. The mother spotted them inside and began banging on the van door and shouting.

Investigators interviewed the victim, and she told them Lopez had forced himself on her after she repeatedly resisted his advances. She even tried to leave the van, but he pulled her back in. It escalated until Lopez allegedly raped her.

I don't think that the crime deserves less but with a law like that, there is no incentive for a criminal to leave a child alive that can recognize the perpetrator. This may put the children at greater risk in the long run

Yeah, that's the flip side. We all know criminals are dumb as a doorknob so let's hope they're ignorant of this law.
