Officials say that a second man is being questioned in the disappearance of a 9-year-old Maëlys de Araujo at a wedding party in an Alpine town. The detention of a guest at the celebration arrested a day earlier has also been prolonged. The prosecutor handling the case said the second man was detained Friday “to compare the statements of the two individuals.” Both are 34. Searchers continued to try to locate the girl, who went missing last weekend in Pont-de-Beauvoisin.

Prayers that this little one was able to escape from the clutches of these evil men and is safely hiding deep in the forest.

After the release Friday night of the two men held in police custody, hundreds of people took part in a "civil search party" on the grounds to try to find Maëlys.

The two men held in police custody were released Friday evening in the investigation into the disappearance of 9-year-old Maëlys, who has been missing for nearly a week in Isère, in Pont-de-Beauvoisin, where she was attending a wedding. "Investigations continue," says a source close to the file without further clarification. The two men, both 34 years old, were arrested on Thursday and Friday.

The two men in police custody were released before the 48-hour legal deadline expired, giving investigators the opportunity to question both men again if necessary. They aimed in particular at "confronting the statements of these two individuals", Dietlind Baudoin, the prosecutor of the Republic of Bourgoin-Jallieu, said in a statement. "At this stage, investigations and field searches to find Maëlys are continuing and no leads can yet be privileged or dismissed," the magistrate added.

STARTING THIS SUNDAY, DIVERS ARE CONTINUING THE SEARCH FOR MAËLYS

Divers will be investigating new bodies of water on Sunday in search of little Maëlys, who disappeared during a wedding in Pont-de-Beauvoisin, in the Isère, during the night of Saturday, August 26 to Sunday, August 27.

"The search continues. There have been no more scourings since Thursday but we are going to bring in divers on Sunday to explore the numerous bodies of water in the region. Such an investigation takes time," explains Jean Pertue, commander of the gendarmerie brigade of the Tour du Pin (Isère). These divers, "a fairly rare resource" in the area, come from Aix-les-Bains (Savoie) and Valence (Drôme), he says.

"We are advancing; we cross-reference information; the work of the investigators is advancing. We must remain positive at this stage. When you work, you make progress," even if this does not necessarily mean a decisive breakthrough in the investigation, the commander of the gendarmerie continues, the day after the announcement of the opening of a judicial inquiry for "kidnapping and holding of a minor younger than 15-years of age."

Two investigating judges were appointed to conduct the investigation. The gendarmes have already conducted more than 200 hearings and 40 searches, according to Laurent Becuywe, Grenoble's deputy prosecutor on Saturday. Two 34-year-old men were also held in police custody before being released on Friday night, because the details on which they had to explain themselves "were not siufficient charges for bringing them before the investigating judge", according to the magistrate.

"The investigators are working hard," says Jean Pertue, confirming that the "citizen search parties" organized on Saturday around Pont-de-Beauvoisin, the commune where Maëlys disappeared, had not produced any results. "The inspections were carried out, but no clues or substantial traces were found," according to Pertue, although the gendarmerie received many calls from residents.

BREAKING: MAN, 34, ARRESTED AGAIN, DNA OF MAËLYS FOUND IN HIS CAR

LeParisien
http://www.leparisien.fr/faits-dive...che-03-09-2017-7233018.php#xtor=AD-1481423554

A 34-year-old man, who was arrested on Thursday and released Friday, was imprisoned this Sunday. The scientific samples in the interior of his vehicle led to his arrest.

Another twist in the case of the disappearance of 9-year-old Maëlys, when she and her parents were at a wedding in Pont-de-Beauvoisin (Isère), on the night of 26-27 August. A 34-year-old man, already arrested Thursday morning at his home in Domessin (Savoie) and then released on Friday evening, was finally questioned again, indicted and imprisoned on Sunday. Scientific samples taken from the inside of his car led to his indictment: according to our information, a small sample of Maëlys' DNA was found inside the car, which its owner had nevertheless taken care to wash.

He is a 34-year-old male, present at the wedding. "He was brought before the investigating magistrates at the end of the afternoon, he denied having committed the facts," the prosecutor's office of Grenoble said in a press release, confirming an information from the Dauphiné Libéré. Technical and scientific police results obtained since the release of the two persons held in police custody have led the investigating magistrates and investigators to question one of them again on the morning of this Sunday.

The man was interrogated by the investigating magistrates of the Grenoble criminal division. He was indicted for "kidnapping and sequestration of a minor younger than 15-year-old." During his interrogation, he would have continued to deny any involvement. He was remanded in custody.

It takes a while before these results become available, apparently ot takes longer than they might have kept him in custody with no charges.
According to other sources, he was seen talking to Maëlys.

Oh no :( That is bad news.

At this point I doubt that she's alive.

The only hope would be if she was trafficked.

The suspect was present at the wedding on Saturday, August 26th. Little Maëlys disappeared in the night, around 3:00.

The man had admitted to having left the wedding party to "change his wine-spotted shirt" according to his statements. The man also washed his car the next day, says LCI.

The gendarmerie launched a call for witnesses on Sunday 27 August.

The 9-year-old girl has still not been found, despite several search parties and searches by divers in the surrounding ponds.

Fréderic Helbert, reporter
a crucial breakthrough A man directly involved in the disappearance. But the puzzle remains. Where's Maelys? #Brief

In that #brief he explains that the man was a suspect from the start and that the police had doubts about his story. He was nervous and confused.

The police dogs had indicated a spot on the parking. After that, nothing. LE found out that he a washed his car meticulously. Allegedly for selling it the next day. The investigators had doubts about that story. The PG gave a press conference, pulling wool over everybody's eyes by telling that all hypothesis remained open. But in reality only the option of a criminal act remained.

So are they assuming she is close by to where the wedding was taking place?

Is it possible he took her home or disposed of her close to where he lives rather than in the woods and lakes they are searching?

I wonder how close he lived to where the wedding was held.
What a lame excuse, saying he went to change a wine spotted shirt, unless he lived next door. No wonder the police were on to him so quickly.

SUSPECT ADMITS HE TOOK MAËLYS INTO HIS CAR, DENIES FACTS

The man indicted in connection with the investigation into Maëlys' disappearance admitted that he has taken the little girl into his car on the evening of the wedding, from Saturday 26 to Sunday 27 August in Pont-de-Beauvoisin (Isère). DNA traces have been found on the dashboard of his car parked in the parking lot of the party hall.

Presented to the investigating magistrates this Sunday afternoon, he still contests that he committed the facts. "Confronted with testimonies, findings and scientific results, he persisted in his denials and provided explanations,"the prosecutor said in a statement.

The 34-year-old man claims that the girl had climbed into the car with another child to see if there were any dogs in the trunk.

The imprisoned man, who had a dog training business in the past, explains that Maëlys and another child would have entered his car in the backseat to see if his dogs were in the trunk.

Apparently he lives nearby at 5 kms from the party hall, and a 10-minute drive.

Terrible thought I hope the waste bins were searched thoroughly and not collected. It is not looking good at all now.
