I can't say "proud" of them, but I do thank God they didn't kill anyone else.
We all have so many talents and we each are born with potential. We can choose to use it for the good or for evil.
Unfortunately, for so many, these two chose to use it for evil.

You know, their mothers are broken hearted and suffering, as well as all the extended people who are their victims. They deserve our prayers too. No mother would want this pain.
Always do the right thing...
And, as Maya Angelo quoted, "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time".

That's one of my favorite quotes!

You're right. It was a choice whether to injure them or not, and perhaps proud wasn't the right word, but I'm grateful no other lives were lost.

wow, that made me cry
what strong, brave people
I hope they can heal from this
I'm sure their family members are grateful but also pissed off at the criminals

This the link to the ACTUAL 911 CALL MADE BY THE ELDERLY COUPLE.....frankly my husband and I both got teary eyed as we heard the elderly gentleman trying to keep his wife from breaking down. (so obviously stressed...you hear her crying in the background). At one point he stops his conversation with the 911 operator. And in a soothing/calm and reassuring voice tells his wife...."it's going to be ok, you survived this."

The 911 operator was a really great gal, too!! You could feel her compassion for this man....amazing.

the elderly man said in his 911 call that the convicts both had high-powered handguns

Thankfully when these 2 fled the last car the guns were left behind. Otherwise IMO the elder couple and the man/men who held them until LE arrived may have not lived to tell the story.

Beautiful picture.

Oh yes, Spellbound and JanetElaine, the concrete buffet is very satisfying and filling.

Poetic Justice was carried out by the very brave people who held them at bay with guns till LE arrived, and also the brave couple who called 911. :loveyou:

Just a random thought thinking of our dear Foxfire if he were here with us today.

Glen perhaps would remind us that "First Responders" are the civilian people that are in the situation, not the LE that rescue the civilians.

Missing Foxfire, and this one (especially with Sherriff Sills/Dermond case).. thinking of you often Foxfire.

Dang..

Thank you Bently Fabulous link! Sounds as if DuBose and Rowe, without guns in hand, suddenly became wimps and decided they didn't want to be shot. So they took off their shirts, assumed-the-position of ultimate submission..... face down on a cement driveway.
I am so impressed with the wonderful nature/modesty & survival instincts of the Tennessee residents who encountered these monsters.
I mentioned this post #261 by JOYBELL I didn't have time to find it at the time (thread was moving so fast)...and give credit to his/her brilliant post.
".......it looks like there has been alot of LEARNED BEHAVIOR....... GOD..... wrap a band of ANGELS around anyone coming into contact with these two.... "
From JOYBELL'S post to GOD'S ears!!! Amen!

Interview with the man that held the convicts at gunpoint.

http://www.11alive.com/mb/news/hero...-escaped-inmates-talks-about-ordeal/449722180

His neighbor called him to tell him that the convicts had just gotten in a shootout and 6 minutes later he was loading all of the guns in his house..and then..they were at his house.

At the very bottom of the page is the audio for the 911 call from the elderly couple .... those poor people. you can hear the husband's loving concern for his wife when he tells to come let him put his arm around her, and hear her frightened sobs.

Amazing how the final moments ended so peacefully.

Hmm they surrendered to police 'urged' by some private citizens more like it...

I think perhaps he is backtracking to also include the first couple ( the ones that were tied up and helped law enforcement focus on that area of Tennessee) could be included in the reward money also?

Since the monies came from different agencies, it might be up to those different agencies to determine who the monies are going to out of the $130,000.

I'm not sure that sheriff Sills can speak for all those agencies/ organizations.

Report: Numerous security policy violations in inmate escape

The report released Friday says inmates were left unattended on the bus during stops, the door to the inmate compartment of the bus was not locked and restraints were not double locked. The guards also kept their guns in storage boxes rather than wearing them and weren’t wearing ballistic vests as required.

Video of presser. Lots more information during the presser than was in the written articles that I found very interesting.

What the?? Were the transport officers TRYING to get killed?? This is insane!

The lack of following procedure reminds me of nurses getting all bent out of shape because 'state inspectors' were coming. Well, if you're doing your job by the books all the time, you don't have to sweat when inspectors show up. Just keep doing what you've been doing. Always worked for me.

People just comfortable in their job, cut corners, and don't really think of why those rules were put into place to begin with.

No way I would want criminals in my vehicle without being properly secured. And leaving them on the bus with the door was not locked? Come on folks! Remember your loved ones, and do the job correctly!

Tragedy that could have been prevented. Saddened.

UPDATE | Reward paid to several people after capture of two Georgia escaped inmates

"Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said that by the time they were caught, the reward had risen to $141,000. The money is being paid out to several people, but authorities declined to say exactly who's getting it, saying the recipients wished to remain anonymous."

BBM, I hope the homeowner, neighbor AND the elderly couple get the reward! If not for the couple, le may not have found them to begin the chase. I'm sooooo grateful they were spared! I also pray there are no other victims out there that haven't been discovered yet

That was my first thought also when I read and posted above re the reward, that the elderly couple shared in it due to the fact that without that sighting, and info broadcast, the second homeowner would not have gotten the call from the neighbor which resulted in him loading all his guns in preparation for.. 6 minutes later.. they were at his house.

:grouphug: to the elderly coulple
