It's been three weeks, and still there are few clues in the mysterious slaying of a prominent developer's wife.

Eva Kay Wenal, a 60-year-old homemaker, was stabbed to death inside her Lawrenceville home, according to A.J. Block, an Atlanta attorney and friend of the family.

There were no signs of forced entry to the couple's home in the upscale Sugarloaf Springs subdivision and nothing was taken —- not even Wenal's expensive jewelry collection, Block said.

Wenal's husband, Hal Wenal, on Thursday announced that he is offering $100,000 of his own money for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.

And a picture of the "person of interest"

Found this article from a several weeks back.

Mysterious case. Gosh, at one time before he passed away, the husband had offered $250K for information. Of course the reward is no longer valid as he's deceased, but with that type of $$ offered, you would think there'd be more interest.

Curious there's not that much press on this. However, the below link is pretty in-depth.

Years later, clues emerge, questions remain in slaying of millionaire's wife

LAWRENCEVILLE — In his career, shopping center magnate Harold "Hal" Wenal scored real estate deals around the globe. He drove a Bentley and wore a fine Gucci watch. The value of his estate was estimated at more than $30 million. Despite his means, Hal died without the thing he wanted most: The name of his wife's killer.

#He spoke of his wife, former model Eva "Kay" Wenal, in glowing terms, saying they felt like love-struck teenagers together. Her death, caused by a brutal knife wound to her neck, haunted him. He'd found his wife's body in their kitchen and was too distraught to even dial 911. A few months later, he would offer $250,000 for the arrest and conviction of her killer.

Interesting, ........... one article said the last time he saw his wife alive was when she came by his office (in a sweat suit type outfit I believe), yet this reward site said she'd told him she didn't feel well and he told her to stay home.

The morning of the murder, Kay Wenal told her husband that she didn’t feel well. Her husband urged her to stay home and rest. Pillows were found stacked at one end of the sofa, and a book she had been reading was found face down on the coffee table to hold her place until she returned to it. Some food was left out on the counter top in the kitchen – probably meant to be her lunch. Her wallet and purse were found on a counter top very close to where her body was found. Police say the murder most likely occurred between 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm. There is no definite way to determine exact time of death.

Anyone ever hear this case pop up since the resurgence briefly in 2012?

I went looking to see what was here when I was trying to find an update on Jen Corbin's sons (I had been friends w/ her sister from an online group before Jen was killed) and Heather mentioned meeting Eva/Kay's widow at the annual GA murder support remembrance thing - mentioned here http://m.gwinnettdailypost.com/news/2012/dec/04/annual-vigil-offers-comfort-support/

Hard not to think his heart attack was probably partly broken heart induced.

The pictures are striking, and there'd been that mysterious POI from the get go - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ures-killer-threatening-letter-cold-case.html

If you're unfamiliar with Bart Corbin, he killed two women, years apart, and staged both to look like suicides. Had one of her kids not run to the neighbor's, he'd likely have gotten away with Jen's murder and not been investigated and found died to another. Some real similarities to Drew Peterson.

Here's a Today Show thing on him and the case - there's a book out there about him, too. He could potentially (horrifically) be up for parole in just 6 more years. http://www.today.com/id/15253153/ns/today/t/death-dentist/#.UzodIqIvnzc

"Some Gwinnett County investigators have called Eva Kay Wenal’s 2008 murder the most brutal they’ve ever seen. Now, a new show on CBS is asking the audience to help investigate"

"On Jan. 28, reporter Erin Moriarty will take viewers through the details of Kay Wenal’s life and murder case on “Solve this Case: Who Killed Kay Wenal?” Moriarty speaks to multiple investigators who worked the case, as well as Wenal’s sister, to help piece together the story.
The show will broadcast at 10 p.m. on CBS this Saturday."

Thanks for bumping this thread caribou. I had not heard of this murder before but I am definitely interested in following it now after reading up on it. Will be watching the episode tonight.

Interesting case. Watching the 48 Hours episode. I assume they went through her cell phone, emails, etc. You'd think if she were having an affair they would have found correspondence even if she was careful tech specialist would have found deleted emails/texts.
My first inclination is the letter is a hoax but what they said about her hating her house indicates they actually knew her.

Regarding the sketch of the stranger who was near the house on the day of the murder, I had an immediate reaction to the "restaurant manager" (pic 1), although he was cleared by police along with her doctor and a Hobby Lobby employee who had a crush on her.

Police are still trying to identify the man in the photo with Kay and the other woman, taken in Las Vegas "years earlier".

I don't recall it either. It's local to me and came up on the news, and I figured there was a thread here :)

'Just noticed a comment (on the report you linked) by ANK regarding a pastor who lived near Wenal, initials "VJL"... and he's been reported to authorities. Interesting!

I'm just wondering if anyone knows who her husbands estate went to? I feel terrible that he was working so hard to find out who her killer was and then once he passed whoever took over stopped everything. Just wondering if there's any connection

It went to his daughter. I find it weird she didn't carry out her father's wishes to hunt for the killer...
